I have my own TH-cam channel....this video here is not mine but I made what you see in this video and you can use a ShoVac to suck out the engine oil with a lot less mess th-cam.com/video/Uk46vCOGTFI/w-d-xo.html
Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower th-cam.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.
Instead of sticking your nose over the gas hole to smell the gas, as with any chemical, you should keep your nose further away and wave the fumes toward your nose with your hand. That way you can regulate the amount of possibly harmful or deadly chemicals that you're blasting your sinuses with. Other than that, good video.
@47485ksc You should definitely warm it up longer than 9 seconds, we just didn't want to let the video drag on! Thank you for the compliment on our shop -- we like to keep things clean and organized so we can find things for the next job.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. One question for you... my lawnmower seemed to be working ok up until a decided to change the oil a few months ago. When I was dumping the oil, I eventually had the lawnmower turned completely upside down to get as much oil out as I could. Watching your video, it seems that I made a mistake. Now it will not start. What do you think may be causing this? Maybe I should not change the filter... but what about the sparkplug? Thanks!
You mentioned if the fuel has a sweet smell, it's bad, but then you say if it's hard on your nose and burns your nose real bad, it's ALSO bad fuel. This sounds contradictory to me. No?
I can’t find the dipstick on my weed whacker, how do I change the oil? To look at the fuel tank, I don’t have a flashlight handy, can I use a lighter instead?
I worked at a John Deere CP dealer for 9 years as a sales manager... I heard a LOT of them like that. The funniest one, an old man came in with a cassette tape recorder and said “this is the sound my tractor is making, what is wrong with it?”
Replacement Commercial Parts Warehouse I love going into an auto parts store and if I know the counter guy is a newbie asking for a radiator cap to a 68 VW Beatle or points and condenser for a 1962 DeSoto... poor guy, it takes them 15 minutes to figure out why it doesn’t show up on the computer... lol
You should warm it up more than 9 seconds. At least 3 minutes. Crankcase must be warm to the touch. Tipping a mower to change oil should never be done unless there is no drain plug. I like your shop. Clean, organized and well lit. Unlike most of these other youtube "how-to" idiots running mowers wearing flip-flops, zip-tying automotive coils and wet cell batteries to walk behind mower handles/decks, etc. I wish I could find a small engine mechanic like you to help me during the busy season.
G'day mate... you wouldn't know where I could pick up a set of USED swivel wheels for the Ariens 21 walk behind please. Also I've got the Kawasaki FJ180 on the mower with air filter at the front. Can you tell me which side to tip the mower for servicing the blade.
Nope, you can tip a lawnmower on its side, however, always tip it with the air filter on the high side and don't tip the mower over while it's running. This is how you drain the oil out of most small walk behind mowers if they don't have an oil drain plug. You can use an oil removal siphon but those are costly and can be messy to clean up.
So you don't close your vales on compression stroke before tipping your mower over huh?. I think ide rather do it my way, Not the way shown in this presentation.
He just wanted to show off his work surface elevator so we'd all be SO damn jealous. And we are.
Yep
Agreed. 4 inch tall poured concrete porch does not cut it now.
Smell the gas “If you’re not getting knocked over you’re good” 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for taking the time to help me and all of us dummies .

Good advice! I remember that back in school, this was one of the first things they told us about fumes in Chemistry 101.
Wimp
Take the cap off before you tip it so that you don't get oil all over your hand

Thank you for making the video.
I was hoping you were going to put that baby under the lift and open up the drain plug. :)

How is the gas NOT leaking out?

No?
Every time i start it? Ive gone 5 years with out checking or changing it!

Lots of fun things we hear in this industry. "I need a new air filter for my snowblower" is still one of my favorites.

Mirriulah Water Dog - fj180 has a drain plug on one side of the crankcase. The plug needs to be tipped down.
Thanks guy your da man!
Thank you so much
I thought you're not suppose to tip the mower on it's side for any reason? I need to change my oil.

soharsrcpw Okay Thanks.
Thank you!
1:57 white?
WTH….normal fuel fumes knock me over if I huff it like that
I have to tip my mower over, let it drain, then set if flat on its wheels again, and tip it over/ set it flat numerous times until all the oil is out.
oops... I meant to write "Maybe I SHOULD change the filter"
How offer do u change the fillet ?
Absolutely!
My dumass got gas in the oil tank
Mmm the smell of fresh gasoline !!!
