    Mike's humility about falling is great. I'm 265 and I slipped on a concrete beam I've got on the edge of my pond. Landed half in the water- knee ribs and serratus to the concrete. Blammmo! Occasional reminders of humanity can be good for the soul, but all my compound movements say otherwise...

    My pro career was short (2 years). Most memorable was my first Olympia (202 Class) and the first 2 shows I did, which I won. Next memorable would be when I was prepping for the NY Pro and chilling with Guy and Jon Delarosa during weekly check ins with Fak. That was the first time I really “felt” like I was a real pro, doing real pro stuff. I remember having fun back stage with some of the guys at the NY and Toronto Pro (Seth Feroce is a FUNNY BASTARD!). I remember being afraid of botching my posing routine, I remember a long conversation with Jose Raymond at the O while we both did cardio. But generally, it was all a blur. I can definitely relate with Mike on this one.

      @@Agony_fitness My career in bodybuilding was actually a hobby that became a Cinderella story. I just decided that pursuing bodybuilding was too much of a risk to my health and to my law enforcement career. To this day, I still train and coach other competitors (mostly others in law enforcement who wanna compete but not go down a certain path in order to do so), but I chose to stop competing because I couldn’t/wouldn’t do all of the things it took be competitive . Too much to lose.

    Ego is the reason we miss moments of our lives. I missed my amateur career because of the pressure, always in my head, focused on “the next” - never present. To experience anything it requires presence - state of consciousness Vs state of unconsciousness when we’re in our head stressing or always looking forward. Gotta stop to smell the roses

    I absolutely agree with Iain on this one. Stop filling the pro ranks with low quality bodybuilders. The best way of doing that, is making the amataur ranks more competitive to make being a pro harder and also while being a pro.
    If the loser bodybuilders want to give up, let them give up. In order to have winners, you need losers: otherwise the game isn't good anymore.

    I’m a cop. I have an absolutely terrible memory.
    It’s partly due to the fact that I try not to remember half the shit I deal with.
    It’s also partly due to the fact that I’m always worried about the next thing/next call the next training session.
    I feel like people who are goal-oriented and productivity driven, focus more on the future rather than the past
    So in terms of memory, it’s just discarded at times and the finer details of the more mediocre happenings

    If bodybuilding is judged properly size doesn't matter. Shawn is a perfect example of this. His muscle matches his frame. So a bigger guy who's taller should be judged against him based on overall look on his frame. Taking it to a size game makes the sport more dangerous

    • @Обзорыинтересныхпрограмм
      @Обзорыинтересныхпрограмм ปีที่แล้ว

      On the other hand taller guys with bigger frames have much harder time filling it out, so it usually takes a lot more time. For example 2 tallest competitors in Olympia, Samson and Andrew are well over 35. While a guy like Derek is 29. I think bigger when other things are equal is better in bodybuilding. You also have to consider that size differences are a lot more jarring in real life than in social media pictures.

    I think the reason all these other classes were made is so the promoters and leaders of ifbb to make more money it was not for the competitors

  • @BENCHIPED
    @BENCHIPED ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The answer to bodybuilding isn't eliminating the 212. Imop I think the IFBB should have the NPC weight divisions as pros and let each class do an overall for the title/money of the show. Doing that would have many more pros be able to compete in a weight class that they belong in. And it would be much safer health wise. You'd still get the monsters in the super heavies and those freaks can get as big as they want. But instead of all those weight classes have say a middle weight up to not 178 but 185 pounds. Have a Light heavy not up to 198 but 210. Heavy weight not up to 225 but 240. Then have anything over 240 as super-heavy. 4 divisions. Ifbb would bring in more money, there be more pros that can actually compete and it would be healthier because people would stay in a certain divisions and still possibly be able to win the overall to win the show. And the Olympia and the Arnold, no weight divisions. You have to the overall of a show to qualify for the no division Olympia.

  • @MajSage93
    @MajSage93 ปีที่แล้ว

    In reference to the 212 argument, I’m pretty sure there is an interview out there somewhere from a few years ago in which Chris Bumstead states that if the Classic category wasn’t created, he would never have competed in open so would have never pursued bodybuilding.
