For those wondering lasguns are not weak they are stronger than any 7.62 caliber weapons its just the enemies on the table top are highly resistant to small arms fire.

@roofturk4293 yep that's why they don't switch them out because in lore the guardsmen face waves of weak canon faughter before the heavier units arrive and by then they usually get backup from tanks or Astarties.
