I used to live in a 29 unit building. When someone didn't want something anymore, they used to put it on the basement level, close to the trash door. You want, you take, and if by Monday morning it was still there, then the janitor putted it at the curb.

What happens with the stuff that people put in for their neighbors that does not get taken? Is there a time frame and someone whose job it is to make the stuff disappear when that time is up? I love the idea of that am trying to think of a way to incorporate it into our church community setting without being overwhelmed with stuff...

@@aliceinwonderhouse4760 they are borring and not pleasurable haha. After three years of writing that comment I don't really have anything to declutter, some creams or jeans do not work for me right now and will go to my sister, but other than that nothing to declutter.
My perspective is that minimalism.is not about decluttering, if you have to do it constantly and you have a lot of things to declutter each time for me it is just a compulsive state of getting something in and then out. My perspective is that I need things and I like nice things and I cherish them. However, I do not need more that I have. Resources are scarce and contamination has never been worse

Many people don´t realize that being a minimalist isn´t just about having a few items, that is only the end result. It´s more about a mindset--adopting habits of getting rid of things continually and not adding unnecessary items to your life. This means using up things before you buy another (like not having 3 bottles of opened shampoo), thinking hard before adding another kitchen equipment you might use once in a while. In the end, you might have more items than what is considered minimalist, but you are still practicing minimalism. People like us used to be called "obsessive/compulsive" because of the constant de-cluttering and organizing, I´m glad our life philosophy has become popular now.

Very satisfying video! Just yesterday I did my first declutter for 2021. I counted every item of clothing I had (47) and realized that I literally have 9 hooded sweatshirts. What?!! I realized I was keeping them because of the bands they represented which I love. So I cut off the music logos/artwork from the back of the sweatshirts and I am making a nostalgic band blanket :)
