Michael quitting is the most powerful scene in the entire show. You can see the disappointment in Michael's face when he realizes Wallace still thinks the meeting is about the party and not about about Michael's feelings about not being respected after 15 years service to the company

    • @SimpleManGuitars1973

I think the most powerful scene is when Dwight comforted Pam and let her have his jacket. Dwight really did always care about Pam. The comic relief of that scene and the quitting scene were both hilarious too. I think Michael's line is my wife's favorite in the whole show.

Yes. Wallace always had the best of intentions but unfortunately he wasn't intimate enough with Michael to understand his point. Michael shouldn't have expected Wallace to understand, though, because it was a realistic solution considering the circumstances but Michael's gamble worked!
You can see a little smirk on Wallace's face after Michael accepts the deal: I think at that moment he understood him more and started to respect him more too.

And I think in the show they indicate that she's the one who knows him best, because they work together the longest and the closest. And when he leaves, she's the one that runs in the airport to say goodbye. Michael is a very superficial man. He is immature, and it sounds like he had somewhat of a crappy childhood, remember Jeff and the doll? You are definitely right about him going to extreme lengths to get people to like him, but when he gets hurt, he goes to those same extremes to let someone know that they hurt his feelings. Like when he imitated Daryl during Halloween. And look at what Holly did to him. Instantaneous new man. That shows he has a willing heart, because of the ways that he expresses his affection for her and his disappointment they aren't together.
I'm a man, who's sought the affections of a woman. And I've been a boss of a company, so I kind of understand, maybe, or he's coming from. He's just still looking for the love and acceptance that he never got as a kid.
