this will be very nice for me, because flawless is cool in theory but in practice impossible unless you got a good team which I don't have, so its nice that they are making Trials less tedious!
Flawless was never meant to be for "everyone" ever since d1, was meant for people to test their skill (and luck) to see if they could reach the lighthouse. Was meant for people to play and get better to reach that goal. In theory this works, average players use to be able to get to the lighthouse, form memories with friends as they win their final game against better players because they made a smarter play. But all that kinda goes out the window when there is NO PLAYERS LEFT. And matchmaking limits who you can match against which at this point, is only the best players and cheaters are playing trials. I dont like game developers trying to make everything super easier to get.. we need stuff that is harder to obtain. But sadly destiny's playerbase is far to low for something like trials to be like it use to. Been playing since d1 alpha playtest. Sad to see the game like this but it may be time for me to let it go.
Gate keeping mentality kills the playlist. I have over 400 flawless, and I’m Perfectly fine with this. More people playing is better than the current state. A goal of a playlist can adapt and change overtime, and that’s what happened here
@@Geometric_Atom well, I don't like game devs making everything super hard. besides, as I said that would be fine, but it's not about skill in this game. pvp feels more like ability spam than anything else, I've died more times from people crutching abilities and buffs then actually good plays. I've played several shooter games, myself, COD, Halo, Battlefield, etc etc etc. So i'm a very big fans, and pretty much a shooter game veteran by this point, so I got a pretty good grasp on what makes them fun/good; this seems like a great way to make the game more fun. I can also guarantee most people will make better friendships when the game mode is fun not annoying, I know this cuz the best times i've ever had were in OG CODs. I am excluding the negatives, as I mean the idea of playing a game for the fun of it, to maybe grind a gun but still you're having fun yk? like most my friends I made in this game, it was casually not some sweat lord haven. you feel me? playing a random dungeon, or talking in alive stream before doing some quests, etc. Trials now can be like that, a fun activity where you're still challenging yourself, btw. Getting to 7 straight wins is basically flawless more or less. It's just not gatekeeping people from the lighthouse, which will be fun to finally experience. since it's hard to reach it nowadays when it's again just ability spammers and I can't kill them as a result. TLDR is this is a good game, I want to see it thrive, and anything that makes it more fun is an absolute W in my book!
@@NaderVaderYT I just find destiny 2 has become too easy. Nothing challenges me anymore. Grandmasters feel like normal strikes now. Trials was meant to be the pinnacle of pvp. But like I mentioned, this just cant work with how low destiny's playerbase is. Am I against these changes? No. Do I love them? Meh not really but I dont care. I want destiny to succeed and be what it once was as I've put over 10 years into this game. It feels like oldschool runescape to me (which I still play as a maxed account). Bungie does need to find ways to increase playerbase, and fast. Will this help with trials population? Yes. Will it help overall game population, maybe slightly but that's what they need to work on next before it's too late. I use to have 20 friends I played with regularly playing, now I have if I'm lucky ... 2 friends to hop on once a month to do gms.
Trials is a game mode that would require me to want to engage with the pvp in this game. I don't want to, so this entire thing is completely meaningless to me.
I just unlocked trials last week after starting the game a month before the final shape. I can’t wait to try out the new system and get some new rewards hopefully !!
Too bad I outright quit trials two weeks ago due to being completely annihilated and push out of the skill gap entirely, I won’t be going back not even for these rewards, not unless the population increases dramatically
I hope the UI update is good. In some circumstances, if the game throws enough messages at you, about 80% of the screen becomes blocked from view, including the entire Payer Interface such as health, ammo, weapons, etc...
For the casuals like me that’s not super great in Trials, but can complete a persistence card SoLo in 30-50 matches over a weekend it seems more rewarding. Interested to hear the hard core Trials players take, not much for them to get it seems once they get the new weapon.
Oh well i have heard some good and bad from the hardcore side of the trials playerbase some are fine with these changes and some are whining about how this will just make trials causal and just boring to play
IMO the "Lighthouse for everyone" idea hurts the aspirational aspect of it. I liked that about the Lighthouse, it was something that made me want to get good so I could achieve it. It took a long time to get but I'll never forget my first flawless and that experience won't be possible anymore if everyone can just get there eventually. I do hope the rework works though. If it makes more people happy and keeps them in the playlist then it would be worth it, but if it doesn't work we sacrifice part of the soul of Trials for nothing, and to me that would be a shame. I guess the exclusive cosmetic aspects are still there for it but that's not quite the same.
yeah thats true, thats agood point it was free but ofc they had to change it for no reason, that was a pretty stupid change, I am thankfully all bought up on my expansions, I own them but when I didn't it was a pain in the ass, I will always feel for the F2P brothers
For the pulse rifle, I think that good rolls would be: Left collum: perpetual motion, zen moment, offhand strike Right collum: desperado, headseaker, rapid hit, kill clip These are perks I believe would work well, at least with how I play
That’s one way of saying “I am dog at trials, just give me a free handout because I refuse to be humble and be a better player”. There’s a reason the best loot is tied to going flawless.
A fair game for everyone iam sure 70% of the destiny community would want is a fair game for every one main reason why the pro dont like it be cuz is fair for everyone
@@EasytheGoon The actual Trials sweats don't even like Trials. They all complain about how sweaty it is, forgetting that its literally just them and the few friends they can trick into joining. I have a better time in regular comp than Trials.
Love ya Houndish! Always come to your videos for D2 updates and content first You always provide Especially in these trying times for D2.. Love ya as always😁😁
Everything in the game should have some level of accessibility to everyone in the playerbase. There should be different versions of things like, say, Raids, for the ones who want to just experience the story, who just want to kill some huge Bosses, and the ones who want to be challenged by combat puzzles. 99% of the Playerbase should not have to pay Gigabytes of space on their hardrive for game content that only the other 1% ever experience. I am not paying for the 1% Elite Gatekeepers Ivory Towers unless I can experience them too.
Awesome to hear about the changes! I mean, I’m still not playing Trials because I avoid PvP like the plague as-is, but awesome to hear about the changes!
Been playing trials for years and never gone flawless. To many cheaters and the difficulty needs to be lowered for casual players. But not ever going back to trials.
I’m grateful I grew up in a time where everybody wasn’t coddled and if you were sick of being dogshit or not being able to achieve something you put the time in to get better. I played H2 and H3 Competitively and I promise no gamer today will feel that level of satisfaction seeing the payoff of improving instead of bitching until it gets handed to you like today.
They can try all they want but most people aren’t gonna play Trials. The majority of the playerbase are not gonna deal with cheaters and sweats for loot that is never worth the effort
They should add the helmet glow for the top 9 players streak every week. Over time the rarity of the 7 win shader will diminish. The game needs a form of prestige for accomplishing challenging weekly efforts.
First off absolutely love the amount of work you put into the content houndish. Second, bungie is I think starting to listen because half of what you have had in recent videos is stuff I predicted would happen in d2. This is a good start they need to keep there foot on the gas
Never bothered with trials never been able to do it and yes it kinda sucks as the weapons and armour looks good but hey ho and seeming as there’s cheaters in it as luckyy10p said I’m pretty sure I ain’t missing much
If Trials is to be like Iron Banner, then it will need to be Skill Based with 2 Divisions based on a set KD Number. Like one with KD below 1.5 and one above.
These are good changes. I’ve been flawless before. It was pretty difficult and the other time I went was just because my teams were cracked and the other teams never pushed so some rounds I just took the zone. I think I’ve only been 3 times but I don’t really play trials either so 🤷🏾♂️
I think what will change PVP in Destiny is they have to allow more game modes to be playable, waiting for rift and mayhem every week is getting tiring, they need to let us play everything. Also (I know it sounds crazy and impossible) but some kind of forge or creative mode needs to be added. It’s what made halo so fun and I know in a d2 sandbox it would go crazy
Not using outlier protection seems a big mistake. I've seen many games that crutch on one or two players before the system fully locks in the outliers and resorts the lobby. THEN the good matches come out. I believe that protection is also very important to new players in the crucible. Nothing is more discouraging to them getting constantly rolled in IB by a veteran Trials player every match.
I never had trouble in trials. I play PvP when I’m bored, but frankly it’s often too easy for me. I enjoy pve better. However, I agree, this kind of change is long overdue and will help a broader scope of players get where they want to get without having to be carried. Well done.
Honestly? All of these things sound pretty good. I’ve never been big on PVP, but I might have to hop into Trials with the boys in Heresy to see how the changes feel.
I just wish they would add new weapon variants like the new burst shotgun and what bothers me a little bit is why is Bungie adding unique perks to everything now it takes away the uniqueness
It's like this idea the community came up with like 5 years ago, allow everyone to go while still giving flawless players exclusive stuff like glows and emblems and all that other stuff, that way people would still know. Ofc you know the sweats will still complain since apparently fictional/digital rewards matter so much when they don't. Tbh while you're wasting time in trials trying to get a godroll adept weapon I could have spent like 10 minutes doing strikes or open world and would have a gotten a weapon that is near the same or better. They've made adept weapons so useless it has never been worth it for the past like 3ish years.
I really love the idea of the best of the best attaining the lighthouse, however it always sort of deterred me from trying ever. Personally with ky play style I like that the awards are available to me, who can't grind and sweat. I do feel like they need to reserve some seriously cool and exclusive loot for the top though. As Destiny was pitched (players will have armor and weapons only attained by them and their exploits, from the furthest reaches of the galaxy) Too cool
Best Trials changes in years, accessibility is key to engagement, the number of cheaters and sweats in the current game is horrendous and it's not really open to solo players. I think it might do quite well.
Might try trials tbh I'm ass at pvp so with these changes it'll at least be less of a very clearly pointless endevour but I also just don't enjoy pvp in general and I don't know if the loot can actually entice me enough lmao
Finally, I can play trials, and get good loot!, I went flawless about 3 years ago, and haven't been since, I got a 6 win ticket with 1 mercy solo, a few weeks ago, now, I'll be able to get good loot for it, now, if I got the same ticket, I'd get to the lighthouse, with good loot, not fully flawless, but just about
To be fair, outside of brand new players themselves, nobody that doesn't play Trials already or want to will be jumping in and consistently more so due to any changes.....Trying to change or rework years old playlists or content isn't going to bring in more people at this stage of life of D2. I've played since day 1 and i support any effort but let's be honest here. A lot of the playlists are just stale and played out at this stage. Same strike missions for years, Gambit maps, Crucible has had new maps added but a few in almost a decade is much to salute on and then the seasonal change of maps but same style in onslaughts, battlegrounds and such. I love the exotic missions they've done lately but outside that not much keeps me grinding anymore. My thoughts, my own I know and may be alone there but yeah.
This is a BIG update for trials, long overdue! Anything which increases player population and general fun in the playlist has to be a win at this point :P Thoughts?

Awesome armor aside from hunter which as a hunter main I’m frankly thankful we always get the good stuff lol
I can’t believe I have to play trials again lol, I really want that new sniper
Want that Titan Anubis helmet.
Been saying that for ages!!! regarding lighthouse.
They need to remove level advantages. I’d be in every weekend.
No, they don’t.
@ give me one reason why PvP should have power level advantages
Lighthouse for everyone? That sounds too good to be true
Well done.
Withering Gaze on a hand cannon , very interesting
its pretty clear that they are making #D2 pvp completely casual casual friendly and are moving all of the sweaty like competetion stakes to #Marathon
Weekly performance matchmaking is huge
Hunter helmet looks a little too much like the 30th anniversary helmet. Minus the flames when enemies are near.
Let’s hope those changes counts like over delivery because ITS NOT
How do you unlock trails?
Is that a ponytail on the warlock?! It’s over for me if that’s the case
Quick question; will a 1 win streak trials ticket give an adept?, or do you need like a 3 win streak or so?
WE GATHER TO CELEBRATE THIS W
Why do titans get to be annubis 😢, ig warlocks have it, but that would now require 3 trials engrams as it will now no longer be the base trials armour
It got me excited to play trials and comp again.
I've been saying to let people go to the lighthouse regardless. It should be a healthy change.
I really love the idea of the best of the best attaining the lighthouse, however it always sort of deterred me from trying ever. Personally with ky play style I like that the awards are available to me, who can't grind and sweat.
I do feel like they need to reserve some seriously cool and exclusive loot for the top though. As Destiny was pitched (players will have armor and weapons only attained by them and their exploits, from the furthest reaches of the galaxy)
Too cool
These changes are actually pretty good ngl
This will definitely revive trials
As a pve player i couldn't care less about this news.
It will increase the trials pool significantly
We all know, we just want to look cool with the new armor.
Yo!!! Titan and Warlock Trials armor look amazing!!
I especially like the titan set, sucks that the hunter set isn't as cool but oh well
@ Ye, as a hunter main i’m disheartened by that but at the same time not all armor sets can be winners
Best Trials changes in years, accessibility is key to engagement, the number of cheaters and sweats in the current game is horrendous and it's not really open to solo players. I think it might do quite well.
Huuuge W for Trials. Maybe I am coming back and play again 😊
Actually a bit sad eruption isn't in iron banner this run around
Favorite news Destiny 2 outlet. No ridiculous drama. States the facts leaves it as is. Thank you houndish
Finally!, after 3 years, another battler style pulse!, only took 3 years....
Unless it can take a 100 losses and a 1000 toxic messages and convert them to a adept item still not making me want to go into that toxic place
Might try trials tbh
I'm ass at pvp so with these changes it'll at least be less of a very clearly pointless endevour but I also just don't enjoy pvp in general and I don't know if the loot can actually entice me enough lmao
I want the cobra totemic armor back
As a Pulse Rifle guy, Bungie is really out getting me to play PvP again...
Does anyone know if the glows are permanent?
Finally, I can play trials, and get good loot!, I went flawless about 3 years ago, and haven't been since, I got a 6 win ticket with 1 mercy solo, a few weeks ago, now, I'll be able to get good loot for it, now, if I got the same ticket, I'd get to the lighthouse, with good loot, not fully flawless, but just about
Sounds great to me, took too long but thumbs up 👍
To be fair, outside of brand new players themselves, nobody that doesn't play Trials already or want to will be jumping in and consistently more so due to any changes.....Trying to change or rework years old playlists or content isn't going to bring in more people at this stage of life of D2.
Don't care enough for pvp
😮omg so I don’t have to FLAWLESS TO GO TO THE LIGHTHOUSE?!
But you still need good team to win 7 games 😅.
I never cared about lighthouse gear. I just want the shader
Armor screams " with the strength of Rah"!
isnt trials locked behind season pass or was it current dlc
I believe it’s behind current dlc
I just want that bird ship
