You do that motion on the joints to apply the compound, you just covered two screws and put all that paste on the board,just remember the more paste you use the more you have to sandpaper

Put whatever it takes to completely secure the rock and drive them through the rock, don't blast them through the rock to the stud or truss. Every American drywall video I’ve seen they all run a big line virtually to cover two screws, Just do the two screws instead of trying to look fancy, Less is best, You won’t get a job doing it like that in Australia, we only cover one inch of the screw
I'm a journeyman drywall this is how 90% of people do. Usually not done on the first coat of screws. It takes three coats of mud on the screws. If you use quick set mud you can get away with 2 coats. First coat i just cover the screws with the corner of my knife next two coats are done like this. Its faster and when your sanding you can hit all the screws and one motion going up and down. Instead of having to pick up the sanding pole and set it on each of the screw holes.
