Rob is a class act.. phenomenal guide and amazing friend a wealth of knowledge! Have the pleasure of fishing with him in Newfoundland and Labrador during the summer months!
One area of Cape Breton that still remains relatively unchanged and you've captured it's soul beautifully. Haven't fished in over 30 years on the Margaree, Middle or Skye. My old haunts, thanks for the sweet memories. :)
What a fitting tribute to Cape Breton, the Margaree and Ray’s passion for salmon and for mentoring new anglers into the sport. I’m one of many new anglers who has been lucky to have had Ray’s guidance as I learned the sport. He was the first one to hand me a fly rod and show me the ropes and was there when I caught my first trout and salmon. I’m so thankful for the time he has taken to share his knowledge and passion for fly fishing with me and his love for teaching new anglers the skills and ethics of the sport is so evident in this show. Great work, Ray!!! Congratulations!
My husband and I honeymooned in Nova Scotia and had our first fly fishing experience on the Margaree forks. We had no clue at the time the significance of the Margaree or how addictive fly fishing would be. We will always love Nova Scotia and fly fishing!
Wonderful video. I just got back from a trip to the valley. Mostly vacation but I did get to fish with Robert Chanson. Great guy and guide. Highly recommend him. I also landed my first Atlantic salmon a few days later thanks to his coaching.
I’m not sure how much I could enjoy myself if I knew somebody was waiting on me to fish through a pool. Better than getting cut off I guess. I do like very much the bit at the end about young anglers, very true and inspiring.
It's really not that bad, the most effective way to fish the pools on the margaree is to step-cast-swing. No need to flog the taking spot, or beat through the pool slowly. Locals are friendly, and sharing the pools normally makes for good conversation.
Salmon fishing. Fourth day before a take and he’s off! Not that I wouldn’t or haven’t done it but be prepared. Salmon are different and can be difficult.
The gee unweighted, single, BARBLESS hook only. On top it’s classic pattern allowing more leverage to be applied by the fish! losing it was always a possibility no matter how talented you are. Those factors take it to the next level
To me, Robert Chiasson, is one of the very best! It's a joy to watch him and those who fish with him are always happy they did!

Loved this film, It told the real story, lost fish, hard fishing put more than anything the fact the new kids are into it. ❤ and they care, thank God.
One of the most pleasent movies I ever seen in long time. Amazing job guys. Looks like bucket list got a new destination.

Magnificently beautiful show Ray. It's been 25 years since my last visit to the Margaree and you and Rob took me back there. Thanks.

I completely agree. I’m heading up 3 friends in 2 weeks and we’ll be working pools for hours between us.. not sure how that’ll go.

I was fishing the Marg just last week! Bizarre seeing views from home on my favorite show!
Great Episode, will be back to CB soon. That fish on the estuary pool has me motivated to come back!
I’ll be there on Sunday.
good luck, hope the salmon cooperate
At the 15-minute mark, why should one cast downstream as opposed to an upstream cast for a natural drift?
Bien😊
the flamethrower was invented in scotland as well by a guy named duncan egan i believe
Beautiful River the Margeree is loaded with fat speckled trout.. I rented an A frame for 60$ a day yea it was 25 years ago.
