    Thank you for your instructions on how to store tulips after blooming. Do I stop watering after blooming for a certain time before digging them out? Appreciate your reply.

    Thank you. I'm in Arizona and I'm going to store tulip bulbs for next year. Is it ok to put tulip bulbs in the refrigerator because where I live in Arizona it gets up to130 degrees or more. Last summer it got up to 140 degrees. And I use air conditioning but just to make sure because sometimes the power goes out because I live where in a 100 miles there is almost 7 million people.

    My problem is my bulbs stop flowering after a couple of years. I get lots of leaf. Should I dig them up now in May and dry them out now and try replanting in the fall?

    if I already cut the leaves is it no longer worth storing the bulbs for next year? a day or two had passed after I cut the flowers before I decided to cut the leaves too. the leaves had turned yellow when I decided to cut, but not brown.

    thanx for the tips. I bought tulip bulbs in bags and wanna plant them next fall. the climate in my country is pretty warm. as it could reach 40 degree in summer time. what shill I do?

      +esraa quassim Planting them in the fall or winter is fine, and depending on temperatures in those seasons you could even put the bulbs in a fridge for an artificial period of coldness. They will hopefully be in bloom in the spring and be fading into the early summer, so dig them out and store them as we have done here - making sure you let the leaves die off naturally as they’re putting their energy back into the bulb.

    Thanks! So it looks like it’s okay to stack them (with all leaves facing same direction) - correct? Also if sphagnum moss is it dried or do you wet it? Thanks

    I live in zone 5-When is it safe to dig bulbs up for storage?

    • @valeriesalazar2743
      @valeriesalazar2743 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Late reply but in zone 5 you can leave them in ground all year no need to dig up. After 3-5 years you can dig them up and spread them out to avoid crowding

    Can we save them underground all over the summer and winter ?

    • @wellingtoncitycouncil
      @wellingtoncitycouncil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Azeri Azeri,
      You can absolutely save them underground though they’re not guaranteed to flower or they flower much weaker. Some tulip growers decided to grow them on in pots for a few years until the bulbs are big enough again to guarantee a good flower. Also, cold or wet climates may rot the bulbs if they remain in the soil.

      hei :) det skader ikke å grave opp tulipanløkene i vårt klima heller,. da små løkene som ofte dannes, godt kan separeres fra mor løken, slik at de ikke fortsetter å ta næring fra hovedløken, disse kan siden plantes ned et annet sted,. se hvordan de dyrker tulipaner i Nederland feks,. der setter de løkene i oktober-september, gjødsler godt på senvinteren-tidlig vår, får en formidabel blostring i mai-juni, kutter av tulipan hodene like før blomstene er helt ferdigblomstret, der nest lar de bladene visne ned, og høster(graver opp løkene) så snart de er tørket opp,. så sorteres løkene etter str, små løk skilles fra, noe av løkene,går i salg ut i verden, mens de andre går på kjøl/lagring frem til oktober, og så settes de på nytt, før kulda setter inn for fullt,. slik sikrer man en god og stødig tulipan blomstring hvert år,. Men pass på en ting, noen tulipan hybrider blomstrer stort sett bare en gang,og vil sjelden blomstre eller bli noe etter på,. de bare forsvinner og blir borte,. annen ting er sørg for at hjortedyra ikke kommer til,spirene,. for da går hele stasen i vasken,. nokk av rådyr som forsyner seg, for de elsker jo tulipan,. :)
