    Hi Tom, thanks for your accessible content and down-to-earth attitude. Your videos are always a pleasure to watch, and especially for the Dedica I learned a lot from you. Keep it up! Cheers ✌️

    During the holidays this year all I saw all over social media was ads for the Casabrews. I ended up buying a Breville Bambino Plus. Glad to see someone do a review on this Casabrews machine. It might be okay if someone wants to try doing espresso for the first time before upgrading.

    Delonghi Dedica is one of the best coffee machine that you can ever buy.

    Hi Tom,
    Always a good detailed review.

    Thanks for another informative and balanced review! I've always appreciated how you're not like the espresso elitists of old who write off budget-oriented brands like Delonghi (or even Breville). So, when even you say that a machine is "too cheap," it's credible and not just snobbery.
    I'd love to see you review the Ultima Cosa that's sold at Costco. I almost bought a used one out of curiosity, but I didn't because I wasn't confident it would last long enough for me to eventually re-sell it.

      Thanks so much for your kind words! That Ultima Cosa looks like a white label machine, to be honest. I think I've seen it at MediaMarkt. Honestly, I'd suggest to go for an established brand for after market parts and forum discussions. Cheers!

    It does a decent enough job right out of the box but then, that's how it's designed. Let's see it performing as well in a year's time after daily use.

      I have one a year old working perfectly pulling 6 shots daily .
      Twice descaled. I don’t regret buying one so much I got another so I can use steam and reduce time I’m making drinks
      ( don’t get me wrong I love a more expensive machine but I paid the same as the del for two cassa machines)

    i've tried this with a bottomless portafilter, unpressurized, and after 3 failed attempts, i was getting consistently great crema

      Just curious so what did you do different after the three failed attempts that suddenly made it work?

    • @ritwikjs
      @ritwikjs วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      @tanjavh4768 the grind size. When using a non pressurized system, I had to go a little coarser. I also start the shot and fully stop it after 5 seconds or so. I also messed around with using the steam wand to take off pressure

    A very happy new year to you Tom, and congratulations on crossing 100k subscribers. Very well deserved as a 'bastion' of sorts for us 'budget' Espresso enthusiasts.
    Just a quick question, do you have any machine thats your daily driver? ( I do understand you travel with the Dedica but other than that).

    I have two of these , and fyi let the pressure out through the steam wand (for uncoupling the portafilter or running excess pressure during extraction)
    I have similar grinders and run one for steam and one for shots ( it’s cheaper than any other setup )
    I’m just starting out in making my own espresso drinks, and Tom ( great name btw) , Lance and James have lots of great information, you just have to to extract what your flavour needs

    Excellent review Tom! 👍 I really appreciate it. I’m thinking of upgrading to 885 I currently have the 860? model but I can’t find the 885 in the white or off-white colour? that you have because I just bought the DF54 in white which I have to wait for it to get delivered in two months because it’s always sold out. Anyway I’m hoping Canada is going to get the 885ARTE in the colour white or off-white I don’t know if they’ve discontinued that color? Or if it’s just out of stock I have no idea but I’m willing to wait a little longer to find out. I also like the fact that the Delica DeLonghi is Italian designed. Italians are the best when it comes to espresso 👌 of course I always want the best espresso with the most Crema because I make my cappuccino every morning and I wanna make it from a good espresso with lots of Crema and not the artificial Crema so I have a lot of work to do still lol 😅
    *Oh I think your white one is the 685? Cause I was just looking the 885 in white and I just can’t find it in Canada so I think the 885 only comes in stainless steel? which is fine because that’s my second best from white. Thanks i’m going to keep following your videos and I’m even going to refer back to the old ones to learn more because I need to learn how to steam my milk properly and cool the machine off that’s the part I don’t know how to do and usually when I’m steaming my milk water comes pouring through the espresso porta filter when I just finished making my espresso so I have to quickly take the cup out and put an empty cup underneath because it fills up with hot steam while I am busy with steaming my milk? That seems a bit odd? I wonder if I need to descaled it again? I guess it doesn’t hurt to try to scaling it again to see if that helps I’m not sure it tells you to cool it off? In the manual because I got my 680 used my first long eat which I still have but now I’m thinking of upgrading to a new model of the 885 even though it doesn’t come in the colour white I’ll just get another stainless steel when I guess which is fine.

    I have had it for 6 months it works quite well, although one should make a empty shot at first, just to get the water hot. One question I have. Which porter filter did you buy, the one I got 51 mm did not fit alll the way, what’s the company brand? Tnx

    Hi Tom
    I would go for the delonghi, I did by my first delonghi second hand.
    1 question: When You steam Milk, how many seconds do add air into the Milk?
    2 question: If you weigh your Milk before and after steaming, how many grams or ml is added?
    Thanks again for another great video ❤

    the crema is not created by the turbulence or by the plastic channel. Try removing it and you'll still have it. It's created by the CO2 in the coffee if you extract with enough pressure.

    • @TomsCoffeeCorner
      @TomsCoffeeCorner  11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I'd agree with you on the fresh beans, but the stale have already lost their CO2 and therefore the faux crema must be made via that violent stream of liquid ricocheting off the bottom of the portafilter. Cheers!

    Ich struggle mit meine Kitchen aid so 🙄
    Ist ca baugleich mit der dedica, Mahlgrad is schon auf niedrigster Stufe und es rinnt zu dünn durch.
    Mehr tampern kann ich nicht, mehr Kraft hab ich nicht. (Habs auch mit weniger Druck versucht)
    Nehme meist double also 18gr (habs auch schon mit 14gr versucht)
    Frustrierend.
    Aber ich schätz das is halt der Preis den man für eine nicht richtige Espressomaschine bezahlt.
