Nas is by far my favourite rapper of all time. His writing skills are amazing. He is a modern day Shakespeare. I saw that various Universities are teaching his stuff already including Havard. Not bad fora Kid from Queensbridge Newyork. He is also a very successful Investor now and QB Venture Capitalists (His firm) are going to make him a Billionaire. Top 5 MC!
Not To Forget Nas Dropped Out Of Middle School. Because He Felt What Was Being Taught Did More Damage Than Good.... Because It's Not Told Truthfully.....Great Emcee....
2Pac & Nas met each other on September 4, 1996, Bryant Park, New York, and squash the beef. Pac flew back to LA, and made the song "Me and My Girlfriend" cause he was inspired by Nas song "I Gave You Power" off his latest album "It Was Written" which was released July 2, 1996.
Nas "Last Words" He Speaks From A Prison Cell Perspective "What Goes Around" Is Heavy "Undying Love" Has A Crazy Ending "2nd Childhood" Touches On People Not Maturing.... "Fetus" or "Belly Button Window" Is Him Rapping As An Embryo.... Nas Is A Phenomenal Lyricist......
Good ass review homie! I've viewed several guys who have reviewed & reacted to this song & they (white guys) had very little clue of what he was really saying. I thought you would be the same but u truly understood & articulated that. Kudos
Not only similar, Tupac got inspiration for his version from this song, he loved Nas's album " It Was Written" , even though he took another song Nas made called "The Message" as a diss, but it was rumored to be a diss for Biggie, and Biggie made a song called "Kick in the door" sneak diss at Nas. Could be friendly competition, or a little heated ha... .. I read that Tupac really respected what Nas does at the end of the day, and they ended their beef before he died, Tupac couldn't remove Nas name off the diss track "Against All Odds" after he passed obviously, Suge just let it ride ha, even Suge Knight backed up the fact Pac had respect for Nas. Random facts for you ha
Yes pac wanted to make his own version of this song after hearing nas's...... The dog pound bunch of other dudes was there they say pac went crazy when he first heard this song....... He then made his own version
@John Pac heard this first when we going to eat riding around. Back at the house he wrote the first version of ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND without a beat then trashed it. I got it, like many others out the trash and kept it. It wasn't as good. The day the song was recorded Pac wanted to test one of the new producers who did most of the original music on MAKAVELI album. He went in back room and got him and told him to make the beat in front of everyone as he was writing a rough draft. They made the basic skeleton beat then finished it in post production after Pac did his verse. There's many mistakes on that song and throughout the whole album. After speaking to Nas in N.Y. and making peace Pac decided to remove all mentions of Nas from the MAKAVELI album but after he died Suge left the Nas mentions on purpose for controversy to sell more albums.
That's real dope that you listened to rap music with a open mind thank you. Some rap is not like that and it's so basic. Nas is one of the greatest of all time in hip hop. I hope sometime you can take a minute to listen to " NY state of mind Nas" it's a great song. It was made like 20 years ago
1. Bob Morley 2. Micheal Jackson 3. Tupac 4. Big Small 5. Nas 6. Eminem 7. Jay - Z 8. 50 cent The daily rappers I listen are : 1. Nas 2. Eminem 3. Tupac A magnificent leader and manager is Dr. Dre
TUPAC got the idea for his song ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND after we listened to the song I GAVE YOU POWER by Nas while riding around going to get something eat. It was in July 2 weeks before the recording of the MAKAVELI album, shortly before his death.
What’s that supposed to mean? Brilliant writing was the norm in the mid 90s. Organized Konfusion made “Stray Bullet” two years before this. Nas was/is great, but he was one of many back then. He wasn’t ahead of his time, he was just one of the best of his time.
I often wonder if he was alluding to how companies such as, the music industry, use artist as a weapon against rival companies. Over the years, we've seen and heard rappers being used by their labels to go after other artist for record, sells. In many of these situations, the rappers sold more records after they died. In other situations, an artist would not sell as much or get canned for not going along with the label wars.
for me it means that I am born and educated to fulfill a certain task. Even id I do not agree with the way things go, I want to contribute with what I am build up for. In the end even if I do not want to continue to fulfill my faith and I try to let people not use me, I cant break the circle. It is what I am existing for and that is why people will continue to missuse me for their purposes. If I „jam“ I become useless in the eyes of the people that want to use me. In the end I also want to be used for what I can do well because of that. Its about the dilemma of beeing raised in a violent and brutal surrounding and trying to find a way out.
That's so dope that you, a country white boy, can appreciate genius! Salute from Brooklyn NY 🇵🇷
The way he tells this story about what a gun would think of if it could is so amazing.
Nas is an absolute lyrical genius! Can u react to Nas - Rewind ? He tells a story from the end to the beginning aka rewind. Please?
Facts!! And Rewind is dope..a timeless track.
Yeah rewind might be his most creative piece yet
I commend you for diving into this song, very raw but a lyrical classic
Was just gonna suggest this song too.
One other song is last words ft millennium thug. He describes the feeling of being a cell (prison) and the agony felt inside it felt by an inmate.
Nas is by far my favourite rapper of all time. His writing skills are amazing. He is a modern day Shakespeare. I saw that various Universities are teaching his stuff already including Havard.
