I'm a BSN, RN. Girl, I can't do any exercise anymore. 4 yrs in the field. I sleep whenever I can when I go home or if it's my off then I rest whenever I can while on duty and whenever there's like “free time” and a chair I thank God for the opportunity even though most of it are less than 5 minutes. But for me, all the workload and tiredness is worth it if you really love nursing and the field you chose.
You’re 100% correct. Med/Surg is great to learn skills... BUT if you know OB is your end goal...go for it. It’s a hard floor to get hired on bc the burnout rate is lower and most people stay their whole careers there. Working the hospital as a CNA helps, though! Shoot the OBs nurse manager an email every so often that way when it comes time- she knows you’re motivated.
My coworker said this to me and I’m currently working on my CNA 1 and 2 certification I can’t wait to get into the hospital my speciality is ONC/HEM people say it’s a weird first choice lol
Please do some more CNA content/how it works into the busy schedule of being a nursing student. It seems like such a great learning opportunity, but I'm nervous I'll be super overwhelmed doing that.
I start nursing school this summer and I’m a full time float CNA at the children’s hospital in my city I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do both but you are inspiring 🥺
I had so many people tell me "you need to do med-surg first" and I knew I didn't want to do that because I worked on a medsurg floor as a CNA. I always wanted to do something with OB and I got offered a RN position in the maternal float pool so I'll get to get in the NICU, L&D, Peds and Mother Baby! So don't get discouraged!!
I'm graduating in a couple weeks and starting in the NICU in July. Definitely go for what you want, if you're passionate, the interviewers will see that and it'll set you apart from others. You'll learn everything you need to on your specialty unit. Don't do med surg if you know it'll burn you out.
The best way to get a non med-surg job as a new grad is to already work as a CNA/PCT, especially if you’re working on med-surg as a tech! It shows nurse managers that you know how to work hard and manage your time - most of my friends who got med-surg jobs as new grads hadn’t worked as CNAs before! I just graduated on Friday from nursing school and I was a tech in med-surg but landed an OB job right out of school! You don’t have to start in med-surg, there’s no sense in starting somewhere you don’t want to be!
I'm studying nursing in Brazil and my goal is after college I start my process to become a nurse in the United States. Your channel is helping me a lot with English, I'm grateful for that. 😊
Don’t get discouraged about your chances of starting in L&D, so many new grads start out in a specialty unit! I feel like everyone just tries to scare new nurses into starting in med-surg because a lot of people don’t really like it as much lol
I started as a new grad in Labor and Delivery two years ago and am still there. Yes I wish I had some medsurg experience but I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything else. Love where I am! I can see that you really want it and will make a fantastic labor nurse!!
I would love to hear about how you balance working and school. Also about being a CNA during the nightshift vs dayshift. I am about to finish my CNA program and I am also starting my ABSN program this fall. I wanted to work during school if possible. I've watched you since the last time you worked as a CNA and it's been so amazing seeing you and Josh grow!! I feel like I'm always a step behind you in my nursing career and so you guys feel like my cool older siblings giving me life advice 😂
ABSN is gonna be way harder to manage along with a full time job. I did an accelerated nursing prior to transferring to a traditional program. I wish you the best!
i’m also gonna start my cna soon and i’m 26 right now. i am hoping to go to school once i finish my cna, find a job, and go to nursing school. i’m not sure to if should go for accelerated nursing school. i heard that wherever you decide to work they will help you go back to school to finish your RN. i’m in ny right now and idk if i feel old already to be a cna and a nurse after. i hope it won’t be that bad and i haven’t been to school in awhile so i’m so nervous. this is my first time stepping the big step you know. i hoping it won’t be that bad.

I was the COVID-19 screener at a nursing home and I basically did homework well I was a screener in school for my medical assisting stuff so I just did homework and I made TickTock’s
I’m a cna and about to finish my first semester of nursing school. Have you always been a full time night CNA? If so, how do you manage your time with studying and working? I’ve been working every other weekend because it’s so much work... especially since I’m in a 2 year program.
Not during nursing school. I was a full time nanny for my first 3 quarters and loved it. Not thinking I’m going to last full time after my first two weekends! School needs to come first!
I had my capstone on a med-surg unit that had a manager who was super adamant about starting on med-surg. Long story short I got a job in an ICU at a different hospital and the manager proceeded to call my school and claim that I was unprofessional/that I acted like med-surg was below me. I know you don’t know me but this was not true at all and when I reached out to my preceptor she said she thought I had done a great job. Anyway just watch out for that because it’s really messed with my head and got me into a ton of trouble at school.
I’m truly not worried at all! I play along every time someone brings it up and I would never think of any unit or treat any unit as if they were below me!
I’m a BSN student in an accelerated program. I have NO idea how you guys are able to work, go to school, date, and find the time to study somewhere in between. NO WAY I can do that. Much respect from a 44 year old dude.

May I ask what school do you go to? I wanted to do clinicals in person and lecture online.
Loveeee the long vlogs
Good🤪
I’m a cna and about to finish my first semester of nursing school.
School needs to come first!
love this vlog!! So happy your new job is going so well!! ;)
Thank you 😍😍
The RegisteredNurseRN video is so accurate 😂
Congratulations on 51k
