Thanks for that review my friend. That knife looks like it would look so awesome if you forced an intricate artistic pattern on it with Sriracha sauce. I have done several high carbon steel blades with Mustard and also with Sriracha and I really like what Sriracha does to the metal when it forms a Patina. Try it! I just ordered my Moonshiner. It arrives this week. Cheers and thank you again. Just subscribed to your channel.
I like this knife, one of my favorites. Greetings from germany. Did you know that the condor owners -2 brothers- moved after ww2, I think in the 60´s or so, from Solingen/germany with all their german tools to El Salvador to begin their buisness?! German quality from El Salvador ;-)
I just got this knife a few weeks ago because it was on sale (45.00+free ship) and thought it was definitely worth what I paid for it. I just did a review and one of the only negatives for me was the long handle, but overall I thought it was a solid large fixed blade. Surprised to hear it's hated
Hated, not hardly. I love mine. Had to do a bit of sanding on the handle, but only so it would fit the sheath better. As for "Choking" up on the blade to do "Fine" work. I use a smaller knife. Too many "Bushcrafters" one a knife that will do it all. What idiots. I've been teaching wilderness survival and knife use since the early 80's. And this is a good knife, for what it is.
P.S. I just spent this evening sanding down the front lower part of the handle. Now mine fits into the sheath really easy, but still has enough retention to keep it from falling out. Then I just applied boiled Linseed Oil to the sanded area's and it looks great now.
Surprised to hear it's hated. I have one and it's one of my favorites. i filed down the base of the blade to make a choil, and that, combined with the long handle, makes for a really multi-purpose large knife/small machete.
Hi there, I'm also thinking that actually Condor Moonshiner is a great blade - actually is an "upgraded" version of Condor Hudson Bay Why upgrade ? Because it has a larger handle (which HB lacks, the handle on that being a bit shorter than it shoud be ) and it also has that lanyard hole The swedge - makes the Moonshiner a bit more of a fighting knife or at least helps you to protect in wilderness - in case that bad things happen ... The size is also adequate - not too big , not too small
There's a blade exactly like that! The Condor Moonstalker is the exact same blade but with a black powder epoxy finish on the sides of the blade and a black/grey Micarta handle with hollow pins instead of solid. Really cool blade.
@@adods9824 Aww that sucks. The Moonstalker is the superior blade between the two. I have both and the Moonshiner has suffered severe handle scales shrink (don't know what kind of wood it is, but it's fared terribly between El Salvador and West Texas), while the handle on the Moonstalker has held up wonderfully.
I think most buyers don't realize that it's a two-position handle. They try to grip it in the middle, and end up despising the handle.
Spot on with your assessment.....good job. I've used machetes extensively and when I saw this little chopper/slicer I had to have it.
I think it's awesome, I have never been disappointed in a condor blade, they are still best bang for the buck IMO, stay strong my friend

Love my moonshiner, for 70$ has to be one of the best hard use budget friendly blades out there!

I love the Moonshiner, it gets slot of heat from other reviewers. I wanted to show that it's not that bad of a knife actually
Good review. You sold me. No idea why it would be hated...really like it. Only thing I'd do is give it a micarta handle. That's it.

3:50 The Condor Moonsewage. 😓
Looks like a decent knife in my opinion. -Diobolos, Undead Prince Of Pennsylvania
Good video my friend

66 pound
@@bigalbowie7206 nice!
What are u guys on about?! The handle is excellent! No need for all this fuss. Mind you, i have an XL hand ...so.... 🤗
Good review. Like you said, not perfect, but it'll get the job done. Doesn't deserve the hate.
I don't think it's a bad knife.
I have it for hunting, survival and I am never disadisappointing from it.
It's not bad at all, but alot people complain about because they try to use it for "bushcraft"
U could just sharpen the flat part
