Meet Designer Leanne Ford:
Leanne’s clean and charming renovation of a 1907 schoolhouse in her hometown of Pittsburgh-where she still lives for part of the year-was her first project to catch the eye of the national design community. The then-fashion stylist made the career leap to interior design, and her white-on-white renovations-combined with her sunny, laid-back personality-have since landed her a TV series and book deal (with her contractor brother, Steve Ford). Leanne splits her time between Pittsburgh and the Santa Monica mountains near Los Angeles, where she’s currently renovating an expansive log cabin for herself, her husband and their baby daughter, Ever. “My style is never one thing,” she says. “It’s many inspirations, many lives, many cities, many memories, all living together to create a feeling.”

Hello, what do you use on the walls to make them look like cement?
I read she stained them with coffee grounds- genius!
That’s just a staged home. The architecture and design of the home itself was not designed by her. It’s called the Philip Dixon house and I’m guessing she and crate and barrel chose this home because it fits and complements her style. However, she and her brother are known to use surecrete overlay cement mixtures to create that cement wall effect. I suggest you check out leanneford.com under her blog-project source which has instructions and links to the product and method she uses. Try the rock the block blog posts as one of them definitely addresses this. Otherwise just google and I’m sure somewhere else she or her brother have discussed how to do it(their way). Surcrete may or may not endorse her method as it might be “incorrect” use of their product but whatever works works. Hope this helps. FYI she does use coffee for a wall wash which is super affordable. She dips a rag in day old coffee and applies in circular motions on the wall for a warm bright and inexpensive textured look
