The 49ers being favorites is weird to me. I think the Chiefs match up quite well with them. Andy Reid vs Steve Wilks is gonna be a brutal matchup in particular
Yeah. I agree. I think it comes down to receivers honestly. The 49ers have 2 solid receivers and the cheifs really don't have any good receivers outside of Rashee Rice
@@DuncanHall2070 We also have a star running back, incredible QB, and stellar TE. The Chiefs have an amazing QB (arguably the best currently active QB in the league) and an awesome TE. They both have incredible coaches. But with 5 offensive superstars to 2, it's honestly a statement of how much grit that KC has that the betting margin isn't wider. On paper, the 49ers are way stronger this year than KC, but Mahomes and company have that X-factor in spades.

@@Aperson-sb7bh Prove is a strong word. The certainly have done better so far as the underdogs. But they haven't won every game as underdogs. This just means that the betting odds aren't great at measuring that X-factor and that it does appear that KC usually performs well in clutch moments with less. Will that be enough to overcome a stacked 9er team is the question.
Predictions are hard, and I don’t want to jinx anything as a Chiefs fan. The 49ers are an excellent team, and I’m worried about CMC. Should be a very exciting matchup between the KC defense and SF offense.
If we lose, we can blame Tom for the "Grossi Jinx".
I'm just happy kittle gets another chance. The scene were he stood on the field after their loss the last time around and repeating "I'll be back here" broke my heart. He deserves this!

I don't hate the 49ers personally (despise the Chiefs though), they were just in the unfortunate spot of knocking out the Lions who all of us (even I as a Bucs fan despite Detroit knocking them out in the divisional) were rooting for to go to the Super Bowl. It's also because it's a rematch of 54 which a lot of us find less than exciting, and as a result have lost interest and probably won't watch it.
Still, hope the Niners stick the Chiefs' faces into some serious humble pie like my Bucs did in 2020, they need to be taken down a peg, so I'll be pulling for y'all. If that happens then perhaps I'll watch it lol.

As for the hate, it is kind of hard considering the 49ers history. Yes, it's been a while since the Niners have won a championship, but they still have more titles than many franchises combined. For this season in particular, it's basically like chalk. There's nothing to hate about the Niners this season, but simply being the 1 seed and clear best team in the NFC, people get bored when that team is the team in the Super Bowl. Doesn't help that so many people are ready to jump on the Lions bandwagon this season. It further doesn't help when the Chiefs make it through on the AFC side to give a recently seen matchup. In the end, I don't think there's this much hate, if any at all, if you guys were the 3 seed or something and the AFC team in the Super Bowl was like the Bills.

The biggest focus should be on stopping 15 and 87, if we can do that, we win.

The reason the Chiefs were losing games during the regular season, is because teams would double team Travis Kelce and then that would leave everyone else 1-on-1. That made it very easy for the other WRs to be schemed open, and yet, they would drop the pass. If the WRs catch the ball, it's going to be very difficult to slow the Chiefs offense down. It is definitely doable, but that relies on making Mahomes hold the ball in the pocket, get adequate pressure with 4 rushers, double team Kelce on 3rd downs, and hope that either drops or offensive holding calls move the Chiefs behind schedule.
@@loganleroy8622 agreed, while I do believe that if you shut down Kelce you win the game, they still have some other dogs over there, and I think if during the game our corners prove they can win 1 on 1 reps with their outside receivers I think doubling Kelce will be a lot easier, but if they force us to play zone the whole game I’m not sure how we stop Kelce with true zone coverage

As a Chiefs fan, I don't know what it's like to not be in the AFC/NFC Championship Game. But I have a friend that is a fan of the Bills, and he told me it feels like a kick to the balls.
Heading into the playoffs, my biggest concern with the 49ers was overcoming deficits. Now I'm more concerned about their defense and their habit of starting off slow. Now that the Chiefs' offense is back to performing how we'd expect it to, you don't want to give up too many points and fall behind to them early given their strong defense.

As a Chiefs fan this 2023 49ers squad is probably the worst opponent we've had in our recent Super Bowls (including 2019 49ers with that legendary D-line). Certainly the team I'm least worried about heading into it.... I calls em as I sees em :/ Shoutout to Charvarious Ward who played for the 2019 Chiefs SB and now starts for SF's 2023 SB team
idk. I've doubted our Chiefs all season. Every win in the postseason, I was surprised. And now I distrust the fact that I'm feeling confident in their chances against the '9ers. I hope it looks like the last time they met. McCaffery looked great, but Chiefs D was able to limit him pretty effectively after some early gashes (yes, it was his first game with the team, but a win is a win). And Spags had some great schemes, altogether frustrating San Francisco's offense. Same playcallers going head-to-head. On the other side, Ward has looked better for San Francisco than he ever looked for KC, but perhaps we can capitalize on that familiarity, because there were times back in his KC days that he looked pretty vulnerable. And Bosa, while he's a true great, the KC O-line has faced some really great pass rushes this season (where are the Ravens at, now?). Pass sets up the run, and vice-versa. Chiefs get it done. But I distrust that confidence

They arguably already are a dynasty. 2 rings within 5 years and dominating every year to get to the AFCCG is plenty enough. Sure, a 3rd ring will get those reluctant to acknowledge it, but as a Cheifs fan of roughly 35 years? I'm just happy to be here. Dynasties don't last forever, so I'll continue enjoying the ride until it's done.

“Travis Kelce didn’t have a great regular season” - he still led all tight ends in receiving yards, was 14 yards from 1k and only reason he didn’t get it is because he was hurt in game 1 and chose to sit out game 17 when the outcome wouldn’t effect their playoff seating.
I think we have lost perspective of what a great regular season is for a tight end.
Kittle got the record for most receiving yards by a TE, but the reason Kelce didn't remains true - he didn't play in game 17. Even a low year for Kelce is still great for others.

It's Kelce that makes it go. It was never Tyreek Hill. Because what Kelce does is not running traditional routes , it's finding open space and sitting there and Mahomes knowing what he's going to do.
Yea, when its zone Kelce excels at finding the space, and when its man, he is able to beat the 1on1, so then you have to 2on1 him BUT then you leave open receivers.
Against the Ravens the Chiefs had 7 other receivers that were targeted for catches (30 receptions on 36 targets) whereas the 49ers had 20 receptions on 30 targets across 6 total receivers. Aiyuk was their 2nd top receiver, but only caught 3 of 8 targets!
Chiefs corners are stand out performers this year, so then the 49ers need to rely on the Rush... McCaffrey!!! (the only guy im scared of)

It's possible. The Chiefs defense looked like it was starting to tire against the Ravens, because the offense kept going 3 and out.

I wouldn't call that Brandon Aiyuk catch luck, there was a penalty on that that would have gotten the Niners a ton of yards due to pass interference. It was pretty much a free play that gave us an insane catch much like what we got with that potential Raven interception if it wasn't for Lamar insane catch of his own tipped ball.

After the Chiefs beat the Bills, I had them beating the Ravens. You really can’t pick against Mahomes no matter what year it is.

I gotta knock the "why did they stop running the ball" narrative. I think it's a really shallow analysis. After the Ravens abandoned the run, they went from 19 yards per drive to over 50 yards per drive. It was the right move, the run game was producing NOTHING. Their designed runs had 2 plays over 5 yards. Steve Spagnolo completely took the run game away from the Ravens, just like he took it away from the Titans, the 49ers, took the deep ball away from the Bills, took everything away from the Dolphins... The Ravens coaches aren't dumb, they just couldn't get through Spags and it's time to give a legendary DC credit for his absolute hatred for other teams' preferred skillset. He cripples teams' strengths and forces them to face their weaknesses. In this game, he forced Lamar to pass the ball.

It's interesting you say that. The Chiefs only get better as the game goes along on defense. Spagnolo has really complex blitzing schemes that he saves for critical moments. Purdy can handle them, but it will be tricky for QB to handle them in his second year. Fortunately for Purdy he has two weeks to prepare.
And you really can't count the Chiefs' first game of the season against Detroit for an idea of their defensive capability. That game had both Charles Omenihu and Chris Jones sitting out.

I went 11/12 in the playoffs so far (...Cowboys...) and I'll put my bet on the Chiefs for the SB.
They have more experience and a way better momentum, winning 2 away games where people thought they'll lose. I'll be happier if SF wins but I think the Chiefs dynasty will officially begins next week.
