    I live on the East Side and the nearest bridge I live by is 106th street bridge. My favorite bridge is the Chicago Skyway Toll Bridge. We take 106th st bridge to head towards I-94 or I-57. We don’t really go on 100th st bridge but have we a few times. We haven’t gone through 95th st bridge in a while. And we would go through Ewing Ave bridge a lot. We’ve never been through Torrence Ave bridge. And a few times when the bridge on 106th st was up and we were on our way to I-94 or I-57, we would go through S Ave O, and head towards E 126th Pl and turn on E 130th st and go over that bridge to merge onto Bishop Ford Freeway. And then head north to I-57 or stay onto I-94. I love that Chicago has a lot of bridges.

      thank you so much for this amazing comment! i didnt really cover the skyway bridge since i was going this on foot and getting up there on foot would be a bit dangerous lol. but i agree, even in a car the view from the skyway is insane. thank you so much for watching my video, i have another one on all the bridges on the little calumet and you may like that as well! thanks again for commetning!

      @@onesixfive Yeah the Chicago Skyway Toll Bridge is very beautiful! I wish to cross the 100th st bridge more since the toll bridge is closer to it. It’s very far away from the 106th st bridge. But you can see the toll bridge from far away like you can see it from the Indiana Toll Road after paying the toll. You can also see it from Indianapolis Ave and also from the exit ramp onto Stony Island Ave from Bishop Ford Freeway to get to 103rd st. I’ll definitely check out the other videos. My second favorite thing about the East Side is the graffiti art wall on S Ave L. It’s very beautiful, and there’s also graffiti on Ewing Ave and 100th st underneath the skyway inside train overpasses. My favorite one is on Ave L. It’s the most beautiful. You should make a video on them. Or just stick to the content you make!

      i have a personal association with the 106th st bridge, becuase i will often come north on ave O from hegewisch, west on 106th, then south on torrence. part of a bike route ive done 100 times probably. i have used 100th in the same way if i want to bike a little further but not that often. when i think of the ewing bridge i think of skyway doghouse and calumet park (or eating a dog IN calumet park!!). check this one out th-cam.com/video/S3D4Hh-WTY4/w-d-xo.html
      speaking of calumet, when i am coming there from hegewisch i will take the burnham path north until it ends at indianapolis (at the exit ramp from the skyway). the path sort of continues (really just a sidewalk) and then i will follow it up to ewing and go through the underpass you spoke of with the graffiti.
      ewing also makes me think of the labor day parade, i shot a video on that you might like, right in your backyard! th-cam.com/video/5eJQkpRMR4Q/w-d-xo.html
      again i cannot thank you enough for taking the time to comment. im glad you approve of my videos, some idiot wandering around in your hood. im glad i could make some content you enjoy! thank you my friend!

    Love all those bridges. I grew up in Calumet City and have many great memories of going to Cal Park and the East side and all the bridges . It was even more fun going out to the lake from the river going threw the lock and seeing the barges up close and fishing on lake Calumet.

    Great video! You are right. Memories by Wayne vibes for sure lol. Mentioned it before but the desolate nature of the industrial areas of the southeast side is fascinating to me. Those plaques are interesting as well. I should really pay more attention to them. Enjoyed the nod to Acme Coke and you managed to get the Skyway in there too. Following your journey on Google Maps something that really caught my attention is the variety of marshes, parks, ponds and trails along Torrence and Stony Island. So much to explore!

It’s the best place on earth for me, and I’ve been to a few. The video on the Little Calumet is much more exciting, you’ll like that one! Thanks for watching and stay tuned.

    This is great. I don't think anyone has done a tour of the bridges here. More in-depth and interesting than the south side coverage that Geoffrey Baer has ever done. He never dives deep like this into this area in any of his shows.
    Did you partake of any of the many great food options while you were in the area this time?

    • @onesixfive
      @onesixfive  ปีที่แล้ว

      i dont know, maybe 100 other people have done it. if so, im sure many of them were more thorough. when i focus on those facts, it gets me down. then i just think, well, they wouldnt do it like i would. and that is neither a good nor bad thing, it just 'is', if you are true to yourself then its totally unique. some people wont like it, others will.
      i wont say that geoffrey baer is an influence, but i do think of him sometimes because as you referenced, he is the only person out there (outside youtube) that is doing anything even similar.
      id give this video a C+. my other video (2 weeks) on the little calumet is like an A-. you will really enjoy it.
      my current lunch option is that i get back from these 20 mile journeys and i go straight into baltimore foods and get a sandwich and a coffee. they just got one of those digital bunn machines and that coffee is truly awesome. then i go over to petes at 116th/Ave O and i get some cold salad (like macaroni salad) and they sell wraps two for one, i take those home for saturday night, and i will get a parfait (banana pudding is a favorite) and i eat it in the truck in the parking lot. petes is so awesome!
