Why does the old woman refuse to let Salva go with her when she leaves her home? “The soldiers would leave me alone, an old woman on her own. It would be more dangerous for me to travel with you” Meaning, traveling with someone as young as the boy would put her in jeopardy. (timestamp 6:00) 3. What does it mean "they are walking to nowhere?" How do they survive? Earlier in the book the woman described as an old lady said "I will go to a different village near water", this illustrates that they walk until they find a village with lasting resources. After the village's aides are gone they leave again, giving them nowhere permanent to stay therefore they are walking nowhere. (timestamp 6:10) 4. Why do the boys, Buksa and Salva, fall behind? What have they discovered? Buksa had heard a bird chirping and a saying in the Churchill tribe states, "follow the call of the bird called the honeyguide" being that Buksa had followed this bird chirping they had found honey.
