Marvelous - what artistry... vivacious, versatile, personal, fresh, charming, full of esprit and understanding of musicality and character. There is such a lightness and transmission of feeling in her dance. She embodies fully what dancing is about - not just fancy steps and choreography - but earnest storytelling. She fully lives the emotion and expression in all her movements. Her dancing represents true soul. Outstanding. Thank you for this deeply gratifying tribute.

You said it so well, you captured her essence and versatility so thoroughly, I can't add more, though I was fortunate to see her onstage dozens of times starting in 1967; privileged to attend rehearsals and classes; and blessed to share a warm friendship with her. I am devastated by this loss, and will miss her as long as I live. But the many videos help. I am profoundly grateful to all who compiled this portrait of Italy's "Carla Nazionale".

Si può essere sia estensive che espressive, una cosa non esclude l’altra.
A me un collo del piede più elastico alla Guillem non dispiace, anziché il piede rigido della Fracci.
      Certo espressività al massimo…

Thats what is missing of technique in ballet nowadays, since we started to make bad choices in hypermobility and favouring high extensions instead of strength and stability just watch giselle somewhere min. 16. such amazing stability leaves so much room for real expression❤️

I saw her Giselle in 1968 in New York. She danced the most exquisite Act II I have ever seen, her port de bras melting. She had a radiance that reached the last row in the theatre, and she was a much better technician than she us given credit for.
Most of all, she was unique. Today, too many of the techno-acrobats they produce today can barely be told apart. It doesn't matter which one you see, they can all do it all.
But Fracci was only Fracci. No one moved like her.
How grateful am I that I experienced Fraccu's artistry live, and at her peak.
    RIP.

What a breathtaking tribute to the great ballerina. Thank you for the videos. Carla Fracci was among the most inspiring ballerinas of the 20th century. Her Giselle was one of the best performances ever along with Galina Ulanova. Her duet with Erik Bruhn was outstanding even though she danced with many legendary male dancers. She was among those who lived and died on stage with complete understanding of her roles. She was a miracle.

Thank you for these beautiful selections. When I was a girl Carla Fracci would enter the stage entrance of Teatro della Scala as I walked to school on the other side of the street; she was sweet enough to wave to me, there on Via Giuseppe Verdi. I saw her dance as often as I could afford to buy a ticket. When she was 54 years old she danced Juliet in Prokofief's Romeo and Juliet in the courtyard of the Castello Sforzesco. (a stage had been erected). Fracci, that evening was-- aside from a great artist-- fourteen years old. No adjectives to describe this performance; many people in the audience were in tears from the beauty. Again, thank you for this tribute. RIP Ballerina Assoluta

You can find it on TH-cam in two parts: "Masterclass di baletto con Carla Fracci Teatro alla Scala". Wow what a BEAUTIFUL DANCER ❤️Interesting to see how strong the acting skills have been present in the past. Time changed, where now, the acting skills aren't as strong as they have been, but the abilities to be faster, higher and stronger..
    LOVE BOTH TIME VARIATIONS⭐

BRAVISSIMO!!! TRIBUTE TO THE PRIMA BALLERINA ASSOLUTA CARLA FRACCI. 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
I saw La Belle Epoque of FRACCI 1967/1974 with ABT. The first ballet i saw was Giselle 1967, with FRACCI and ERIK BRUHN at the OPERA HOUSE at The BROOKLYN Academy of Music in Brooklyn NEW YORK. I fell in LOVE. Her stage presence was magnetic, magical, one of the greatest and most musical ballerinas in the 20th century.
BTW, B.B. That picture you posted is Alessandra FERRI. Please find one of FRACCI.
    GRAZIE!!!

@@TheBunduBallerina It's an interesting error though. Alessandra Ferri, with her expressiveness and beautiful arm work seems to me a link to Carla Fracci. I think there must have actually been a relationship between them. Maybe Alessandra studied with Carla?

Thank you for this video compilation. The first time I've seen he dance. What an amazing face, and joy of dance. Very light. Her feet fascinate me. her arches are quite straight and that appears to be uncommon these days. She looks like she's only just on pointe. Thank you also for all the commenters descriptions of her dying swan. It sounds like a must see.

What a treat this compilation has been. A stunning dancer with a warm and entrancing stage presence. Something has gone wrong in ballet to my mind, it now looks more like gymnastics performed by undernourished dancers. Carla’s dancing has a softer side and she draws the audience into the story; it must have been wonderful to see her dance on stage. Thank you for this film.

I believe she must be respected as a great prima in a ever evolving lineage. Luckily for us all ballet is moving forward and we must likewise respect contemporary stage artists, without falling in a personality cult on the wave of emotion for her passing. I haven't seen her on stage and, while watching her on video, I must say that the performances are, more often than not, outdated. It's life! It's like watching legendary soccer matches of the past... Unforgettable and framed in their historical moment. Let's recognize where ballet is coming from and enjoy it without unfair comparisons)

@@apeplave6524 OUTDATED?? You’re out of your mind! Every dancer, every ballet performed since say 1955 is MOST CERTAINLY as of today. It is NOT outdated at all. The ballerinas of the 1900s to 1950 are outdated…..Pavlova, and all those long Russian names I cannot spell. Oh yes, Spetssisova, or similar spelling - the one who sadly went mad. THOSE ballerinas and ballets are outdated. NEVER Carla!

@Margaret Lavender Olga Spessivtseva. And SHE isn't outdated, never will be, a much better Giselle than the sickly -sweet vomit-inducing Carla Fracci.

Thank you so much for this beautifully done tribute. I was lucky to see her dance many times when I was a child, and she was my idol. When I danced I always had her in my mind. Fracci was such a rarity in that she really WAS the person she was portraying. She was a real human being on stage with so much emotion conveyed in her beautiful, expressive face and body. At the same time her technique and strength were perfect and effortless, she seemed to float in the air when she jumped and silently landed. I still remember her amazing Coppelia with the incredible Paolo Bortoluzzi, her Giselle with Eric Bruhn, and so many other performances. I wish everyone could have seen her perform live. RIP To me she was a Prima Assoluta. ❤❤❤

Thank you for posting this remembrance of Carla Fracci. I hadn't realized she had died. Certainly Giselle was her signature piece. So interesting to watch her now, as ballet has come such a long way from her ballet apex. Enrapturing because of her interpretation of the roles, in a way, transcending ballet, and not to forget her personal beauty. Very rare to see the Rose Adagio done as well as she did it.
