Lol I can’t believe I saw a reference to Humongous Entertainment on your channel. I tried to get my daughter into it a few years ago but it didn’t work 😢
Personally, I prefer branch mining at -54 - its not quite as good as -58, but you'll save a load of time from not mining into the side of lava lakes.... which also stop at -54. All you need then is a bucket of water and then get straight back onto mining. If you mine lower then that, you'll always have the chance of miming straight into the side of a lava lake, which will start to get annoying REALLY quickly!
I'm gonna test some rates at -58, I've been using -53 and find that it's very consistently giving 105-120 diamonds per hour using a 2x1 tunnel with a fortune 3, efficiency 5 diamond pickaxe. I wonder if the time it will take to deal with lava will off set the potential increased generation. I bet it would be smart to make a branch mine at -53 and then map out where the lava lakes are and do a second at -58.
@JaceFletcher Honestly I'm also thinking since bedrock can generate as early as -60, there is a real chance of you finding diamonds at your feet and having the Ore Vein cut off by bedrock beneath. So that probably throws any benefit there is anyways.
AWEOME VIDEO @WATTLES here's a brownie recipe; Ingredients: -1 cup unsalted butter -2 cups granulated sugar -4 large eggs -1 teaspoon vanilla extract -1/2 cup all-purpose flour -1/2 cup cocoa powder -1/4 teaspoon salt -1 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips (optional) Instructions: 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°€) and grease a baking pan 2. Melt 1 cup of butter, mix with 2 cups of sugar. 3. Add 4 eggs and 1 tsp vanilla; mix well. 4. Sift in 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of cocoa, and 1/4 tsp salt; stir. 5. Optional: Add 1 cup of nuts or chocolate chips. 6. Pour into the pan, bake for 25-30 mins. 7. Cool completely, cut into squares, and enjoy your brownies!

I just started a new world the other day. My first big mining trip had me returning home with 49 diamonds. I have never had luck like that before. Its definitely easy to find em now. I was shocked lmao i couldnt believe my luck
@@Bellsbear64 I just found a big cave and went in as deep as i could, no strip mining or anything. Definitely a bit of luck involved but if you can find a big enough cave, you will definitely walk away with a handful of diamonds.
I am firmly on team 3 block gap in the middle. I also tend to make my branches 3 blocks high, which is very unpopular. But, I also dig branches over the center of the gaps. So I basically swiss cheese the whole area from -53 to -58
It's unpopular because it's inefficient and lowers your overall probability of stumbling onto diamonds by spacing your shafts too wide....but, you ain't doing it in my world or anyone else's...so it doesn't really matter since the only person you're hurting is yourself~
@firegodessreiko I used to strip mine exactly like Wattles does, but found my current method to be better. The only diamonds I would miss are singles or a stacked pair at -57 + -58, which are extremely rare at that depth. Any offset pairs have one uncovered, and I find the other.I am uncovering more blocks with the same amount of digging by going higher and skipping 3. I plan my branches keeping chunk borders in mind. If diamonds spawn between -52 and -58, I get them. From having done both, the old way misses more. Believe me or don't, but I'm not hurting at all.
@@firegodessreiko it's unpopular because people have no idea how statistics work, you might miss some diamonds this way, but on average, you'll find more diamonds in the long run

if you really want to increase your inventory while mining . simply keep a diamond or netherite silk touch pickaxe on you and an enderchest. fill the enderchest with shulker boxes. in 1 shulker box keep your logs and torches and extras you direly need for your survival. level -25 is good for diamonds but only 150 to 200 blocks. now in -40 you will find much more diamonds. if you have multiple strip mines going north south east and west, a trick i found is to keep your coordinates on. check your first number going into each n s e w tunnel. go 50 to 100 blocks in each direction whichever one has the most ores, that is the direction you want to mine the most. don't discount the other directions though if you have very little luck in those directions simply go lower, but watch out for the lava pools. good luck everyone. thank you for this video @wattles . i will share.
I like the lame looking pond. Not because it is actually a lame pond but because it is actually a big puddle from after it rains. You should also make a smal pile of gold, iron and copper blocks around the outside of the mine. For any hallway up to 3 blocks wide, you can leave a torch every 24 blocks and still have suffecient light to prevent mob spawning. I also make my hallways 3 blocks high. The 12-15 block spacing is for the old light/mob spawning mechanic.
Since you've already done cranes, perhaps you could make something which looks like a rock ore crusher near your mining chunk. The rock crusher could end with hoppers feeding into chests. You can totally use stone cutters in the build.
Oh my god I haven't thought about pajama sam in years, that's such a nostalgic thing for me too! I remember getting it in a cereal box when I was a kid and playing it on the family computer. We also had an m&m's game that was so much fun
I've made several very large builds almost entirely out of deepslate so I know the "trick" to insta mine it well. It's not that it needs to be at the end of your reach, you can do it up close if you know how. But it's that when you break the block you swing into open air and if you hold the mine through that and move onto another block, it will insta mine all blocks after the first. Again only as long as you hold the mining button down and every time you swing into open air after breaking each block. If you break a block and immediately hit another then it'll no longer work
With wattles mentioning the spooky stories and dark noir I feel like it’s my duty to complete the triangle and for music recommend dark cabaret in the form of Aurelio Voltaire
here's a little tip, when you're done with branch mining and you're going back to the entrance, dig upwards every 3rd block and go as high as you reach. it's time consuming, but you uncover a lot of blocks that way, it's actually insane how many diamonds are just a couple of blocks above you!
I personally like using a 2x2 tunnel and then going over 2 blocks. And also start at -57. Because there can be diamonds that you don't see higher up and you can always go back and dig one block deeper if you really wanted.
the best place to search for coal and emeralds and even iron is on the surface of stoney peaks. It works for frozen peaks too but then you have to remove all the snow. In a single small Stony mountain I've gotten stacks of iron and coal by just scanning the surface. Oh and wattles im gonna build a mine much the same in my survival world but with a Crain at the top and the bubble column surrounded by spruce trapdoors as the rope. Edit: or should I say wattwes
Wattles, alternatively, you could strip mine but then every 2 blocks, look to the side and mine until you cannot reach anymore and then repeat it on the left/right side.
Ore generation is definitely different now. Yesterday I found a chunk of 15 diamond blocks together. I use fan mining with a 3 block space between tunnels.
This why they need to add the bundles in 1.21 is literally the last cave and cliffs feature and every time I travel I get packed fast and seeing how all that mining will fill up inventory is what I'm talking about
Any chance you’ll make bubble elevators on the “non refreshed chunk” side to the layers where you’ll find your other minerals? Item frame markers are so nice!
Hey wattles I love your content and you've given me a lot of info on the game but I got a quick question, why don't you do a bedrock let's play. Let's go lmao
tbh: night vision + waterbreathing potions in deep ocean biomes is best. Find ravines and then find massive caves and you'll have a stack in less than 5 minutes if u have fortune. Worst case you walk out with enough diamonds to have full tools
Though, that's only if your hallway is a single block wide. The light spreads out in a square diamond pattern so for a 3 block hall, I find 24 blocks to be just right.
So in the new diamond update is it -58 instead of the old -54? I had enough diamonds when the update happened I haven’t needed to look for diamonds. I love that mining area you built! The falling even though you know the water is there is trippy. Lol
@@wattlesplays oh that is good to know when I start a new world. I have come across pockets of diamonds when mining deepslate but didn’t bother looking at the y level. Keep up the fantastic work. I can tell you really are inspired by this world.
My current base is at y170 in a Stony peaks biome, there's no need for iron farm and there's sooooo many emeralds but I'm waiting for enchantment table
first off, please fix your armor, I'm actually begging. Second things second, I loved Pajama Sam as a kid! It was my favorite game back on the old dell my family had, yk the one with the cow pattern? Good times.
"When you're branch mining you're not really necessarily just trying to cover as much ground as possible, you're probably trying to find as many diamonds as possible." -Wattles 2024
normally i wouldn't debate 2 blocks between branches, but as soon as you started saying 'proven science' i gotta say 3 or 4 blocks between them is better
Basically no. It's the difference between getting one shot or two shot. I don't bother wearing good base armor in the deep dark. Just cheap stuff with useful enchants.
Not gonna lie, after spending hours looking for diamonds and only ending up with 5 or 6 of them I started "semi-cheating". I mean, its definately cheating but in a way that doesnt deactivate your acheivements.... I make a copy world, set to creative, go down to my main mining corridor and then use the fill command to erase all stone and then write down coordinates for diamond clusters. I have no shame because it's saved me countless hours I can use on other things like builds or farms.
@@wattlesplays may I recommend ilmango's TunnelBore he designed for Docm77 which he has built in each season of HC since season 7 (season 9 he built it several times cause of Scar and Grian) it is a slight grind BUT the rewards are worth it.. And it is really satisfying to run
wattles is a newb. seeing every block is one of the least efficient methods of branch mining. you're not looking for "blocks" of diamonds, you're looking for "veins" of diamond ores. the most efficient, while taking zero chance of missing any normal veins of ore is to have your branches with three full blocks between them. a compact 4x4 vein is visible on one side of the tunnel or the other. its technically slightly more efficient to leave 4 between each, because of slim statistics, but you do have a chance of missing some small veins, but again, the chances of compact veins is lower than not.. simply put, the chances of find a single-block of ore, or maybe two blocks on top of each other, is low chances and low reward, and not worth the extra time it takes to dig 30% more tunnels. leave 3 blocks between each. its the most sensible and very close to the most efficient.
My husband and I start at level -54 cause we have found lots of diamonds there and then we just dig usually to 0,0 cause my husband likes to dig out a chunk. We also have mines on level 0 and 11 too
A TH-camr called Andy King posted a really cute video about Pajama Sam not too long ago I definitely recommend it to you! I think it's a video you would enjoy quite a bit
You said torch every 15 blocks, but isn’t it actually 30 blocks? Each torch gives off 15 blocks of light, so at 30 blocks the lights edge would touch each other?

I loved paamma sam! And i love the tips, thanks
PAJAMA SAM IS ON PLAYSTATION WHAT
YESS
My current base is at y170 in a Stony peaks biome, there's no need for iron farm and there's sooooo many emeralds but I'm waiting for enchantment table
Wattles, I remember Pajama SAM!!!
Mr Diamond pickaxe is my best friend
I don’t know what it is about your thumbnails but they make me want to watch your videos without even reading the title. 😂
THANK YOU THAT MEANS LOTS I TRY
@@wattlesplays you’re welcome. AND the videos deliver in quality too. Keep it up
What’s the best method? Still water caves? Don’t have time to watch it all 😢
first off, please fix your armor, I'm actually begging. Second things second, I loved Pajama Sam as a kid! It was my favorite game back on the old dell my family had, yk the one with the cow pattern? Good times.
I dug 250 blocks at -58 and found gold, iron, diamond and coal I couldn’t believe it
Can't hear the song at 15:10 without thinking of content cop LOL
"When you're branch mining you're not really necessarily just trying to cover as much ground as possible, you're probably trying to find as many diamonds as possible."
-Wattles 2024
normally i wouldn't debate 2 blocks between branches, but as soon as you started saying 'proven science' i gotta say 3 or 4 blocks between them is better
Does better armor help with the warden wattles?
I don't really think so😂
Basically no. It's the difference between getting one shot or two shot. I don't bother wearing good base armor in the deep dark. Just cheap stuff with useful enchants.
My best diamond hack: find ancient city and bring a diamond hoe with forune 3, efficiency, and mending. I've got 100's of diamonds this way.
does this also apply to the version 1.20.81?
Not gonna lie, after spending hours looking for diamonds and only ending up with 5 or 6 of them I started "semi-cheating". I mean, its definately cheating but in a way that doesnt deactivate your acheivements....
I make a copy world, set to creative, go down to my main mining corridor and then use the fill command to erase all stone and then write down coordinates for diamond clusters. I have no shame because it's saved me countless hours I can use on other things like builds or farms.
what was the shader in use at the end?
Wattles, where's the TubnelBore at my guy?
[I'm only joking around, you wanna branch mine you do that. I wanna TunnelBore, so I will do that :) ]
ONE DAY
@@wattlesplays may I recommend ilmango's TunnelBore he designed for Docm77 which he has built in each season of HC since season 7 (season 9 he built it several times cause of Scar and Grian) it is a slight grind BUT the rewards are worth it.. And it is really satisfying to run
y=-58 is for bedrock of java?
Are we gonna mention how he casually found a ten vein of Diamond at 20:54
Why have you never built a schulker farm? Just asking cause I would like to see your design cause you build them so easy and not expensive
good question!! i should do that
wattles is a newb.
seeing every block is one of the least efficient methods of branch mining. you're not looking for "blocks" of diamonds, you're looking for "veins" of diamond ores.
the most efficient, while taking zero chance of missing any normal veins of ore is to have your branches with three full blocks between them. a compact 4x4 vein is visible on one side of the tunnel or the other.
its technically slightly more efficient to leave 4 between each, because of slim statistics, but you do have a chance of missing some small veins, but again, the chances of compact veins is lower than not..
simply put, the chances of find a single-block of ore, or maybe two blocks on top of each other, is low chances and low reward, and not worth the extra time it takes to dig 30% more tunnels.
leave 3 blocks between each. its the most sensible and very close to the most efficient.
how far do u have to build down and how wide is the square i want alot of diamonds
“Diamonds sweet diamonds”
- Wattles
Ive mined out a very large area. 2 dian9nds so far. Running through deep mines is faster imho.
Ok im confused is 1.20 available?
Can you make a video of all yellow text that pops up on the screen (all the info)
I reorganise my torches every 25 blocks aftet mining that hall. Keeps my pace count for distance.
Good vids
mr diamond pickaxe, also, what the music at 15:25 ??
My husband and I start at level -54 cause we have found lots of diamonds there and then we just dig usually to 0,0 cause my husband likes to dig out a chunk. We also have mines on level 0 and 11 too
That game used to be my favorite haha
A TH-camr called Andy King posted a really cute video about Pajama Sam not too long ago I definitely recommend it to you! I think it's a video you would enjoy quite a bit
Build some sort of ancient structure that could have been excavated from the ground
WATTLES PLEASE MAKE Tutorial how to AFK farm blue ice😩😫😫😫 bedrock edition
You said torch every 15 blocks, but isn’t it actually 30 blocks? Each torch gives off 15 blocks of light, so at 30 blocks the lights edge would touch each other?
VALID YES
Black noir sounds familiar. Is it that detective game?
Hmmmm i think LA Noire was but I’m not sure about the other!
I think its time for a storage building wattles??
i agree 😉
I branch mine every other block next to each other so I can cover all surfaces
Hey wattles you should add a stable for your camel that would be a nice build and the hole in the ground is kinda ugly
Youre right!! Maybe a farm too?!
@@wattlesplays yea I also thought about a sheep farm that would add to the factory zone of the world so that would be a cool expansion to the base
