I love this song. I heard it first from Mo Pitney. I saw Merle in concert he was so good. Love Merle. Thank you two for this reaction. You are great together.
I had to do it again you guys made me smile after i just lost one of my sisters just 2 days ago. Thanks to you and Merle for a little sunshine in my life.
@bcojr1074 Ouch, I'm so sorry on the loss of your sister. I have two sisters and occasionally wonder what it will be like when one of the three of us dies. Whether it's me or them it's gonna be rough. My condolences, and I wish you strength and comfort through this time.
What a voice he had, and what an observer of life. Merel was talented in so many ways. An overlooked gem. House of Memories, Out Among the Stars are sleepers too.
Thanks Dragon Breath for a super request! I love the sentiment, the song is written beautifully, and Merle performs it so well! Great reaction Don and Caroline, and yes 9.6 is spot-on!!!
I had the chance to see Merle Haggard in concert 2 different times, first time back in 1982 in Bakersfield and the other time back in 2000, I remember I walked in the fairgrounds where he was going to be singing that night and was asking a guy at the ticket booth how much for a ticket, he told me and of course I bought a ticket and left to come back. But as I walked in the fairgrounds, Merle Haggard and The Strangers were on stage doing a sound check and going over what songs to sing. I noticed Merle Haggard had seen me walking in and I thought wow, Merle Haggard saw me walking in towards the front entrance at the gate. Rest in Peace Merle R. Haggard 1937 - 2016
@PapaFixIt That was THE classic moment in all of our reactions!! Her parents watched it about an hour ago, as did her husband, and they loved it! I did too, and loved our chemistry on set. She and I will be doing more in the future-she’s not shy, as you can see. 😀
Don you reacted to Mo Pitney singing this song 3 years ago. I have never been married but my Dad had no problem with city people although he grew up on a a farm .My mom didn't however and wanted the experience so I think it was a compromise when we moved to a hobby farm when I was in 5th grade . Not that we really had "city life" it was like a small country town . Houses were closer but not to close. I Remember there was a church and small store post office and smaller elementary school . Remember attending church function and buying a bag of penny or nickel candy and me and my friends would sit on the steps and wait for our ride .when we moved further in the country was not as many kids around . Anyway thinking about it brought lots of memories. Never been married so no experience of how my Dad would have reacted. Thanks for the excellent reaction you two .
@Scottandal I had the good fortune of seeing him in 1994 in Hiawassee, Ga. Vern Gosdin, and Martina McBride were on the bill too. Absolutely one of the best shows I've ever seen.---#UTRCM
This is a great song you can't go wrong with Merle Haggard, man he's great his song's represent his life he didn't just sing these song's he lived them in so many ways, great request Dragon, and I loved the reaction of both of you she's a absolutely charming young "Lady" I have a sister in-law, from South Carolina, really nice people in that part of the country, leave it to Merle, to sing a song that tugged at the heart string's, I heard you say that she had a little tear in her eyes, that's what traditional country music does to you that other music doesn't do it talks to your ❤️ that's why it's so good!!! Hey Don, I would like to request a song by Moe Bandy, called "I CHEATED ME RIGHT OUT OF YOU" another great Moe, song thanks again

I always thought this was a sweet, simple little song with very honest emotion.
One of my biggest regrets is not getting a chance to see Merle in concert. Always loved this song! You two are great together. ❤️
