It's anti-lag I believe. Dumps excess unburnt fuel in the exhaust, and due to the heat ignites the fuel. This causes a back vacuum into the turbo. So keeps the turbo spinning for a better launch. First time I heard anti-lag I thought the same haha.
Joshua Heywood close guess, but in this case, it was 2step. See how the tach pauses at 4K rpm? That's a secondary rev limiter, triggered by a disengaged clutch and no speed. Some 2-step systems limit revs by spark cutoff, so the fuel is still injected and similarly dumped into the exhaust, causing a very similar pop-bang-flames phenomenon as anti-lag.
