you can literally order the parts list for this engine and have a combo that is tested. Its a repeatable race engine depending on goals. you could even make it a street engine where some of the other cams are pretty nice for the lower compression. Overall it covers a broad range of realistic data before you make other choices like gearing and drivetrain.
NK has a real nice video talking about how he designed and picked the cam. For those that don’t know he’s a younger guy that has a speed shop and also designs cams for Cam Motion. He just designed it in his head with no computers and had it ground. Those are stock lobes Cam Motion sells to their customers every day (xa lobes). Apparently he’s pretty good. Awesome job Eric! This was possibly the coolest use of internet time I have seen. Congrats to ALL the competitors for having balls enough to try...especially the ones not familiar with the LS.
Eric, kudos to you and ALL competitors. I'm looking forward to reviewing the data. Hope to learn some of the secrets to cam design. Thanks for making this happen.
Internet for the win! Has there ever been a publication or show that did this level of testing with this much consumer involvement? I can't think of anything close. True grassroots and camaraderie. A great thing to watch. Congrats to every single one of you guys and all the supporters. You guys did more than test cams, you redefined media going forward. Just wait and see.
Take a WELL deserved Victory lap Eric, along with NK performance... Real world, real time ( not data pulled thats close years ago ), on a real useable engine combination.... Well Done Eric and well done to all the competitors, love the ideas on BBC challenge as well.... Thanks for all you do and SHARE with the community!!!!
Too much focus on LSA! Even NK themselves said LSA is just a number and I fully agree. Overlap is what needs to be focused on. If an engine prefers a tight LSA, it’s because the engine needs more overlap.
@@lykinsmotorsports And the amount of overlap a car likes is also dependent on the ratio of intake to exhaust flow. If the flow ratio is closer to 1:1 then the engine tends to like more overlap, if it's more biased towards the intake side, it tends to like less overlap.
I really have appreciated the work Eric and the crew have put into the camshaft comparison. I also can understand your frustrations with people Eric. I have called you before about cylinder heads and I could hear the frustration on your end by receiving another call from another customer. Just remember. Not all people are nasty, Eric. Some are good and enjoy the service you provide and the content you provide.
great information to be had, for sure. when you post the small block test. will be more than interested in results, and what the mules will be. i would like to see a 408 inch base mule and off the shelf cnc afr heads in same size ports, valve size, and compressions. do what minimal work to equalize each set. same header primary siaze and length. for each mule. itll be interesting to say the least.
I was reading some comments on an unnamed blog . The comments obviously come from folks who didn't listen to the rules or , of the testing procedure . I'm fairly certain I heard Eric say that cams would not be individually degreed and instead would be installed dot to dot . To me , the guys who's product finished in 19th or 20th spot , still gave us valuable information ...with not one loser in the bunch . Congrats to all who had the huevos to plunk down the cash and send in a cam . To the ones who criticized the process , the results and the challenge parameters ...I have no such congrats . I can see this becoming a stand alone feature , testing a wide variety of parts . Good work Eric , congratulations to those with balls .

As for the next challenge. I have started growing my own pair of challenger balls. Once they have matured. I will make sure I am ready to enter the competition.

Awesome job. Thank you so much for your work and for sharing the data.
Almost a Superman for getting this done! Great job Eric
Best challenge, best call out, you have made this amazing thing happen. Congrats to the winner!! Cant wait to see this next year.
I’m really impressed by what you did as well. Thanks. Yes big thanks to Gary and his crew, and certainly all the entrants. 🎉 This was the coolest tests on cams I’ve ever seen. Every cam entered was way better than what you’d get off the shelf. There were no losers. Next up Big Block Chevy… 🙏
Thanks Eric, i had a great experience watching and learning and participating in this.
This challenge was awesome!! You guys did a great job !! Can’t wait for the next one. Thank You
Take a WELL deserved Victory lap Eric, along with NK performance...
Real world, real time ( not data pulled thats close years ago ), on a real useable engine combination....
Well Done Eric and well done to all the competitors, love the ideas on BBC challenge as well....
Thanks for all you do and SHARE with the community!!!!
107.1 LSA!!!!!! If I read the cam doctor results right. I love them tight LSA cams!! Awesome work Eric!! cant wait for the next one.
Rich Holdener did a video where the tight lsa certainly won all across the board.
Lsa is just a by product of a cam design setting up opening and closing points where the combo wants it.
@vortecturbo The most powerful is certainly tighter than a emissions standard.
I really enjoyed this competition there cannot be a winner if you don't have competitors . Well done Eric
Kit from down under
I really have appreciated the work Eric and the crew have put into the camshaft comparison. I also can understand your frustrations with people Eric. I have called you before about cylinder heads and I could hear the frustration on your end by receiving another call from another customer. Just remember. Not all people are nasty, Eric. Some are good and enjoy the service you provide and the content you provide.
Thanks again Eric, good stuff. Have fun at the Throwdown
Fantastic Eric, thank you for your efforts and your knowledge!
This was a lotta fun to watch.
That was a heck of a lot of work brother
Hope this puts your business in another gear. Been watching for a while, and would like to see you gain some very due reward.
Thank you Eric!
Looking forward to the next contest!
great information to be had, for sure. when you post the small block test. will be more than interested in results, and what the mules will be. i would like to see a 408 inch base mule and off the shelf cnc afr heads in same size ports, valve size, and compressions. do what minimal work to equalize each set. same header primary siaze and length. for each mule. itll be interesting to say the least.
The sbc stuff has been published for awhile.
@WeingartnerRacing what about sbf stuff for comparison
Awesome job Eric, this was very entertaining and educational at the same time!
Great job ! Much respect for an amazing accomplishment !
I got all the emails. Thanks mate. And I am one of the people with a 650hp carburetored LS.
As a Mopar guy this was great. Appreciate all your time and work.
Thanks for this Eric great work by all involved.
Very impressed with the test parameters. Everything you did made sense.
Hell yeah to everything in this video, you guys kicked ass. Awesome deal.
Would love to see a sbf challenge!
Same. Love SBF motors.
This was a great contest and im very impressed with the effort and results.
Looking forward to SBF Dyno test with Trick Flow cylinder heads
Eric I really don’t care how much money you made from the videos or from the donations. I did donate but because I want the information and most of all, you freaking deserve it. Let’s keep this going.
Thank you Eric for all of your hard work putting this contest on. And congrats to the competitors. Job well done.
Funny how Mr. Camshaft Mike Jones likes shooting his mouth off on Speed Talk, saying how irrevalent this competition was, yet he didn't have the balls to enter. Speaks volumes. Then he locks threads on Speed Talk discussing this contest. What a douche.
He kicked me off the forum as well...... LOL
@@lykinsmotorsports Brutal.... 🙄
Noted. Scratch ever ordering a cam from him .
