I saw a Kennywood official in a video saying they plan to return this to a dark ride in the future. It would be awesome if they turned it into a full-blown horror attraction, really twisted and scary and NOT for kids.
An exact recreation of what it used to be would most likely seem hopelessly dated now, plus it actually "used to be" a lot of things over the years. The version immediately before Garfield's Nightmare wasn't the original either. But since Old Mill rides have traditionally been scary in the past (to give young couples an excuse to grab onto each other), a modern theme in that style would be in the spirit of its history but with up-to-date technology.
I have never been to Kennywood, but I have seen videos of the Old Mill, and I actually prefer Garfield's Nightmare over the Old Mill. I love the theming and the story of it. I think this would be a great thing to add to Silverwood, since their official mascot is Garfield and they do not have any dark rides.
This ride is horrendous, probably the worst excuse of a dark ride I've ever seen in my entire life. I'm actually embarrassed that we have this atrocity at our home park. People should be grateful that they don't have this.
On of my first, but it terrified me as a little kid. I remember loving the mascot, though. Irreplaceable pictures/memories, just because I loved Garfield.
My mom knew it as the Old Mill. I knew it as the Haunted Hideaway. I took my son to see it... stood in line so long my legs were killing me... For this?! I never hated anything so much until I realized that they turned Noah's Ark into a submarine. Bad summer. Thankfully, the hot dogs on a stick were still there.
They don't! I went on it two weeks ago and nothing inside was moving as it should (the pizza box opening, the syringe puffing air, etc.) It's been like that since at least November of 2016. I wonder why they haven't fixed anything.
That damn voice at the beginning always terrified me as a kid. I never did go on this but I loved the Turnpike next to it. So every time I was in line with my dad for the Turnpike, I always had to listen to the deep hellish voice that echoed through the tunnel to the outside. Damn mouse. . .
It's sad how much this ride shows that they just don't care about it. I think with the old stunts they have though they could re theme it to the Old Mill. The dog could be a haunted steel furnace, the spider a hanging steel beam, the needle could be a cannon in a powder mill type room, the pizza maybe a steel forming press, and the Gold Rush train and skeletons used in Death Valley could be used here, plus any other Gold Rush props left. Plus lazers and other lights could be used like they are in Noah's Ark this year. The cardboard cutouts could be used as spare materials for boxes and buildings. In the kitchen the furniture and things could be remade to look like boxes. They could use whatever extra props from the storage barn in it if it is themed right. (The Cadillac cars in storage could be made to look like toys for a toy making area or in any of the steel making rooms.) The extra water wheel could turn on the thing for the ice cream truck. They don't need to spend much to make this into the Old Mill. If I remember from what I saw about the Old Mill they just renamed the Haunted Hideaway and that was it. I think I'm going to start sketches and things like that to show to someone who works at Kennywood when I go this year. Are these good ideas?
I've never had dreams when I eat too much. Although I HAVE dreamt about Future Sara from Toonami when I had pistachio ice cream before bed and another time when I had a Celeste Pizza for One and popcorn like, an hour before bed. But mostly my dreams are the same random nonsense I have every night. I actually dreamt last night that David Hayter took me in his arms. (Fan girl sigh)
the old mill was much better than this but they have to up grade for the younger crowd coming along. the OLD MILL was family friendly and romantic at the same time.Tfs...

As much nostalgia I have for this ride, I support that idea 100%... Why not just turn it back into the great ride it once was?

That would be really nice! A throwback without being outdated. :)
That’s a good idea,But Garfield Is a KIDS show
Coaster Pug - Twin Peaks. I'm sure David Lynch could scares one thing up truly demented. The saw mill would be thematically on-point again too.

Yeah, I agree with you. Garfield was my life round age 6.

Nocturne Fexy it's meant for children
My first ride at kennywood when I was probably 5, always a childhood memory like the jackrabbit, still ride it to this day. c:

LPS Panda Productions same

Is it just me, or does it look like they barley fix this ride at all?
I know
this is cool

The dog always creeped me out as a kid
He sounds a bit like Jim Cummings. I can hear SatAM Robotnik in it.

Mystery M Oh and maybe use the old Noah's Ark props they replaced this year for something.
It was so much better as the Old Mill...
Who remembers the pizza box that use to open and close
Garfield deserves better.
Ha! What's really scary is beer + stomach flipping rides!
+Mr. Mason if it was actually scary it could be taken down for "possibly" traumatizing children.
Dank Furby the "potentially" traumatizing children bit reminds me of Noah's Ark lol
I wish to do this ride. I love this Garfield ride. That's a cool video!
its really fun
Welp, it became the Old Mill again in 2021. But if you wanna see Garfield, then go to Silverwood in Idaho.

Wait, I thought they ran out of glasses for this ride ages ago?
This ride is really cute!! Am I the only one who likes it?
Nope. Garfield and Snoopy were my life at a certain age.
@@DannytheTouristThis ride got me into Garfield.
Nope! 😅
That was my favorite kennwood ride and it still is
What they should've done was let Sally do the theming like Rye Playland done.Rye Playlands I heard is amazing
Rye Playland's was lame-o IMO. I'm not into the whole fantasy thing. (Sci-fi is way better.)
it was easy, jon
I am 10 and I'm not scared
Um Garfield what are you on 😂😂😂
He's on the drug called food.
I don't get this ride, how is it scary?
Because it's garfields nightmare, like dream.
Melissa Gerlach idk man idk
It is a ride for children
