Using high/low range gear, in this game, only utilises a single gear and multiplied by a large gear (low range) or by a small gear (high range) - this is called gear ratio. It means it won't change gear like it would it you have it on auto. In comparison, in Mudrunner or the original Spintires, you are able to select which gear you want to use in low range. In simple terms, you'd use low range to crawl out of mud, and high range to cruise in mud - to keep constant motion without changing gear. Also to note: high range gear does not provide higher torque to the wheels. Low range gear provides more torque to the wheels than high range gear. This could be demonstrated by setting off in high range - your vehicle won't be able to set off because it can't deliver enough torque, and stalls.
I completed a lot of Alaska with the BM17, it was a good truck for me! The pipes are cleared through contracts, but some are locked until you complete others.
Guys, I'll explain this simply, as I am an expert on the game. L is for Longitudinal, so can only be used when going East to West or vice-versa. H is for Hexagonal and can be used when driving diagonally and/or on the North-South axis. Hope this explains it.
high gear is for hillsor offroad is definitely use less amount of fuel. rather using automatic mode. cuz the truck loss power when changing gear while climbing in the hill, but in high gear it gives you constant torque compare in automatic
Adolf Hitler before i climb the hill i give the truck some momentum with load and without and switch to high gear and of course it deepends what road your driving to. i frequenty switch gears on certain situation to save fuel. i just playing around the game mechanics of shifting gears on certain type of roads.
Adolf Hitler thats why i give the truck first some momentun. cuz if you want to climb the hill more faster, drive thru some lose grave road or mild muddy road. give the truck some head start like switch low++ if the truck has enough power to handle the high gear thats the part you switch high. its saves you alot of time cuz it faster and saves fuel than low++ but it depends what type of road.
if anyone is interested in changing gears just leave the transmission in auto and tap LB and the correct gear will be selected without having the truck slow all the way down into first gear.
I'm just waiting..since the first game..for you to realise..you are pulling a trailer..which means..swing out for turns... Keep going..you only learn from mistakes...have fun.. 😀
Automatic will always be fastest on flat road. "High" gear is used after "Low" gear + (plus), in rough terrain. Also, whenever automatic is stuck in third, like a hill, throw it in "High" gear. Those gears all have more torque than "A".
High Gear puts the vehicle in its most energy-efficient state but can only be used on smooth flat roads. In real cars, higher gears allow the wheels to be turned closer to the same rate that the engine is turning. This uses less energy and allows the driver to hit higher speeds. In SnowRunner, High Gear allows the player to save on precious fuel as long as they can maintain a reasonable speed. This is a lifesaver near the end of long trips hauling large materials.
from playing this game for the most part i discovered you don't really need chain tires on the alaskan maps especially given the alaskan maps have some really nasty mud sections so tbh mud tires are better here
I have seen a wolf or a dog twice in random places in Michigan in the evening just for a second then it disappears thought maybe I was just loosing it lol.
Scott, it's ok to look at the map frequently. I sometimes like to see it, sometimes it is a bit excessive. But if it helps you then that is right by me
If you ever need to a fuel trailer, pull out a scout car that can use a trailer, detach it and then recover with that vehicle, then go back out with the Apc and attach the winch to the part where it would usually attached to your scout vehicle. Then pull it in as far as possible, you may not be able to use your winch but if you’re smart about it you can
If I'm not mistaking in my off-road hand manual High Gear is high low range gear for off-road pulling Hills in the game they have low Plus so high gear will be low plus plus so if you use a high gear on highways you will ultimately destroy transmission transfer case and so forth by overheating you're not supposed to use it unless you pulling Hills with heavy loads
So high gear is mostly useless in my opinion EXCEPT for the highway transmission on some trucks. My favorite truck is the white western fully kitted with a highway transmission. Takes some throttle control but it is by far the fastest way to get most jobs done. If you use it right in the mud (excluding deep bogs) you can literally zip over the mud like ur driving on pavement
Try this Use a truck with a flatbed with the side (not sure of the name ) and a crane Go the the a collect the wooden planks the uppack it Use the crane the remove it the pack more wooden planks use the crane again to remove it Pack another And the use the crane a put all of the on the truck And do all the bridges at ones

This gear can only be used when the vehicle is moving at full capacity already, otherwise, the wheels will begin to spasm and the truck will lose speed. Mastering when to use High Gear can be tricky but doing so will save a lot of trips to the gas station for players.
Yup. It’s an absolute lifesaver when hauling a heavy load over rough terrain too. I call it my “go!” gear. Basically turns the truck into an unstoppable force unless you lose too much traction. LOT of fun to stick a Loadstar into H when scouting rough twisty roads. It just keeps going and going, bouncing off of everything like a pinball and never losing momentum. Amazingly fuel efficient too as it drastically reduces your need to be constantly accelerating from every little momentum loss.
high gear is not for the high way use it going up hill and trought a strong current. Stop saying sorry for doing things it's your game play the way you want stop worrying what we think :)
Ice is quite strong only 15 cm ice holds a car easily. I'm not sure about Alaska but even in finland ice can be over half a meter so thic ass ice holds a big truck with ees.
If you use the high range gear box, using high gear actually does improve your acceleration. You start in auto for first gear, switch to high and allow the truck to accelerate, then go back to auto, you will now be in 6th gear. Hell, in many situations high gear is plenty fast on its own with the high range box, i rarely use the offroad box in Michigan or alaska.
I know this is way too late, but you don't need to put the truck in revers when you're in Auto, just press the brake, like in most racing games :) Even seen you done it in earlier episodes 😅

It doesn't have increased torque but max hp instead.
