I hope y'all didn't just buy a hermit crab without knowing anything about them no matter what the kid says tell him no or next time do research and dont buy from chain pet stores such as petsmart Petco pet supermarket or anything like that they dont take good care of their crabs or any of there animals for that matter

Please be sure to do research. Hermit crabs need a proper living space in order to truly live a good, long, healthy life. Your hermit crabs needs a lot of things. Here's a few tips! 1. You will need 10 gallons per crab. So for instance, if you get one crab, you will need a 10 gallon aquarium glass tank. If you get 2, you will need 20 gallons. 2. You'll need to get the proper substrate. Eco earth is the absolute best you can use. 3. They need food just like we do. Pet store crab food has chemicals and toxins which are bad for the crab. They like nuts, fruits, veggies, plants, and more. You could look up foods they need. They also need a thermometer, and a hygrometer to monitor the temperature in their tank. You want to make sure it doesn't get too cold or too hot for your hermie. You will also find that investing in a heat pad will help keep your tank at a steady temperature. Make sure to also get something to regulate the mats heat levels so it doesn't crack the glass. Also crabs burrow, so make sure the substrate is deep enough. Crabs also need access to clean water and saltwater. You can buy dishes for that. Crabs LOVE to climb so be sure to get them things to climb on. For example, you can buy mini logs, rope ladders made from logs, rocks, and stuff like that. Hermit crabs also need a lot of moisture so be sure to get something to mist their tank multiple times a day. They pick up moisture from plants, so also you would need some plants to add to your crabitat. Hermit crabs over time grow out of their shells so you will need to provide them with bigger shells so they can choose one to move into once they're ready. There's a lot more missing details that I can't cover right now, but be sure to do your research okay? Oh one more thing, hermit crabs are very social. It is recommended you get at least 2 to share a tank. But be careful, and watch them. If they become hostile with one another in any way, make sure it's more than playing. Sometimes they do need to figure out who the other crab is so they will be all up on one another. Make sure they don't kill each other. If you're not up to the task, don't buy one.

Sorry you need 5 per crab but since they can live up to 30 years in captivity you should get like 4 or 3
