    Hi, great work, very inspirational. I see that you are using the yak attak lowrance mount. I saw that yak attack has 2 Lowrance mount. Wich one did you use ? Any problems using it since they are both not for the HDS LIVE ? I'm looking to do the same.

    Just wondering how u gonna deal with the weedy area, using the paddle? Or the xi3 can handle weeds no problem. And without a rudder at the back, is there any problem for steering or just fine. Thanks!!

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depending on how dense the weeds are you can, trim the motor to sit higher, a 2 bladed prop is more weedless, or paddle if it is entirely choked out. That's the true luxury of this setup. Run the motor until you can't and Still able to be paddled

    Also with all this stuff on it, does it sacrifice anything as far as the kayak itself, for example stability, tracking, speed and and just stuff like that, the way it would feel not all rigged up? Cause I like the way mine feels not rigged up much to much. But want to rig it up. But don’t want to sacrifice that stuff like that

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Id say its all the same when its Fully rigged and xi3 powered. the xi3 has good power and can handle the tourney load, make pinpoint turns and Stability is ridiculous on the ss127. This rigging I would get about 3.5-3.7 mph. Don't get stuck paddling it fully rigged it will not be fun! I had to paddle in one time because my remote batteries died I had spare batteries but I did not have the star bit to open the remote itself. 😢

    I like the cup idea with the tool holder, but in the dry pod is where I store stuff I have to keep dry. So I every time I open it I’d have to take everything off the cup. So I was wandering how you store your phone on it

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! I ended up putting my phone in my PFD for that reason and especially on tournament days. If i was out when it was raining then I would use the dry pod for my phone and relocate the cup with caddy to the perch pad.

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great Question. Knowing what I do know now, I would say a Rudder would co a long way in the SS127, but with that Xi3 its not really needed. I would say those flex wings really help that kayak stay on track when paddling it.

    Any chance you can do a walk thru on how to install the xi3 kayak and your Lowrance hds7

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You mean linking the two products together? you will need the motorguide gps gateway kit and a lowrance point 1 gps puck. I believe both products are linked in the description. Basically the Graph,GPS Puck and Motorguide connect on a network cable (NMEA2000) and also needs power. I would suggest running these 3 devices on at least a 20ah battery to leverage an 8 hour day of fishing. LMK if you have any questions!

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Angel thanks for the sub! Depending on what electronics, motor and fishfinder you go with the price can go up really quick. Mine took about 2 years of upgrading and is around $5500 invested. even more today to build this config as inflation is seen in everything, new this layout would be almost $1k more.

    Question? I am about to purchase an HDS live for my ss127. I tend to think that the 7 is the ideal size. However I will be adding active target. Some say the difference between the 9 and 7 is substantial with active target. I'm kinda afraid the size of the 9 would be a little overkill. Do you ever consider the 9 or is this 7 the right form factor IYO? Cost isn't really a factor.

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a really good question, especially with the elite fs 9 and the hds7 being so close in price points. And I actually own both now.
      What I can tell you is that hds7 is much higher resolution and the return to the screen is gonna have more detail and I think to me that's most important. If I was doing active target I would only use an hds unit. The elite fs 9 is less resolution and it's noticeable on side scan and in your case active target use. I do think that 9" is doable especially if your looking at it from the back of your dry pod. If money is not a factor I would say hds9. Hope this helps!

    What did you use for your thru hull for the cable pull down for the xi3 pedal? And looks good and great video. Rigging my ss127 up

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used one of these thru hull bushing from west marine, where the handle is near my seat. www.westmarine.com/buy/ronstan--thru-deck-bushing-screw-on--16014243
      I used one of these cable grommets I had around the shop near the motorguide: www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwi8-ri1xI33AhXYhtUKHcsrC5sYABALGgJ3cw&ae=2&ei=g-tUYu-TMZKWa9P9ovAP&sig=AOD64_14Ca715zl-OjgCqDpFH3uX0CAnSw&ctype=5&q=&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwiv4a-1xI33AhUSyxoKHdO-CP4Qwg96BAgBEB0&adurl=
      I wanted the one near the bow to be more watertight since the hole faces upright and on tidal water or chop and take a wave. The one by the seat is horizontal so water intake in that hole is minimal, if any.

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wrapped a piece of bungee around my 550 paracord a few times then zip tied the bungee and 550 paracord together. I then zip tied the other end of the bungee to a hole I drilled in the bow lip that holds the bow hatch insert. This puts constant tension on the rope and keeps the handle resting snug up against the kayak. When I pull the cable it has about 4"-6" of play before it depresses the motorguide pedal. Then I can just let it go and the bungee will put the cable back flush where the cable grommet is.

    It looks like you've got your 20Ah battery mounted in your hull pretty securely. What did you use and how did you rig it?

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took a cinch strap and wrapped it around the molding where the center pod drops in. I took a foam noodle and bent it in half to serve as a blocker from things in the bow sliding to the back half of the hull. That foam noodle doubles as a tensioner to make sure the battery is held firmly and the cinch strap is not to tight.

    • @OldLineKayakFishing
      @OldLineKayakFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boaty99x that is an adhesive felt pad I applied to the bottom of the kayak and the battery just sits on top of it when it's cinched down. It's the Same felt pad you would use for furniture and such to not scuff floors. I use it to protect the hull from the battery and also dampen the noise on the water and in transport. Would recommend if you follow this rigging method.
