Deepawali or Diwali is a festival to celebrate the happiness. This festival comes after rainy season in the months beginning Winter.
Lord Rama return to Ayodhya after victory, marks this occassion by lightning lamps (Diya) welcoming his return.
This is also the worship night of Lord Ganesha ( prosperity )& Goddess Luxmi (wealth) for overall happiness & growth.
Every Indian festival is related to season & has scientific values, be it Holi (spring) Ramnavmi (summer) Ganesh puja, Krishna Janam ashtami, Dushera & Diwali (winter).
After the rainy season is over, Homes are cleaned & washed with new paints, new clothes, new furniture & fixtures are purchased, Gold silver or diamond jewelry are also purchased to mark the festival with festivity. Besides these festivals gives a message of brotherhood & also brings colour & happiness in life of all.
Besides India is a land of festivals. Our every occasion for festivity are related to season change. The festival starts with Makar sankranti ( transition of Sun) in January according to English grageiran calendar to mark transition of Sun from southern to Northern hemisphere.
Then Shivaratri to mark celebration of conjugation of Earth & Nature ( called Lord Shiva & goddess Parvati marriage according to Hindu mythology)
Then comes Holi( festival of colours ) to mark the beginning of spring season.
Then comes Basanti Navratri, to mark the beginning of spring season by celebrating the occasion of worshipping Mother Nature in the form of Durga bhawani.
Then Krishna Janam ashtami to celebrate the festivity of the Almighty.
Then major celebration is again after six months, Sharad Navratri comes to mark worshipping of Mother Nature again followed by Deepawali ( festival of lights) to mark the hope of light in Life in the dark night of No moon night.
Then worship of Sun God Surya shasti, popularily called Chhat puia, in winter (November) is celebrated to honour Lord Sun for blessings & our gratitude to give life on Earth.

दिवाली एक धार्मिक त्योहार है। दिवाली पर कई अलग-अलग धार्मिक पवित्र घटनाएँ हुइ हैं। जैन भगवान महावीर, हिंदू भगवान राम, सिख और अन्य धार्मिक घटनाएं इन दिनों हुई थीं। दिवाली पे माँ दुर्गा को भी यद् किया जाता है, जैन, हिन्दू का नया साल भी दिवाली से शुरू होता है।
