    Actually this man was very fortunate. This apartment complex is located in an area of that tornado path where the tornado started to rapidly weaken. So what you’re seeing here is a very large tornado that is fortunately in a weakening stage of its life. The damage from this tornado a mile or so further west was absolutely horrific and deadly.

  • @CrystalApex
    @CrystalApex 8 ปีที่แล้ว +215

    He got hit by the Bears Cage, not the tornado itself... The bear cage is pretty much the rain and wind that wraps around the tornado, giving it an appearance of a massive tornado. Tornadoes often hide inside these bear cages, so he was close but he didn't get hit at all by the tornado itself....

    • @CaseyCorrupted
      @CaseyCorrupted 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Ced8897 What exactly differentiates the "Bear's Cage" from the actual Tornado Vortex?
      It's all part of the circulation, isn't it?

    • @CrystalApex
      @CrystalApex 8 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      CaseyCorrupted The bears cage is literally just intense wind/rain, which surrounds the tornado itself, it looks intense, and it is, that's also what makes them so dangerous, people drive right into them because the bear cages hide the tornado itself and it's also really difficult to pick out, it also just looks like massive amounts of rain falling which confuse many people, like I said, into driving right into one... It looks like the tornado, but inside the bear cage is were intense tornadoes reside. So technically it could be AND SHOULD be considered part of the circulation to a pro, but not really the tornado itself, more like a wall of wind and rain that has been stirred up by a tornado and obscures it. This man was lucky, once under the bear's cage, you can plainly see the actual tornado missed his home, luckily.

      the eye has no wind, no rain, and is hard to breath. the storm revolves around the eye, a tornado is a literal funnel so there is nothing inside the eye. the chasers who got killed by el reno were inside the eye before dying.

    • @Jr-sw8wj
      @Jr-sw8wj 5 ปีที่แล้ว +74

      DoubleTrouble Not quite correct. Most tornados are so thick, and tightly wound, that they don’t have an eye at all. Every tornado is so incredibly different, as far as their physical characteristics. It’s why they’re the one of the most terrifying, unpredictable natural catastrophes that exist. Some might have a semi-calm area directly at the center, but the vast majority are wall to wall destruction. Even worse, those massive, 500 yard diameter behemoths can even have calm zones that span hundreds of feet. That’s how Tim Samaras and his son died. They were caught at the outer edge of the tornado, and had no clue. It completely fooled them, because the main wall was a 1,000 feet away or so from their car, the winds were just mild, and there was no rain, so they essentially thought they were on the outside looking in at it. And then in a flash, it engulfed the car, as though it had been on top of them all along.

    • @angrypossumsx1259
      @angrypossumsx1259 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Stan the Man As you said all tornadoes are different, this couldn’t be more true for the El Reno storm. By all accounts this was like nothing any of the chasers had ever experienced before. Not only in size, direction and the rapid changes in both but in the actual structure of the beast.
      The wall cloud extended almost to the ground and along with heavy rain obscured most of what was going on when it was nearing maximum size. The main funnel as you’ve pointed out was far from the circulation perimeter but in Samaras’s case was probably obscured by the heaviest rain anyway. However it wasn’t the main tornado that hit them but one of the suction vortices that can be seen circling it in some of the best footage.

    • @Jr-sw8wj

Maybe it did weaken who can say but I promise this is one powerful tornado passing. Go to original and when he goes inside and it comes by he / somebody is filming and it goes thru woods destroying timber. It clears a right a way and never chokes.down nor losing a rpm. It's freaking wicked. I wanted to and still am and plan to get a list of each tornado that day and all the towns , rural areas every thing. I want to know looking at a certain one where it came from and where it went doing what where.

      @@paulspomer16 No, but some large tornadoes have been observed from below when the funnel momentarily lifts to show an interior tube-like structure going up some distance up the funnel from the ground where there is a small area of relative calm in the middle. I might suggest reading the account of Will Keller, a farmer in Kansas, who in June of 1928 got to witness the interior of the funnel. His description can be found in the book "The Elements Rage" by Frank W. Lane (1965) and are repeated on page 170 of the book EXTREME WEATHER by Christopher C. Burt (c. 2004, Burt, published by W.W. Norton Company).

      @theend8091 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if one takes the common meaning of the term "eye of the storm" to be the area of relatively low wind speed near the center of the vortex, most tornadoes can be said to have eyes. Cyclostrophic balance describes a steady-state, inviscid flow with neglected Coriolis force:
      v2r=−1ρ∂p∂n2=−1∂∂
      where centripetal force balances radial pressure gradient. Here, v is tangential wind speed, r distance from vortex center, ρ is air density, p is atmospheric pressure and n is the radial direction pointing inward. From here, tangential wind speed is simply:
      v=−rρ∂p∂n−−−−−−√=−∂∂
      suggesting that v→0→0 when r→0→0. While the flow in tornadoes is highly non-stationary and subject to friction, this idealized model shows why there must exist an "eye" inside a vortex or an area of closed circulation. This "eye" may or may not be easily recognized by a hypothetical human observer inside a tornado.

Fortunately I think the camerman was very lucky, and was hit by the outside circulation of the tornado. I have seen pictures of the aftermath after this video was taken, and the damage beyond the parking lot is pretty severe in nature. Some trees had standing trunks, but every branch was stripped off them. It takes a very violent wind to completely strip a tree of all its branches. Just to be clear, the guy that was interviewed doesn't look like he was the one who posted this with the bogus title. People need to stop saying HE mislead. He didn't do shit. Storm took his video to boost their own page. Video quality sucked anyway.

    A lot of people calling this fake, saying it's calm in the eye of the storm and that it wasn't like that in his video. Sooo I guess when you're in the eye of the storm, everything OUTSIDE is supposed to look calm too, right? And when you get out, everything goes back to being WACKY and WINDY. Jesus Christ, the internet is full of pretentious fools.

      The eye of the tornado is way smaller than this. Even huge wedge (1000m in diameter) tornadoes only have eye of roughly 250m, with calms that will only last for 10-20 seconds. In the video, the visibility is definitely over 3000m, the calm was definitely longer.
      Being in a tornado is not only just very windy. He would have been dead if the tornado passed through him. The whole house will get destroyed completely. In the video, the wind speeds looks like it is roughly Hurricane force (120km/h). I can verify that, because I am a Hurricane Chaser.

    • @kjburns3226

      Uh, I don’t really know what you mean but I’m going to do my best. The tornado that hit Tuscaloosa tracked 80 miles from east of Tuscaloosa to Birmingham to fultondale(a suburb of Birmingham). Alabama had an onslaught of tornadoes that day with up to 90 tornadoes alone.

    Yes.. It was the eye depending on the news it was straight calm in the eye and i confirm its the eye. Its because there was a storm chaser went through a tornado and it was intense in there so yes.

    If he was in the eye of a tornado... he wouldn't be having that interview cause he along with everything else around him would have ceased to exist. The eye of a tornado isn't like the eye of a hurricane where it's calm and still.
