I PURCHASED THIS COMPRESSOR FOR SMALL HANDY MAN JOBS AND I WAS SCEPTICAL OF BUYING IT .. I USED IT ON A 10-SQ ROOFING JOB AND IT HANDLED IT LIKE A CHAMP .. AND I CAN PUT DOWN SOME SHINGLES . I AM GLAD I PURCHASED THIS COMPRESSOR..WORKS AWSOME FOR MY NEEDS
Thanks for the review. I've never had a dual tank unit. I wonder about dual tank setups like this is getting the condensation out of the top tank as best as possible since the drains on the bottom tank. It's been almost 2 years now since the review. How's it holding up and would you still recommend it? Thanks.
I have this compressor. Served me well for 2.5 years. Then the regulator failed. The regulator is welded to the manifold and is not available in the USA. The unit is made in China. But the unit has a 3 year warranty so Home Depot replaced it for me. Love Home Depot.
Looking forward to a “holdup” review! I just bought mine to replace a Porter Cable Pancake that let me down. Sound, fit, and finish...so night and day!
John I think you will like the new compressor. we havent had it long enough to give a good loner term review in regards to performance and durability but we have several projects in the next couple of months where it is going to get used pretty hard. So check back with us and lets see how she holds up.
John Emerson just a quick update, it’s been several months in the trailer bouncing around and a fair amount of use and not a hiccup it still going strong. And I have been running it off a small Briggs and Stratton inverter generator on some job sites and it runs just fine off the small 2200/1700 watt generator
Good review dude, I was walking through HD today and they just happened to have one there and it was on sale so I grabbed it. Man that thing is stupid quiet.
Thank you sir! I was really trying to show just how quiet it really is and I’m sure it didn’t come through on video just how quiet it is but I tried to show it as best I could. It is stupid quiet now we just have to run it awhile and see how it holds up.
I hate the noise the impact driver and air compressors make at work, which is why I typically use a screwgun in auto mode and a drill for most fasteners Got 2 jobs coming up at a place where the client will be home most of the time… I’d prefer to have them not be too annoyed by the noise since I’ve had some in the past that were… and while an impact driver is the loudest, it’s only for short periods compared to the pancake air compressor that constantly recharges since framing/roofing/shooting hundreds of nails in general will do that lol
Thanks for the review. Have you tried using it with an HVLP spray gun attached? I'm looking for a compressor to paint furniture with using a Husky spray gun.
Would you know the db rating of the Husky pancake compressor you compared it to? I'm trying to get a feel for how loud these things are in my research for a compressor.
Morning Chase, I don’t have a dB meter to be able to give you exact numbers, but typically the pancake compressors are in the 85 dB neighborhood vs the 65 dB of the new husky. Not sure if you are aware of the relationship between dB and volume, it is not a 1 to 1 relationship. In rough numbers every 10 dB increase in sound is roughly equal to doubling the volume. So a 20 dB difference will be roughly perceived by the human ear to be about a 4x increase in volume. The other things that make a difference in the perception of the sound increase is is the pitch of the sound, I tried to mention this in the video that the new husky is a pretty low key hum and the pancake is fairly sharp in its sound. This link will explain the relationship between dB and volume in much more detail if your up for some reading. www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-levelchange.htm
I’m assuming you mean the Metabo 914s, that’s a pretty new compressor, just got introduced in the fall of 2020. Looks like a great compressor, I have had good luck with the Metabo tools I have had. I don’t need a new compressor at this time but I will look at it when the time comes for a replacement. I did the review on the Husky over two years ago and she is still going strong, technology changes very rapidly so it is good to see companies continue to innovate and bring great new products to market.
Good review, looks really well built. We do residential painting but we will do wood repairs from time to time. How well do you think it will hold up for spraying texture?
Thank you so much ! I’m trying to figure out the right formula to make the reviews informative and entertaining so I appreciate all the feedback and stay tuned for lots more videos coming on some really cool projects we have going on.
Yea I know they were all put away on the shelf directly behind where I was standing, most of them live in the tool trailer anyway and are used at the job sites so check out the trailer build video you will see them there.
colas solorzano I could not say which one is louder. I don’t have a California Air Products compressor to be able to do a side by side comparison. According to the manufacturers specs they are very close. DB ratings are only one piece of the puzzle, you also have to look at the pitch and timbre of the sounds as well. This video was to compare the new husky to the pancake compressors that millions of people have already and I this case there is a significant sound reduction with the new Husky. Also I believe the California is more expensive and in my area not readily available so I would have to order it and loose the ability to go into the store and swap it out if I have a problem on the job site. The only way to do a real test between the Husky and the California Air Products would be to set them side by side in the same room with the same microphone at the same distance and the same amount of gain on the input signal. If everything is not the same then the test won’t produce valid results. If you move the mic 6 inches or turn it slightly or use different settings and the results will be different. The bottom line for me is that both the Husky and the California Air Products are both good compressors, both are using newer technology to reduce the amount of noise they create while running and that makes the job site a better place to work. Your not going to go wrong with either one so buy the one you like and put it to work they will both do the job very well.
I just got one for 160$ new it works good I’m wondering how long it will last I had a 150psi bostitch 6 gallon pancake compressor an that thing was so loud when I seen this husky compressor turn on in person kinda blew my mind how quiet it is it’s actually quiet just hope it will last a good few years one thing I am gonna try to do is put rubber wheels on it the stock wheels ain’t the best on my driveway the concrete is messed up
Thank you for sharing your in depth thoughts ...... what exactly is your opinion based on? My compressor has been bumpin around in my job trailer for 6 months now and has been used for many decks and roofs and framing jobs, still goin strong and hasn’t missed a beat.....
R2 Customs i got one last cristmast and only lasted 4 months i do remodeling work and it worked for 3 hrs and it shot it self and turned over the nex day took it to Home Depot and got another one a month ago and this other one started to do the same thing today soo im not happy with this compressor im going to fight my battle with Home Depot tomorrow
Abner Flores when you say shot it’s self what is it doing or not doing? Because like I said mine has been used pretty regular for the last 6 months or so, I have it mounted in my trailer and so far it has been perfect.
I bought this compressor about 3 months ago for my mowing business and love it.. runs the impact gun and air tools with no problems.. it will blow grass off with no problem also. I would recommend it to anyone..
*After years of hauling around a large,💫 **allabout.wiki/Husky** heavy, loud dewalt air compressor (that ironically was advertised as quiet, supposedly 78dB), I bought this. Facepalm. While it is not ‘silent’, I find myself chuckling every time I use it, sparing all my neighbors the terror of my former compressor. I use for inflating tires, impact wrench, finish nailers. Absolutely love it. And I store it under the garage sink in a 24” cabinet. I paired with a coil 1/2”, instead of a my former 50’ 5/8” hose that I had to lug across the yard from the shed, unpleasantly uncoil.... this little guy is light and portable; just a joy. Impact wrench is still capable of easing lug bolts, flywheel bolts, crank pulleys... just allow for a tiny bit of recovery now and then.*
I think you actually the first review on this particular husky air compressor, well reviewed , answered most of my questions. Thanks
scroll to 7:50 to hear it turned on
Paul Libby ...Thank you. 🍻

I really appreciate how thoroughly you covered this
I bought one today. Its actually a lot quieter than it sounds in the video. I use it to blow out sprinkler lines
does it produce enough air to spray drywall texture?
07:54 to hear the compressor
Thank you for one of the most thorough reviews I've seen on a product. Really well done.
Thank you, you answered the question I had. One of the best reviews I've seen on here..
7:55 he finally cuts it on
9:11 he closes the valve
That’s actually pretty impressive on vibration, my Hitachi I’ve had for many years, I think it actually vibrates the concrete floor in my shop
Solid review, I’ve given this item a lot of thought and your video answered all my questions, thank you.
Thank you so much for your review! I am thinking that I will be buying one; I’ve been eyeing this one for a while
It has worked flawlessly for us on the trailer all year, so it seems pretty solid

In a home or working near it etc Use a heavy extension cord and place in a closet. The enclosed space will cut down sound immensely
Awesome vid man. Thanks for sharing good sir.
Appreciate the review. Any updates on this model?

2 years later, hows it holding up,?
I have one but it start filling to slow after a month can you give me a tip on what to do to make work like it use to?

Is it electric?
What size extension cord do you recommend

FFW to @ 7:56 to get to the point.
Thanks for the review.

Was wondering the same thing
Great review, thank you!
How do you like that heater you got hanging up behind you?

Nice review, R2.
The air drain is 100 times louder than the compressor itself
Great review
Jordan woodworking Thank you very much !!!
Good review on the Husky...It's real quiet as you said and looks very solidly built. Your camera is a bit blurry though.
Thank you for the comment, the compressor has been in the trailer bouncing around for almost a year now and still going strong.

HUH?? Everyone does NOT have a pancake compressor, I never had one and none of my friends have one.
Sounds louder for me
Which one sounds louder ?
R2 Customs this one. The husky. 4.5. I mean compare to the california. That I been watching on you tube Or im wrong?
