Saw Red Hot Chili Peppers in LA in 91 or 92, my brother was like Nirvana and Pearl Jam are playing. I was like who? So he played me some of their songs on the way to the concert. In the end, I was a Nirvana guy.
Nirvana was raw intense brutally honest punk grunge rock driven by 1 man who was an artist before he was a musican and who could write amazing simple songs.Pearl jam were rock stars with trained musicians probably could fit in with Dave Matthews band on a tour.. for me not even close. Nirvana all day.. although i appreciate pj as time has gone by
lol when people act like its cooler that someone didn't take the time to be a trained musician cuz they wanted to do it "their way" lmaoo.. such an annoying thing. sorry but that bothers me. Theres nothing wrong with being trained musicians especially when they're obviously technically better than Nirvana. PJ were artists too. Your opinion is totally respected by me but your reasoning is just like every dumb kid who romanticize Kurt and knows nothing about musical what so ever.
Have you not seen PJ live? They've matured, much like how Dave and Krist have matured, but actually even nowadays they deliver long, incredible, intense live shows, let alone back when Vedder was climbing the rigs and stomping through stages. I imagine Nirvana would've had a more refined sound had they had the chance and a longer career together . You can see it on Dave's work.
It's tough to compare these two, cause Pearl Jam has a body of work that nearly triples that of Nirvana's. As much as I really like Nirvana, I'll have to go with PJ (they are my favourite group actually).
thats laughable. nirvana existed a good time before being discovered while pearl jam formed to immediate fame. how many collectible ep's did pearl jam have between 1987 and 1990 hmm.. none.
NIRVANA! NIRVANA! I'm like Pearl Jam too but w/o Nirvana Pearl Jam wouldn't be as popular b/c grunge would be just too new and it would have never taken off w/o Nirvana. Nirvana is my ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND!
Search Nirvana covers then PJ covers. The kids still picking up instruments overwhelmingly choosing one over the other says something. It's cute to watch him having some fun with her for obviously choosing the wrong side. Nirvana were a watershed moment, a historic document. A timeless body of work that's still being processed, copied, and intangibly resonates across generations. Pearl Jam were an embarrassingly safe bar band lucky enough to exist in the right place and time. There's a clip of Pearl Jam covering the Velvet Underground the night Lou Reed died and no one in the audience having the faintest clue. Pretty much says it all.
the youtube kids cover Nirvana songs because it's all simple power chords. Pearl Jam, like Radiohead, have three way more accomplished guitarists which makes it much more challenging to cover most of their songs. As for Pearl Jam being a 'safe bar band'...??? Have you SEEN them do songs like Once and Rearviewmirror live??? If they were just 'lucky' then they would have faded from view by now, but in fact they sold out BST Hyde Park 2020 (London's biggest annual live music event) in a few hours. It's been rescheduled for 2021 and PJ have agreed to do a SECOND show to meet the demand. I saw them in 2006 Reading Festival and there were three generations in the audience. Very, very few artists in any field have that kind of reach. Lucky, my ass!
@Frikinman what does being alive have to do with anything? not like pearl jam are still releasing classic albums or anything. nirvana are the victors. there's no question.
im with her its a dumb question. i was a shy 13 year old boy from eastern washington named jeremy. i was more worried id get beat up to admit i liked either. love each or hate each or yeh be a closet case.
I never once thought or knew there was an either or. The friends I hung out with liked every one of them. Even sprinkle in some Pink Floyd then on to Fugees. How or why would you have been like, Nirvana over PJ? Or vice versa. Must have been an MTV propaganda campaign I missed out on. Glad I did. I guess you had some that listened to the music on TV but we bought the tapes or cds can't remember and just hung out in the basement or the backyard. Idk.
I picked PJ and my brother picked Nirvana and this has been a game between us kinda like when people choose elvis or the beatles and we joke around how the other band sucks balls
@ayanni07 Pearl Jam is nowhere as good as Nirvana. Hell Eddie Vedder loved Nirvana, don't believe me? Look at his quotes about Kurt. As far as songwriting goes, Kurt far surpasses Pearl Jam. Musicianship, nah Kurt is a phenominal guitarist. Very underrated and very misunderstood. You ranking Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains is like ranking The Monkees over The Beatles.
@gowanpearljam oh hush up. nirvana is better than pearl jam. kurt was a brilliant artist who would have grown way more artistically then pearl jam have. his songs are on another level. and his voice was great.
@ayanni07 alice in chains ahead of nirvana too? what a joke! nirvana is one of the greatest bands ever. nirvana are very diverse you just can't hear it. lyrics gotta go to kurt and their music kicks more ass too. pearl jam have some good stuff but nirvana are number 1. enjoy the 20th anniversary of the epic nevermind and just pipe down squirt!
@tubbythug92 Yes, music is for self expression. That's why I don't like Kurts expression so much, as he whines quite a bit. I'm simply defending Pearl Jam's place as their superior, in my opinion.
Der LenchowFoundation Cobain was the anarchist type. He gave no f**k about anything. That was the appeal if you were coming from the heavy metal crowd at the time such as Metallica. Cobain's melodic style appealed to the mainstream crowd. That's how they got popular worldwide not just in America.
Pearl Jam too easily..... They are better but Nirvana had some great songwriting and kurt defined a generation good leader.... But he couldnt really sing in all honesty now
@thatgermankid69yomom Release is a real whiney song, Black is a real whiney song, Yellow Ledbetter is a real whiney song, The Better Man is a real whiney song, Nothingman is a real whiney song. "Yeah music is for self expression, thats why I don't like Kurt's expression so much" LOL give me a fucking break, Nirvana was REAL, however Pearl Jam wasn't. Considering the fact Pearl Jam is Mother Love Bone minus Andrew Wood, and what was Mother Love Bone? A Hair Metal Band. Nirvana > Pearl Jam.
Haha I love the ending "Yeah, me too I liked them both" it's like he was trolling her the entire timeXD
Saw Red Hot Chili Peppers in LA in 91 or 92, my brother was like Nirvana and Pearl Jam are playing. I was like who? So he played me some of their songs on the way to the concert. In the end, I was a Nirvana guy.
"People liked the New Kids on the Block. I'm not on the block." She's so adorable. XD
They. are. so fucking. cute.
Alice in Soundgarden.
"new kids on the block i'm not on the block" lol Regine

hes full of shit too about how raw and brutal kurt cobain . and youre full of shit he sucked as a musician.

Kinda weird how ive seen arcade fire and pearl jam in concert and nirvana is my favorite band
I pick Arcade Fire
It's tough to compare these two, cause Pearl Jam has a body of work that nearly triples that of Nirvana's. As much as I really like Nirvana, I'll have to go with PJ (they are my favourite group actually).
Dyllan Tyrril Triples in quantity with a third of the quality.
+Samuel Morse Ten, Vs, Vitalogy, Yield, self titled, Binaural. All amazing records.
thats laughable. nirvana existed a good time before being discovered while pearl jam formed to immediate fame. how many collectible ep's did pearl jam have between 1987 and 1990 hmm.. none.
@@samuelmorse784 clearly a guy who doesn't know what he's talking about...
@@bobspence5322 Some low quality bootlegs with an at best mid-level singer doesn't do any help for the case.
I LOVE HER JUMPER
And I get to see both bands next year!
Pearl Jam and Arcade Fire?
Regine is so goddamn cute, she reminds me of Beemo from Adventure Time.
My favourite band talking about my 2 second favourite bands :D
Nirvana hands down.
It's funny that the PJ VS NIRVANA stuff is still going on. lol
I liked them both.
NIRVANA! NIRVANA! I'm like Pearl Jam too but w/o Nirvana Pearl Jam wouldn't be as popular b/c grunge would be just too new and it would have never taken off w/o Nirvana. Nirvana is my ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND!
Nirvana wins for irony and sarcasm and Pearl Jam lose for taking themselves too seriously.
I just picked alice in chains !
ny yanks22 Alice in chains, Jane's Addiction, Rush, and the Batman Forever soundtrack.
Fuck the commies.
best voice of grunge, Layne. Jerry is a hellish great of a guitarist
Nirvana all the way!
How about this pick: Green River vs Mother Love Bone vs Pearl Jam?
so sweet!i love them......!
Nirvana, all the way.
i didnt pick sides i refuse to this day

Pearl Jam
Alice in Chains *Undisputed*
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Soundgarden
- They were all/still are amazing bands though
I chose Pearl Jam. Still loved Nirvana, but Pearl Jam connected with me more.
"ALL of Nirvana's songs are SIMILAR and DEPRESSING?" That's a bold statement and a false one.
It's close, though. LOL :-)
lol....I am a huge pearl jam fan, but I was totally into Nirvana as well.
Arcade Fire - Nirvana - - - - - - Pearl Jam
Pearl Jam!!! definetly
@Frikinman what does being alive have to do with anything? not like pearl jam are still releasing classic albums or anything. nirvana are the victors. there's no question.
Nirvana were grittier and far more interesting. Pearl Jam are fantastic musicians but not as arresting and powerful.
im with her its a dumb question. i was a shy 13 year old boy from eastern washington named jeremy. i was more worried id get beat up to admit i liked either. love each or hate each or yeh be a closet case.
I’ll choose nirvana and Pearl Jam over arcade that’s for sure
Nirvana or Pearl Jam? The Smashing fucking Pumpkins!!!
Wot no AIC?
I prefer Pearl Jam but it's gotta be Nirvana.
...(?)...
Lmao! Such an awesome question given their situation! So funny and true!
haha, this is brilliant. Regine is getting so frustrated, it's hilarious.
I'll take Pearl Jam over Nirvana any day.
And I like Nirvana but PJ is just great
You could tell they were married even if you didn't already know.
"No but seriously..." lol Win
Hard desicion!!!!!

Yup, per the comment below, he was trolling her. So funny.
The answer is PJ
@tubbythug92 shows the power of eddie vedder
Smashing Pumpkins.
I pick Mother Love Bone.
I picked PJ and my brother picked Nirvana and this has been a game between us kinda like when people choose elvis or the beatles and we joke around how the other band sucks balls
Totally different bands. Pick both.

Pearl Jam is better. Nirvana is still awesome, but Eddie is still alive.
Nirvana

She sounds kind of drunk but it's just her way of speaking
Her first language is French. It's an accent, not sounding "kind of drunk."
