  • Even though the 16th of December has passed, this month is regarded as Reconciliation Month. And like every other year, the struggle for recognition for the Khoi and San communities continues. Just recently, public hearings on the Traditional and Khoi-San Bill were held. To tell us more, we're now joined by Chief Glen Taaibosch from the Gauteng Khoi and San Council.

please do not make comments that do not make sense. I am a proud Bushman/Nama that know where I come from and no one will tell me otherwise. The reason that most of the Khoe and San are speaking Afrikaans today is that they were murdered if they speak a click language. For your information Afrikaans is not a White language but was invented by the slaves and Khoisan if as a means of communication in the 17 hundreds. The Boers, after the Anglo Boer War decided they needed an identity and called themselves "Afrikaners" and claimed the Slave language as their own and called it Afrikaans. Honker /Harumub Afrikaner, a Khoe Chief called himself and his people The Afrikaner people in the 1700's and spoke a form of Dutch/Afrikaans and Khoekhoegowab. He was a fearless Khoe Khoe warrior who foyfgt the Dutch and the British, that they had to put a 100 pounds price on his head and persecuted him that he settled in the then South West Africa and were the founding father of "Windhoek " in Namibia. People must stop this perception that Khoisan people can only be found in the Kalahari we are spread across South Africa and are wearing modern clothes, we only wear our traditional clothing when it is traditional gatherings like any other tribe In South Africa. Toa Tama !khams ge.

Afrikaans is just simplified Dutch. I am learning proper Dutch. Anyone who can speak proper Dutch will automatically be able to understand simplified Dutch, however we encourage the use of proper Dutch. One of my reasons for learning Dutch is because I am also learning Nama, and much of the material for learning Nama is in Dutch. After I learn Nama, I will then try to learn !Xoo.

I believe that the ANC made a huge mistake by not acknowledging the Khoisan culture and languages and that they should rectify this as soon as possible. The Bantu and Khoisan people are Africans and should come together and move the country forward as the true owners of the land. Now I have not seen a pure Khoisan on the media talk about how they are only ones who own the land and that the Bantu people have no claim to the land, it is always the so called coloreds who feel that they have absolute ownership of the land even though they are only half Africans. Now tell me how can Half Africans claim ownership of the land over pure Africans?

methodd Find a pure Zulu or pure any other Bantu. You won't they are all a mix of tribes. In the same way Coloureds are a mix of tribes our African tribes are the Khoe and San and the sub tribes of those peoples. The other tribes come from Asia and Europe. You can't deny our African genetics just because you want to. It's there it's in our blood. Our ancestors were here first and we are still here.

Yes some of us are coloured with khoi DNA and Malaysian DNA and some have no Malaysian DNA but are coloured...first do research on the racist term they imposed on us before u get emotional I'm not disagreeing with you that is a fact that some Cape Malaysian coloured people can trace their lineage to the Khoi and San especially the maternal side but then again some of us have been forced into this classification like you and other ppl who are classified as coloured...

They've met their fate with the 1950 population registration act 30,something you Bantus and Ngunis are not taught coz that alone will debunj your claims of us being black hahaha we are Africans not Black go to the Cape(Western,Eastern and Northern) and you'll see the Khoikhoi and Sa'an nations but only difference they have no choice but to identify as coloureds as that was a LAW aimed at those native nations and not the incoming Bantu Nguni and European nations twas only meant to degrade and deny the Khoi and Sa'an nations hence the 1950 population registration act 30,do some inbiased research for once and you'll see...
