Fabulous interview!,,Ive followed Purple since In Rock...and they are, and will remain, my favorite band....Always great to hear intelligent, articulate and sensitive musicians speaking from what is obviously from the heart! However long it lasts..(And I sincerely hope its a good stretch yet!)..Thank you guys..my life has been influenced, entertained and moved by your music!!
Ian and Roger - what a class act!!! And not having your live show sounding like the recorded pieces - that's real musicianship!!! But then again - this is DEEP PURPLE!!! Cream of the crop!
Im 57 and i started listening to Deep Purple in Junior School and i still do. These two guys and Gillan are an absolute class act! (and Morsey and Airey.) So long on the road amd they're still at it! And a great interview.
Glad to see the band's approach to this, by hinting in a low-key manner that this tour will probably be the last, but leaving the final end date open. Much more classy than the way some bands conduct themselves by announcing farewell tours, then suddenly going back on their word. I'm sure Purple know the fans will be there for them for as long as they are willing (and able) to go on.
They are indestructible ! Its now Nov 2020, I am listening via headphones to their new album Whoosh which they brought out during Covid-19 Pandemic; simply brilliant.....
This is the first time I've heard Ian Paice in an interview. I like him. He talks a lot of common sense. Very down to earth, level headed and intelligent.
You guys have been such a Big, Big part of my life. The sheer amount of touring, playing etc., is staggering. All things must pass - and it will one day..but until then keep doing what is an obvious enjoyment. It's great how you appreciate who pays the ticket, W.
NEVER too old to rock and roll!! Especially with this band. Love them still and forever! One of a kind and always under rated in my opinion. Saw them in concert last year. Primo still as when I saw them in the 70’s. 😬😕😜💐 I’m 64 and still crank up the stereo to their classics. Makes my heart happy.
Deep Purple still makes great music. I like the bands attitude. The reverence the members have for the band and their music is awesome and I think little seen. I know in the 1960's we all hoped the music would never end. Most of us hoped the bands were around 5 years at least. I'm so glad that these bands are still being creative writing new music, recording, and touring some 50 years or more. I think we live in one of the most fertile and creative musical times in the history of the world.
Im looking forward to see them in Prague, I first saw them ten years ago as a fourteen year old ( best first concert ever ) and they were absolutely amazing. Love these guys so much!
What a tour with Edgar Winter-Alice Cooper-Deep Purple! Groups I loved then and still love now. Great vital bands all three of them. Thank you Deep Purple for a career that has not become old and moldy. I still loving seeing them. I agree I do not want an exact copy of the studio track played live. I love the jamming and the changes the band may add when they play live. Playing live is the payoff for all the hard work in the studio. Hard to find an interview with a band where you will find more humanity and honesty...and FUN. They encompass my feelings about music. They keep me wanting more...and I love it.
Wise words from some living legends and great musicians, I`m glad they are still touring and recording. They say they take a few years at the time, that si a good idea. Now there is anew alnum comming out, with show hoow great musicians they are.! Deep purple and the members there has been a great inspiration for musicians for many years, almost no matter what style they play. On their conserts there is musicians who also come to watch their music idols to learn from that. Drummers, giutar players, bass players, and so on. And of course Ian Gillan has been a great inspiration for singers world wide, and still are.! They also mention the wish to play and write that they still have, kind of the same feeling as in younger years. Great music is like wine, it keep its quality over the years.. They mention gospel chiors here, I grew up in one of those. There they also use songs from rock and pop bands, if the lyrics are good enough.! Also other chior use that kind of songs, and they are very populair.
Clive Bindley - What's wrong with saying "metal"? I don't get. Them, the Sabs and the mighty Zeppelin all are the roots of Metal. Their sounds were HEAVY, explosive and LOUD!
I believe this great musician has been alongside with Ritchie Jon, Gillian, and always the thorough bred of Purple for me.Seeing Ian Paice back on stage with his magic sticks and beat gets Purple pulsating again like it was and always .Love the drumming on Fireball,Space Trucking,Highway Star, etc. Roger Glover is super trouper on bass .One of my favorites were Highwaystar, Never before,Black Night,Pictures of Home. Locks in well with Ian Paice',s drumming as well as great match fitting team.Paicey and Roger supply thunder and high voltage that alongside with Airey,Morse and Gillian keeps Purple a Power House and Highly Explosive piece!Rock on guys, life on a pleasure with souls on fire!
Purple are freeking brilliant, they've been going since 1968, the first LP I got was Purple In Rock, Hortzu Version, and there still going, any other band even goes to half that, need I say more.
Ian is spot on about alot of things. Two hours really is long enough for any act, and last tour really should mean last tour, sad though it may be. Hope to catch these guys if they do the US.
This album 'Infiniti' is momentus and evolution of Purple in this century.Great interview very intellectually articulated and crafted in words .Adds colour to Purple in deeper core. Two Thumbs up guys!
Jakub G Like I said it will never happen because Ritchie wouldn't take part. Also if the hall of fame thing is anything to go by then Ian Gillan & Bruce Payne would do anything possible to make sure that Ritchie couldn't take part.
Deep Purple, I have liked and supported them since 1968 to 1969 with Purple in Rock, and they've going for years, it's 2018 and there still going, question, is there any bands from the error of 1969 to 2018, still going, there have been thousands of bands who have been and gone and there will be many more to come, bands like this made themselves from "valves" not microchips
