Its crazy how much better this game is than their other ones, I love this playthrough but it makes the other ones feel even worse on every watch

I rewatch this playthrough at least once a year. For some reason I feel like this was the peak of SGS. They are always great, but I can't think of a playthrough they have done that is better than this one. The Resident Evil 7 and 8 playthroughs come close but this one will always be my favorite.

Guys, Matt was the one with the camera during the prank. He isn't new. All of the characters were there except Chris. He was the one passed out with Josh when it happened.

I'm getting two two digits for the amount of playthroughs I've watched and I didn't remember that detail.
For how much I've attempted to make sense of why certain characters face less intentional horror than others, that's something that should've really stuck out; honestly, that means it is even more messed up what he goes through, having basically no fault himself.

I really like how they give their reasoning for their choices, and they essentially debate it out. I REALLY fucking like it.
+SexyJazzCat the problem is later on i assume the choices like the walking dead will be an on the moment now or never kind of deal. an example being something like run away or hide. Both common occurrences in horror movies it will give you a decision with a five second timer and with so many people yelling about someones going to yell out a bad choice and Jirard as per that dudes instructions will follow through.

Everyone has those couple letsplay series they ritualistically rewatch once a year. This and fatal frame are some of my favorites :)

the more i rewatch this. the more im convinced is SGS has the best method for playing a game like this.
a group of friends who will be divided on choices and drinking and just having a blast.
Not just the best method but quite literally the best playthrough of this game.
it how load of folk used to play back in the day before coop online playing. My internet is bad so I still enjoy returning from a wee pint at the pub and play games with my mates late into the night.Fun, friendly and much less scary!

Okay. Honestly? I've already gone through this game. I know ALL possible endings. And you know what? These guys? TOTALLY worth watching still. C'mon let's make some TH-cam magic people!!!

CalmWeather Shawn It's not so long actually. If you pay attention even if not everyone lives your first time through, you can get a lot the stuff first time through. The game is more about solving the mystery than it is making you hunt collectibles.
Based on how Jesse is doing it, it's probably going to not work out. And it will be GLORIOUS XD
One play through should lasts about ten hours (like in the game) but there is about fifty hours of content so they said it would be better to do multiple playthroughs.

this game is fucking gorgeous, but I feel like a lot of the facial expressions and animations are a bit over exaggerated to make them seem more realistic, but it ends up looking a little silly. Like when they get to the part with Dr Hill, he looks like he's faking everything he's doing.
I think dr hill is intentional in order to be creepy. Some of the others I agree with however.

ok, maybe the dr was a bad example, but I see it in other characters too. just some expressions and movements look over exaggerated.
+PurpleKangaroo4 Facial expressions are still kinda hard to model, but it's obviously getting to the point where they're starting to look very realistic. A little exaggeration is also necessary for a video game like this where the expressions could be used to help you make a decision
This series (and a couple other SGS playthroughs) is something I come back to watch at least once a year.
Most of the time for comfort when I'm not feeling well and need something to distract me from whatever is going on. I love these videos so much!

Huh. That is actually a good point I didn't even think about. Ruins some of the tension when you think of it that way though.
She's also the least used character because she costs so much. But beyond that I think the one thing that's important to note here, and that even the developers failed on. Mike seems to genuinely want to apologize right before Hannah runs out, and he's also the only one willing to go after her. Yet throughout the story whenever you pick apologetic responses to the prank his honesty seems to go down.
Actually she is the second most usable character tied with Mike, but Chris is the most used and Josh is least used

I gotta say, I have now watched so many play-throughs of this game that I can’t even keep count, but I always come back to this one. This is my third watch through. I’m amped to be back.

OMG! They actually recognized Ward from Agents of Shield, I've seen so many Let's Play's of this game where no one recognized him. Also, I don't think Mr. Robot was out when they played this, but it's great that the actor who plays Josh got a big role in something really successful.
I will say that Peter Stormare's Analyst blatantly says in the beginning of his intro that nothing can change what happened last year, and every choice from now on is what matters. Not a single Let's Player has picked up on this being a 4th wall break explaining to the player that the prologue is set in stone, and cannot be changed. Which is disappointing because it's obvious to me, but I guess not everyone interprets it that way.
Edit: Got further in the video, and Jessie Cox recognized Rami Malek's name in the credits. Awesome.

It's amusing to see how 4 adults argue about teenager social code and decide whether or not to raise drama on a couple.
No matter how many times I watch people play this game, Beth and Hannah's death always make me go 'holy shit'. lol Like they hit the ground HARD that's just...so bad. That said, I fear how many people are actually going to survive...not many based on the choices they've made so far XD Also, I hate when people say Matt has no connections -- he was there. Matt was holding the camera in the wardrobe at the beginning.

all of these are the worst! Nobody really pays that much attention in the first part so they assume they were all a part of it. So, list of the worst things are when people think:
- that Sam went along with the prank when she's clearly like, "this is just cruel, guys."
- that Matt was not apart of the prank, because they have friggin been like, "Omg he has a selfie stick what a douche." and then they apparently think there was just another random black guy who was never mentioned again.
-That Chris was involved. This is also the writer's fault because when they're at the dollhouse (Ashley and Chris) , Chris says that "we" put a friend in a terrible position and also that he knew how the prank was layed out when he wasn't even there

Tho, for Chris, he might've have been part of the prank but passed out before it started so he wasn't involved but he knew it was going to happen. Also, I'm sure afterwards Ashley or Em or someone told him how the room was set up and what not in the grand recap of 'Hey, guess what happened while you and Josh were passed out at the counter!'
Ashley Collier i know im really late to this comment thread but i wanted to give my theory on chris' involvement with the prank. If you look at the two facts that he and Josh drank themselves into a stupor AND the way he always includes himself in the prank whenever its discussed, like with the dollhouse/basement segment i've concluded that Chris' role in the prank was to purposely get josh smashed faced drunk so that he wouldnt be able to intervene. We know josh loves his sisters so it would make sense.

The best parts so far are not them loosing their shit over jump scares but rather their 30secs-3mins heated debates over the choices. It's bloody hilarious how deep and convoluted those get. Like "We can't let him see the possibly making out ex couple because then he'll know too much and knowledge is doom. And this is the only nice guy in the whole story. But he's got no connections to the killer. He's basically an auto kill. He's already fucked. INSIST! No AGREE!"
This is gold.
Those guys spent a solid minute and a half arguing over "encourage" or "mislead" in the Ashley - Matt situation, and it was amazing.

I am so excited for the return of Scary Game Squad!!! I don't think I'd even care which game you guys play, I just adore what you guys come up with together.
It feels like every Let's Play I watch of this, people keep trying to figure out who the totem shows as dying. It says RIGHT THERE on the info page for death totems: "The possible death of *the person who finds it*!"

Kirenona Earlier on when Chris was exploring the lodge. Episode 2, I believe. I'm pretty sure it was a death totem.
But they also found a death totem while playing as Mike, that depicted Matt getting his face smashed in by a Wendigo.

Every time...EVERY time i hear this intro it sends chills down my spine, say what you will but the prospect is utterly terrifying, and just how...evil that song sounds, its enough to chill the soul. So this should be interesting, the views of four compared to one, i'm excited for this lets play.

Paul Walker's death came way to fast...and furious.
