Thank you. I appreciate the fact that you are providing your followers with a view of what you’re doing from your perspective and not necessarily up close where everything looks bigger than life. That’s a great perspective.
From a viewers perspective, there looked to be some tricky bits but you handled everything superbly. Well done on this video and thank you for sharing an extraction that is not so straightforward. Challenges like this one show your professional ability. Respect 🌹❤️🌹
Was your patient awake during that? Not sure if thats a dumb question, I just found a black piece of something in my boyfriend's ear and started finding all of these videos 😂 what does that process entail, and I want to try and get it out but im too afraid to rupture the ear drum
In office suction does not have variability. There is a hole in the suction where the thumbs rests that allow you to alter the suction power, like an off / on switch. Thanks for watching!
4 yrs of med school and 6 yrs of post graduate training and 10 years of professional work all with the microscope. ENT's are trained to use two instruments, one in each hand and a device that holds the speculum during ear surgeries. I can do everything i need to do with the microscope. The speculum simply holds the anatomy out of the way for simple in office procedures such as ear wax removal or ear tube placements. In other words i have no need for an ear endoscope. I understand that alot of viewers prefer the endoscopic view. Thanks for watching!
As an ENT surgeon we are trained on using a microscope and can use that to perform all the different kinds of ear surgeries. A narrow canal such as this case appears that I would be restricted but i can get all the way to the ear drum without difficulty. Thanks for watching!
Every patient gets a brand new ear speculum and the used ones get tossed in the trash. If it is "dirty" it was most likely used on the opposite ear prior. Thanks for watching!
Am I the only one who thought "the struggle" was due to it being extra disgusting and/or smelly? 🤪 It's not. Well, it is nasty but that makes it good, not a struggle. You know, there are other OMG haha. I was going to say, "you know there are other instruments, right?" But BAM as I was typing, they switched it up. 4:52 6:25 Ok, I was wrong, go back to the suction! Those are only going to cut through man.
To bad most of the ENT's where I live at, are a bunch of quaks. Small offices, just to make money and staff who is rude to you! I don't wish to go to hospitals depts for ENT. I miss things before COVID, where doctors, were honest and so was their office staff!
Colace is essentially a lubricant. Works well to keep the bowels moving. It decreases surface tension and allows for better flow. As you can see it works well in the ear canal as well. Viagra was originally designed to be a high blood pressure medicine but it also did something else which wasn’t expected. Now it used for something else. Drugs can be used for a different purpose outside of its original design!
How long do you think this has been building up?Was this person disabled or elderly where they don't know what to do? I can't believe someone had this in their ear and just didn't realize it! 😱
Could this be caused by using Q-tips several times daily? After a shower my ears itch if I dont dry the water out with q-tips and i use them several times daily.. I know I've read before that it's bad to use them but i love the feeling, it feels like I'm cleaning inside there lol I have OCD too so I clean everything several times just to be sure lol
No, I am skin on skin with my patients. I exercise excellent hand hygiene between patients. If there is a pathogen risk like blood, pus or saliva then I will obviously glove up. Of note, I never handle the cerumen with my hands. I handle instruments that have all been sterilized after every use. Thanks for watching!
I could be wrong, but it seems like that cone is more of an impediment than anything. Ever considered using an endoscope? I swear the last minute or so the cone was the only thing keeping that plug in place
In situations where you're using suction and it's just about out and your shaking and wiggling why not just use the hook at that point, and pull it out..... Frustrating
That was the best job I have ever seen😮
Thank you! 😊
Dr. Your patience and gentleness are outstanding.
Thank You!!
Imagine how much better they can hear now.
Not only do I love your videos, your choice of music is 10/10.
Glad you like them!
But his voice is so soothing do get me wrong I love the music he chooses but I gotta say the voice the background stories are for me I guess😏
Thank you. I appreciate the fact that you are providing your followers with a view of what you’re doing from your perspective and not necessarily up close where everything looks bigger than life.

I appreciate that!

The patience needed 😮... thanks for sharing Dr 🧑⚕️👂👏💜✌️🇮🇪
You bet
It is amazing that the eagle devouring the inside of it's prey is actually a tiny tube.

Much appreciated!
Unbelievable what a size and what a relief when its done
If my father had been an ear doctor instead of an electrician I could just imagine the curse words he’d have been using on this job!
he can't struggle he is amazing
Amazing finish
Wow! Hard to get past the bend in the ear!! Found myself “ pulling “ with you!!❤❤
It was so tight in that ear! I could have used your help!!
I read that as "I snuggled with with this one" 😆🤣🙈
😂
Looked like he was pulling a dead insect out of there.
Whoa! That was incredible! I was half expecting something to wave hello from in there! Thanks for sharing 👌👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very satisfying for me to watch, for your patient and I guess for you too as the clinician?
Absolutely!
Bom dimaisssssssss 😅 olha o tamanho! Super satisfatório 😂

The safest way is find your local ENT provider and they can't take care of him.
Great video and work. Is it possible to increase/decrease suction on the vacuum nozzle?
In office suction does not have variability. There is a hole in the suction where the thumbs rests that allow you to alter the suction power, like an off / on switch. Thanks for watching!
Lots of dead skin on the plug, right? Is the patient recommended for more periodic cleaning moving forward so it's easier all the way around?
That is correct. Routine visits and good ear hygiene!
A very great video the ears are very enticing to me. Good work good job😊
Thank you! Cheers!
What is there any particular reason why you used a speculum instead of an endoscope? Was it preference or necessity I just wondered that was all

Are you thinking of getting an endoscope any time soon. Don't you think they allow you greater access?
As an ENT surgeon we are trained on using a microscope and can use that to perform all the different kinds of ear surgeries. A narrow canal such as this case appears that I would be restricted but i can get all the way to the ear drum without difficulty. Thanks for watching!
The endoscope gives a much wider view. perhaps in some cases it might be beneficial to use the speculum.
Whew I’m exhausted!
I was as well!! Such a small ear canal and wedged in tight!! Thanks for watching!!
Dear Lord , all that from 1 ear ???🙄😮
Good job; good music👍
Thanks ✌️
Do you clean that canula in between patients? It seems to be filled with debris. Just wondering.
Every patient gets a brand new ear speculum and the used ones get tossed in the trash. If it is "dirty" it was most likely used on the opposite ear prior. Thanks for watching!

Love your commentary!! Thanks for watching!!
That "spring roll" right at the end....🧐

Depois lava de alguma maneira? Por exemplo, com soro?
Quanto tempo para voltar a ficar assim novamente?
Wish he would talk us through the procedure hate the music just distracting 😊😊
He has other videos with voiceover. You should check them out.
This is perfect. I didnt want to blink .
Wow that's huge 😳
Is the colace used to soften?
Soften but more so lubricant so that it slides out easier.
Wow well done
Thank you! Cheers!
Colace drops? Like laxative?
Yes, it acts as a lubricant. Colace is marketed as a stool softener though, not a laxative. Thanks for watching!
The music’s pretty good?
Colace drops??? The stoolsoftner??
Colace! Yes! Docusate Sodium!
Why would you put Colace drops in your ears! It is for stool softening.
Colace is essentially a lubricant. Works well to keep the bowels moving. It decreases surface tension and allows for better flow. As you can see it works well in the ear canal as well.

You almost didn’t get that one.
Not safe how he/ she shaking inside the ear is super sensitive to touch😢
It is sensitive however after twenty years I’m pretty sure I know how to do it safely without hurting the patient!!
What is the purpose of the ear speculum, please?
I use a microscope so the speculum allows me to see into the canal while holding the surrounding anatomy out of the way.
@@drjent3350, thank you for your reply.
People are strange, right? Letting this happen without cleaning.
How long do you think this has been building up?Was this person disabled or elderly where they don't know what to do? I can't believe someone had this in their ear and just didn't realize it! 😱
Years! Normal adult with a busy lifestyle. Small narrow tortuous canals.
Green stuff. Infected?
No. There was no infection. The shiny stuff you saw at the end when the plug was removed is a layer of skin cells from the inside of the ear canal.
It is certainly possible.
That did not want to come out!
It’s so gross but I can’t stop watching lol
Son las 10:09 jajaja y en su país que hora es
How cavernous is the ear canal?
This canal is very narrow and oblong.
Very frustrating to watch, he finally decides to use the hook lol
Tak to je sila.Jak sr tohle mohlo udelat
How do ears get so filthy? I can’t fathom.
It’s a shame you can’t grasp it the twirl the forceps to tangle that clump of nasty on the end to yank it out
Why do people let there ears get so dirty?
That’s not what ear wax is penny.
Cuz they want you to see primary right away
why don't you wear gloves? 😱
No, I am skin on skin with my patients. I exercise excellent hand hygiene between patients. If there is a pathogen risk like blood, pus or saliva then I will obviously glove up. What in the world was that??
Old ear wax wrapped in old canal skin.
Oh my thats nasty. Why u let ur ear get that bad
Prefer narration thank you😮😊
You're welcome 😊
Yuck
Wow!
In situations where you're using suction and it's just about out and your shaking and wiggling why not just use the hook at that point, and pull it out..... Frustrating
The shaking and wiggling is to detach from canal walls and drum Avoids perforating drum which a hook deep down could do!!!
Can't see nothing
А как происходит эта фигня!!!!?????????😢
Language foul.
Why not clean properly
Nossa
Wow
