Great review! Idk if I’d agree that the outback is better for off-road. The CVT really ruins the outback for anything off pavement. It’s unfortunate. Cx50 definitely fills a niche for people who are looking for a capable car that’s also premium.
Agree that true, dedicated winter tires are necessary where you get a lot of snow. I had Michelin Crossclimate 2s on my Camry. While we don't get much snow in southwestern Tennessee they were fantastic when it did snow last winter (they don't plow here).
Great video Justin! You mentioned some noise in the cabin from panels rubbing etc. Is it bad enough to drive a person nutty? I have low tolerance for that kind of noise when I drive.
I see you're from Calgary, so you're used to the sort of temperatures I'm talking about! No, not enough to drive a person nutty. Almost any car on this side of a six-figure pricetag will make 'some' squeaks and rattles in these temps, my reason for mentioning it was to express slight disappointment-- I figure a few similarly-priced competitors keep these noises down a bit more than the CX-50. Enough to drive someone batty? I don't think so. Pretty par for the course, really-- maybe just a touch louder than some will expect-- hope that helps!
@@JustinPritchard What are these other competitors have have better cabin isolation? I"m driving a '21 Outback Onyx/Outdoor. It's pretty quiet in the cabin but I'm thinking of returning it and possibly leasing a Bronco Sport or this CX50 (not the Meridian). Also regarding the wiper blade. Is it difficult to change wipers seeing as it has the sprayer nozzle on the arm itself.
Oufff now that's a tough one. And a good idea for a future video. My personal take having spent plenty of seat time in both.... After considering your question for about 5 minutes, I still can't choose one of the two. It's not an easy Pick, but having to choose between these two is a good problem to have🙂
By the way, I did a full video feature on your question, it's in the queue, stay tuned! You should see an XC40 vs CX-50 data comparison video to help you decide in the next few weeks!

First week in and Loving it!

But I give tailgaters a wiper fluid bath hoping they will take a hint😅
I know, same here, I'd miss it too!!

Thanks for the reply. That does help. Love these cars. Mazda seems to be underrated for the reliability and driving dynamics.
Thanks for the info. @@JustinPritchard

If you had to pick between this (Mazda cx50) or the Volvo xc40 which would you choose? (Current dilemma).
