A bit misleading to completely ignore the early Soviet mars landers. NO the vikings were not the first manmade object on mars, that was Mars 2. They were not even the first soft landing, that was Mars 3, although it lost contact aftering landing so never returned data.

America failed to land the rover on Mars a few times, China landed the Zhurong on the first attempt.

You forgot the beagle 2, a lander launched by the UK in 2009 (I think) however. It’s solar panels did fail to deploy after it landed
