    We drag our floarboards on our police road kings so much that it grinds the edges of them into razor blades. It even starts to grind away the floarboard brackets. You've got a lot more lean than what you're demonstrating in this video. You might check with the owner before you go that far though :). We can usually cut a U-turn in about one and half parking spaces if you start on the line.

    • @MotoJitsu
      @MotoJitsu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yup, not my bike. I’m not going to grind away the thing when he’s trying to sell it.

      I mean, he just did a u turn in only 1/2 space more, so I don’t know about ‘a lot more lean’. More? Yeah, but a lot more? that’s not too bad.

    • @adarngoodjoe4043
      @adarngoodjoe4043 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      4-5 feet is a lot of space when you’re doing tight cone drills. I was just trying to say these fat pigs will really dance if you dip them hard. Real world scenarios would be like cutting a u-turn on a super narrow road that crowns in the middle. You have to stand it up a little to get over the crown and then dip it hard so that you don’t run off the road. It’s too heavy of a bike to duck walk it around if you don’t have to. Mine is a work bike so it gets thrashed. I probably wouldn’t ride as hard if I had my own personal Harley just due to the wear and tear.

    I was expecting some commentary of the different seating position -- the reclined cruiser posture and brake \ floorboard location versus sitting upright with the pegs located directly below. I switched to a cruiser last year (Guzzi 2016 Eldorado) after 4 decades of ridding 'upright' and it's definitely a different feel and experience. Bracing for rough road surface by putting one's weight on the pegs up isn't the same and the relaxed riding position gives me less confidence for the unexpected, but this will come with getting some miles down. I enjoy your vid's - Stay upright and avoid sudden obstacle's!

    • @MotoJitsu
      @MotoJitsu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn’t matter. Clutch, throttle, rear brake, lean angle

    • @xpump876
      @xpump876 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MotoJitsu Yeah yeah yeah the concepts are all the same but not acknowledging there’s a distinct change in position, and the fact you can’t stand directly on the pegs anymore made me feel like your response was expedient …I guess if you’re not acknowledging that ..then that’s your perspective. To me it’s analogous to going down on a hill on skis versus a toboggan.

    • @MotoJitsu
      @MotoJitsu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't need to stand on the pegs or use your legs at all.

    • @xpump876
      @xpump876 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MotoJitsu So, when you see a significantly deep pot-hole that you can’t avoid ..you don’t brace for the impact by getting your weight off the seat and up on the pegs? I certainly do and have figured out how to adapt that adjustment with the “feet forward” floorboards. Taking the full impact in the lower spine is something I want to avoid.

    • @MotoJitsu
      @MotoJitsu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So now you switched from talking about foot location to potholes? If you have time to stand up, sure...but on a cruiser, you probably wouldn't do that...that's what suspension is for.

      I don't know how much this will help, but i guess a useful trick i saw somewhere (maybe on this channel) is if you wanna back it up, but it's too heavy/sloped/bumpy then:
      hold the front break, push on the bike so the front suspension goes down, and before the suspension bounces back, release the front break and use that momentum to start pulling it back.

    I bet you could get tighter turns if you get your body to the inside of the turn. This way the effective lean angle can increase after the bike’s lean angle is maxed out.

    • @MotoJitsu
      @MotoJitsu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s not true at all

    • @raduvasile115

      That could make the turns faster, not tighter.

    • @thedownwardmachine
      @thedownwardmachine 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MotoJitsu the math works out in my head, that's why I said "I bet". There could be real world factors that determine otherwise, but logically it should work.
      More lean angle lets you go tighter at the same speed or faster for the same corner radius, right? So at max moto lean, getting your body into the turn increases the effective lean of bike and rider, so you should get a tighter turn at the same speed. What's the flaw in my reasoning?

    • @lubey111
      @lubey111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thedownwardmachine That won't work during low speeds if the bike is already at maximum steering lock. It can't turn any tighter due to steering geometry, not because of a limitation in centripetal force caused by hitting max lean angle.

      Nothing wrong in showing his skills and sharing his knowledge with ppl. His entire channel is about doing that, so that u can learn, for free! Its like watching a good movie and telling the actor not to perform well. Dont u find urself absurd?
