The courts have made it more difficult for state and local governments to control guns. Few states and cities back then allowed concealed carry and having a gun under the seat or in any other place where it was not in plain view was illegal. There were consequences for doing that. The courts and states have changed that which caused a large increase in the amount of vehicles that carry guns. Many of these gun owners don't lock their vehicles up which gives kids access to guns. People who bash liberals don't realize that our current gun policies ane too liberal. Conservative means resistance to change and less liberty but liiberal gun policies are a big part of the conservative agenda.

Growing up in Chicago, getting a gun wasn't a problem...we chose not to get them. They use to leave trains full of guns unlocked on the South and West side, knowing they would be stolen. Personally, I hate guns, the only time I've ever had one in my hands was when I was in the Army. However, I'm not one that believes that since I don't like something others shouldn't be allowed to partake either. Most legal guns owners are responsible...it's not the laws!!

It has been my experience in 41 years of practice that most of them do but are sometimes constrained by statues one way or another. Some legislatures pass no exceptions punishments that seem too Draconian in some cases, others make certain factors pre-eminent that lead to lighter sentences than the crime would demand. It is not always the judge's decision alone. He has to follow the guidelines as set in the statue unless he can show good cause why he didn't. Unfortunately when someone is sentenced to probation, prison, or to pay with his or her life, someone is unhappy unless it was a negotiated plea bargain, and even then someone gave more than they felt they should have.

As you were watching you noticed the judge seemed a little old and soft-spoken and that's what the f*** you commented on. You must be one lonely miserable person.
