At 5:30 you are referencing a stun-through and you said to lower the tip a little to stun through further.. I think you meant to say raise slightly from the stop position?
Dr.Dave, is there a difference between stun draw and just draw? Look like the stun draw/follow is merely a special case of a draw/follow. Though it does seem like in a real game situation, thinking of a shot as a stun draw/follow rather than mere draw/follow might offer additional control in ensuring we get just the right amount of draw/follow. I've also heard people use the expression "stun through" which seems to be the same as stun follow.
The difference is the draw/follow distance and the technique (faster speed with slight tip adjustments from the stop-shot tip height). "stun through" = "stun follow" = "stun run-through" = "very short follow."
How much (if any) does the type and condition of the felt effect these type shots? I play in APA league and the felt type and condition varies widely from location to location.
Cloth makes a big difference. But whatever cloth you play on, you need to be able to develop a feel for stop shot action quickly (ideally during brief practice before matches begin). Then everything works the same.

The amount of spin is so little, it is difficult to see. The the motion of the CB reveals all. Also, if the tip is slightly above the stop-shot height, a small amount of topspin at the OB is guaranteed. And if the tip is above the stop-shot height, a small amount of bottom spin at the OB is guaranteed.
Couldn't you show what happens if you try to play a follow shot but use too much speed? Many players seem to be VERY surprised that their "force follow" end up as more or less a stop shot due to the speed, making the cueball slide...

Thanks dave. Kudos to you
@@michaelluzon4962 You're welcome, and thank you. I aim to swerve. :)
Isn't stun-back the same as a slight draw-shot?
The Technique is the same.. and the result is the same, so why give it fancy names like that?
It is given a different name because it really is a different technique, using more speed with a close-to-center-ball hit. But I agree that the distinction is small.
@@DrDaveBilliards Thinking of it, I guess I get it now. Thanks for clarifying. I'll try to deliberately play one or the other in given situations now, instead of just following my gut feeling.
Dr. Dave can not write you prescription for prescriptions.😃
But if want to improve you Pool skill, he dispenses great medicine. AKA instruction, and best thing is it is all FREE.
Then all you do is PRACTICE,the medicine most people do not like.😎
Dr. Dave's prescription: PRACTICE (and don't miss). :)
