No 14yr teens should have they life cut because of another teen that clearly had some issues. We could been had reasonable gun and mental health guidance and restrictions but our politicians are afraid of the NRA and extreme 2nd amendment right nuts not supporting them. People the Democratic are not trying to take away your guns you can have all the small hand gun and hunting guns you want. But what do you need a weapon use in our military. This is exactly the type of toxic thinking that makes me sick. I have a lot of relatives that took their kids out of school in fear of gender issues but are silent when these shootings happen. When my kids go to school I'm not scared that someone will try to make them want to transition, I'm way more afraid of something like this happening. This shooting took place only 2 hours away from where most of my said relatives live and I haven't heard a word.

The police questioned the father and this kid about the kid’s gun threats last year. All weapons should have been removed immediately. Georgia failed miserably! The families should sue that state as well as the family of the shooter.
They were investigated last year in May, but there was not enough evidence for an arrest. For Christmas that year, the dad bought the AR as a gift for his son. Sick people!

I live in Georgia Our governor and GOP controlled legislature have done nothing to promote gun safety. They recently signed open carry into law. We have no gun registration, background check, AR-15/ammo restrictions, or age restriction. Now Governor Kemp says this is not the time to discuss gun safety. It makes me sick. Georgia GOP leaders should be ashamed of themselves.

As someone who worked inmental health for years the mass shootings are not a mental health issue. It’s far broader….there are mental health issues all over the world but only the US has this huge problem of mass shootings. That is definitely related to the mind set of gun ownership, legla or illegal, fascinations with guns, the huge divisiveness in the country, the loneliness and isolation teenagers feel, parenting, cultural and personal beliefs, deinvidualisation etc. The gun issue needs to be addressed the most.

If you haven’t done anything actionable, then law enforcement can’t do anything. They can’t keep investigations open indefinitely for something you potentially will do without cause as per the bill of rights. Beyond that, the authorities have other threats to the public to investigate and thwart. That’s why banning these assault rifles is the underlying issue.

You aren't going to believe that most doctors here are Republicans and they are against the program and refuse to take them. They won't give you any treatment after they see you once. No future appointments nor treatment for the people under them. I would like your opinion. Already called representative and governor, no response nor help. If you are sick in Georgia, only hospitals will see you in the emergency room and no future. My next-door neighbor was found dead after 3 days, and she was 43 years old.

I remember about 6 or 7 years ago on the first day of school, there was a school shooting. A kid who had been bullied shot up the school cafeteria. He ended up being tackled by the assistant principal. The kid, who was 15 at the time, was facing 30 years

I had a wise elder tell me "When you truly get tired,you will do something about it". Some people need to stop saying that they are coming for your guns. Please use common sense, the people who you think will be coming will need to paid a great salary. A salary that takes in the factor of great danger to that person. Having a military style weapon (AR-15) is not needed to protect your home. There are other weapons that can provide the same protection. I live an hour away from this. One thing that would help is metal detectors. This kid was on the FBI radar a year ago nothing done and now it’s too late. People have guns and a majority don’t kill people. I’m so tired of it being political. If he had made threats a year ago hello something mental is going on here.

200 shootings so far in American schools in 2024 alone. Not to mention in domestic and non-school public locations. No other country in the world has this messed up approach to guns. When will Americans actually do something about it instead of just talking in circles?

Trump's response to the school shooting is bizaare! His reply to the question about the shooting was disjointed, meaningless and without empathy! He certainly shows cognitive and emotional dysfunction, and needs to be seen by a specialist doctor for a thorough psychometric assessment. This is imperative, before he is even considered as a candidate for the most poweful office in the world!
