Seeing this model made me look up how the Primaris Ancient looks like and the amount of SAUCE this 30k model has compared to it, makes this one look so much better in my mind's eye.
honestly I think the heresy team is barely getting any slots for plastic kits so they just crank out resin models which are far easier for them to get approved/into production
I'm thinking that when it comes to allocating plastic production, GW focus is on 40k and AOS. Not to mention whichever one is getting a new edition as that one needs significant production capacity before the edition drops.now that we are in a theoretical edition down time they should be able to get to other games, unless they have some other things scheduled. I would also think that with how vehicle heavy heresy plastic releases have been, they likely are wanting to front load the most expensive things to move over to plastic first and then move onto the cheaper things.

>GW releases a plastic kit that allows you to make not only a command squad, but also a Legion Herald. >Also GW "Let's release a new Resin Herald." He looks nice and I think you could convert a cool character out of him, but he is a bit pointless.
I mean its fine but as an ultramarines player I can just use remus ventanus as a heralded and it will look fairly similar. I will probably just look for the old command squads in resin if I want a different one.
I like the mini personally and am actually a fan of the smaller banner. It's nice they gave him a bionic leg and power fist - although I have already made two heralds/ banner bearers so I don't really "need" this miniatures.

Think 3rd printing has you covered if you want 30k themed bionics. I know not all are fans of printing but for me it adds alot of variety to conversions. Agree on the braids, easiest would be paint them silver, give him a chain axe and call him a world eater.
People that aren't fans are people who hate because they can't do it themselves. Meanwhile I am cranking out entire 3,000 point armies without barely spending a penny with models that look far better than any trash GW is producing these days and much more in line with the original lore.
What we actually want for 30k is a plastic consul kit like the old captain one where it gave you a load of options to build /yourdude/ however you wanted Just one kit that comes with most/all of the consul options in a single box. Pick the one you want, and use the rest to kitbash the rest of your army.
id love that too, it would be a hefty box for what would be 1 mini though. Best would be a legion command box with enough legs torsos and bits to make like 3 minis that way youd have all your options and not just the same pose with a different sword. etc.
@BreakfastwithBando they could go the route of the 40k tsons sorcerer box, in that it technically makes 3 models but it's mostly a goldmine of interchangeable parts and customisation I feel like if they're being pushed aside in favour of other systems they should really push efficiency on their plastic production
It’s not exactly a bad model however it’s not the greatest, this feels more like a kit bash model rather than the product of a multi billion pound company. If it wasn’t evident enough Horus Heresy models are going down in quality. Which is a double negative because then the model can no longer justify the price tag. It would be much cheaper to buy a box of generic marines and kit bash/green stuff them, plus they’d most likely look better. I take one look at Instagram and see models that look hundreds of times better then the models GW is currently producing.
What is this, a Company Standard for ants? Ok, but seriously this is a fine model except for the tiny banner. I might pick this guy up for more characterful officers, but I can't really see that being a priority right now
I agree, a company standard should be large and brash, inspiring everyone around and showing off the victories of the company/chapter. I can't realistically see how this tiny banner could inspire anyone, even the old back banners Sergeants used to have in the old tactical squads are larger than this
Ah, yes. The day of disappointment. That is not a legion standard. That's a vexilla on a pole. For a model that is supposed to have Fearless, it should stand out. It should be gaudy. This... this is crap. How did this make it through design review?
thing is its 18 flavours of marines but they are afraid to make them. so we get yellow vanillia vs seafoam green vanilla, if we are lucky we get sprinkles XD
If someone were to make a 3D model of the old style helmet for the MK III kit, would you like to keep some of the new style (like higher detail) so that it would look right with the kit? I've been doing some bits and was thinking about making some custom helmets for them and would love some input.
@BreakfastwithBando indeed. The CAD design takes away so much depth and detail. I like the head sculpt personally, but I've definitely seen better in resin.
I am tired of seeing models with prosthetics. It reeks of 'inclusion tm' especially when they don't look like advanced bionics. In lore can't space marine regenerate limbs?
The herald is a great unit giving units line, buuuuuut it looks like he's carrying a napkin rather than a flag! 🤣 This also should've been in plastic rather than resin
It don't think the miniature is too bad, I quite like it (except the banner), but like i said the other day. Why does this exist? Why do we need this over other alternatives? why does it have to be resin? These points keep popping up in every single miniature release for the Horus Heresy. Hopefully we get some better more wanted kits this year.

He's so much better than than that overseer in the corner lol, thank god, finally they remembered mark III exists. They've actually managed to get the right amount of detail on this guy, the bionic is nice and subdued, he's not PLASTERED in trim
It's a "meh," I prefer the bigger style (also more true RL banners, which are massive) that the original of version Heresy had, however, I these makable out the squad box, no mess no fuss - just bish, bash, boff:- done! However, then GW wouldn't then be able to bleed their customers dry. Edited.
Kinda pointless when you can buy mkiii and mkvi command squads for like £25-28 and have the benefits of plastic, more freedom to kitbash and customise, and you get 4 other lads plus lots of weapons. All you miss out on is a bionic leg and a dei head. Thats not much of a loss at all. This model is dumb and redundant

GW has been recently making character models...
I don't think this is what people wanted by asking for "more infantry".
While Raven guard players still have no characters. Same with Salamanders and World Eaters, minus Kharn.
Look as an Iron Hand fan I'm not complaining that we actually got 2 models.

@5:23 Until you pointed it out, I was 100% sure that was a night lords guy
I thought it was meant to a Alpha Legion joke

I mean this guy is a handsome model, but I can build him with the command squad already. The bionic leg and the sash are neat though.

On the tabletop this guy is basically distinguishable from the squad vexilla guy.
That's a bad design.
As like a raven guard player, this is what i wanted in a banner bearer
Fancy napkin bearer.
We did not need it. We could have made it with the plastic command box.
Some of us already did.
made one with it and resin tyrant siege termis
I agree, a company standard should be large and brash, inspiring everyone around and showing off the victories of the company/chapter.

I think thats the long term issue of the Horus Heresy as an game range
its Marines vs Marines and they made all the marines
thing is its 18 flavours of marines but they are afraid to make them. so we get yellow vanillia vs seafoam green vanilla, if we are lucky we get sprinkles XD

I'm honestly curious as to what you don't like about the head sculpt and the hair?
it just looks like its plopped on top it doesnt look natural. The whole head looks very CAD sculpted to me.
@BreakfastwithBando indeed. The CAD design takes away so much depth and detail. I like the head sculpt personally, but I've definitely seen better in resin.
would be crazy if GW decided to just make the new Horus Heresy characters in plastic
I’m far from an expert when it comes to playing 30k and the units, but is he even supposed to have the Aquila? I thought that was a post Heresy thing?
I am tired of seeing models with prosthetics. It reeks of 'inclusion tm' especially when they don't look like advanced bionics. In lore can't space marine regenerate limbs?
no they cant. they are tough as nails but a limb missing is a limb missing
@@BreakfastwithBando I guess I am wrong then, also when is GW finally giving the audience what they truly want? a space marine in a wheelchair
I think this mini is very 'Fine'.
If I got it neat, but I do not see myself going out of my way to get it.
thats how i feel about so much now day. ( i genuinely havent felt excitement in years XD )
i'm just happy it's HH and not MKVI
The herald is a great unit giving units line, buuuuuut it looks like he's carrying a napkin rather than a flag! 🤣
This also should've been in plastic rather than resin
His little penis-tip tabard looks too weird as well, did the imperium have a fabric shortage or something?😂

Not a fan of that loincloth thickness
Its a pretty boring design, nothings going on
I hate the direction MKIII is being taken in. Would much prefer slightly upscaled and more dynamic versions of the old aesthetic.

Yeah you’re right😂
I hope that they dont release 3.0 and put HH into the edition cycle that 40k is in.
No thank you GW I already have a vex
Just buy a Mk III command squad and sculpt on some cloth, ha
He's so much better than than that overseer in the corner lol, thank god, finally they remembered mark III exists. They've actually managed to get the right amount of detail on this guy, the bionic is nice and subdued, he's not PLASTERED in trim
This is as useless as the death guard plague marine icon bearer
It's a "meh," I prefer the bigger style (also more true RL banners, which are massive) that the original of version Heresy had, however, I these makable out the squad box, no mess no fuss - just bish, bash, boff:- done! However, then GW wouldn't then be able to bleed their customers dry.
Edited.
yeah massive banner. Lots of room for decals and freehand.

his hair looks ridiculous but otherwise a very nice model
