Best team that ever walked the cricket ground. Flippinn 15 match winners and five extra waiting. They used to crush othersides. Winning against them was like winning a lottery, cox it was so rare

Gilly was a freak , the greatest batsmen I have ever watched. Gilly and Hayden. What a pair of opening batsmen, the way Hayden would walk at the bowler and smash the ball straight back over the bowlers head for six , such arrogance and so intimidating for any bowler, and that was what made these 2 batsmen the best opening combination of all time 💪

One of a kind player, and one hell of a decent bloke. One of the greats of the game, in my opinion. Would have him behind the stumps in my All Time Fantasy XI, not a doubt in my mind. Such a destructive player.

Cricket then was like life, entertainment and necessity with legends like sachin, dravid,wasim, waqar, gilly, jayasurya, warne, murali, kallis, flintoff, etc now it has become a unforgettable memory for a cricket lover..

I’ve had the pleasure of watching some of the all time best batsmen play. Tendulkar, Lara, Border. My two favourites to watch live were Viv Richards and Gilly. You always knew you had the chance of seeing something really special, but it would always be exciting. There may have been better, but these two were the most entertaining to watch.

The great thing about Gilchrist is even though he loves and prefers playing attacking cricket, he has very good technique to handle pace bowling when needed. And pointing and Clarke to tackle spinners no matter how good they are. And with hussey and Bevan along with symonds and martyn to perfectly compete a batting order which is just a bowler's worst job to bowl at when on song. And McGrath, lee, Gillespie, Bichel, kasperwicz, warne and McGill to form the bowling department which was just as good the batting make this the best and the most balanced team after the mighty West Indies teams of 1970s. And their reserved players happened to be Mitchell Johnson, Simon Katich, Hayden, Darren Lehman, David hussey, white, Damien Fleming, Ian Harvey, tait and Shane Watson among several others...just beyond the best a team could be...really missing a team like this these days...
Hayden was not a reserve player but the opening batsman in all the formats of the game,one of the chief contributors to the australian dominance
When Brett Lee used to run whistles blowing around the ground was really scary and horrible...I think such team can happen once in a century

One of my favourite things about Gilly was that he rarely "slogged". He played proper cricket shots, with the occasional touch of unorthodoxy and a ridiculous amount of power and timing.
And look at his company here! Hayden to start, then Ponting, then Martyn to finish. Three finer batsmen in the world you could hardly find. What a time this was.

Dhoni played most of his cricket on slow dust bowls of wickets, not fast pitches and the Indian pace bowlers just aren't very good. Dhoni suffered in foreign conditions. Because he is a flat track bully of a batsman, and is genuinely scared of breaking his fingers while keeping, he should have stayed a beach cricketer.....
