  • What does it mean for a Scrum Master to be a servant-leader?
It's a bit touchy, as the term 'servant-leader' was removed from the 2020 Scrum Guide.
That's not to say being a 'servant-leader' isn't important. Perhaps what's more important is for the Scrum Master to lead first and then to serve.
So how do they lead? And how do they serve?
What is an example of scrum master servant leader behavior? Why is it important for a scrum master to be a servant leader?
    We'll answer those questions here.

I'm a tech lead. I used to always find the term "servant leader' jarring. A leader who serves is more accurate. Sets the correct expectation

I totally agree. Not a big fan of the term 'servant' and 'master' in Scrum Master to be totally honest. But yes, a leader first makes sense.

I really liked this video. I especially liked the idea behind Psychological safety. Would Psychological transparency be apart of that?

I was actually surprised that the discussion went in that direction, and I found it really informative. Really made me think about being a servant leader, or a 'leader who serves', differently.
Now I have to go look up what 'psychological transparency' is! But Transparency is a Scrum Pillar!

I like the idea of leadership through making the coffee.
