I'm a Malayali and I lived in Bangalore 18 years. From what I have seen it is not because Kannadigas do not love their language or do not support their movies. That way Kerala is way behind. Malayalees dont watch movies for our love for the language. None of us would watch any movie to just to support Malayalam industry. We are open to watch any language movie provided it is good. Collection of Tamil, English and Telugu movies are proof. Even Kantara and KGF did amazingly well in Kerala. So what exactly is the problem? I would point to maturity of the audience. Unless there are some commercial elements in the movies Kannada audience is still not willing to watch good movies. Kantara and KGF had commercial elements to it. Problem with commercial movies is it might not translate well outside Karnataka unless they can also relate to the story. I can hardly find movies that doesn't revolve around heroes or heroism. Unless the audience accept good movies why would producers invest heavily in such movies? There is no point in blaming people in the industry. They will automatically change when audience is ready. So watch good movies from any language and build a viewership base. When industry realizes people are ready, good movies will automatically happen.
Yeah as a kannadiga I agree with your point. They expect us to watch the Kannada movie. The KFI has forgotten the content culture. The heroism point is 100% true. They should deliver normal movies too with good content.

Problem is with Kannada film chamber….we presented our product demo 8 years ago just for Kannada OTT. We went all the way from US to India and presented to Kannada chamber and to some producers, all they do is just spread negativity and their feedback was not a bit encouraging. I don’t understand what goes in Kannada chamber. Also, why there is such bitterness or coldness when it comes to such initiatives…

This is reason why people of other language don't watch kannada movies. When kgf and KGF 2 and Kantara performed well in other states Kannada audience were happy. But when their good films get support, people like your mentality increase. We're selfish about our movies but can't deliver quality content. If anybody dares to question we'll get all defensive and attack them to support kannada movies. Why will anyone support anything if it's not good. Nobody wants to spend their money to see average to below average movies. We're too extreme with the love for our language that we criticize good movies of other industries and make bad movies in Kannada and still expect people to watch it.
