R.A himself had this to say about the track: _"I fucking obliterated this track, I had to, Razah asked me to get on a joint wit' him, Timbo and an icon like Tragedy Khadafi so I knew I had to come correct. To me Trag is one of the best that ever lived. Nas, Mobb Deep, Capone & Nore, and so much of the whole QB sound came from him, so when I got to the studio I just kinda blacked out. This here is an all time classic hip hop record, it don’t matter if it gets play or not, we don’t need radio, while the big corporations play their nursery rhyme shit, the underground heads keep the artform alive"_
When I saw this comment about him being 'underrated' it reminded me of a time when I was going to comment on another vid, it was an Apathy + Celph Titled mixtape, and I was gonna say something like "Two of the most underrated rappers in the game today" but then I thought to myself for a minute and I don't know if the term 'underrated' is really accurate; surely anyone who is aware of them gives them the ratings they deserve, how could they not unless they have no real knowledge and appreciation of hip hop? I think a lot of the time when we say "underrated" what we really mean is that they are not as well known to the general public or that they haven't achieved as much mainstream success as some other rappers. In reality I think the good underground rappers don't go after status or accolades because they want to focus more on actually producing quality work than commercial work, and they're probably perfectly aware that they could easily sell out and reach the masses and get famous and get loads of money if they really wanted to. If you think of an artist like R.A or Hell Razah, Jedi Mind Tricks, etc. their releases, singles, mixtapes or albums, solo and collaborations, are all well received by critics, they get good reviews even if they don't sell massive numbers. So they do get the ratings, both from the industry and the fans but they just don't get the exposure. Which, overall, is probably better for us as if they went for mass-appeal it would probably only lead to watering down of their content and a new following of half-hearted fans who don't even understand the art but just follow them as it's the latest trend... Personally I think it's beautiful that artists are happy with their underground buzz, satisfied with their work-rate and fan-base and not constantly chasing fame and fortune, I think they are the guys keeping real hip-hop alive... Sorry to ramble, I tend to go on and on once I start writing, plus I'm replying to a comment that's like a year old so wonder if anyone will even read this but hey!
This track is bonkers...I was reading some of the comments concerning RA and Pun; who influenced who, who's better, who's flow is iller; that's a personal choice; to each his own. What is not in dispute is that both Pun and RA are lyrical greats and both have said on the record that Kool G. Rap is their favorite emcee of all-time. Marinate on that one. One.
*+MasterCipher Supreme* _His name is iREZARECT'EM I think its meant to be read as I RESURRECT EM , and don't have anything to do with RZA. But I might be wrong..._
@SCARBZ1REP it made complete sense. the whole verse was referring himself to other rappers/mcs/rap groups. He goes through about 20. Simply saying hes better, with metaphors and similes. For instance his statement if i aint better than big i'm the closest. It refers to Biggie Smalls statement "i thought i was the illest" when he was asked about RA. You just can't understand some of the things hes saying because you dont know what it means/is. Others do, so don't be ignorant.
those bars tragedy spit - "I'm the Queens, one man Supreme Team Triple beam dream, microphone cream fiend" gave me goosebumps man... real hip hop RA gave a good lesson in being an emcee too
This song is so slept on that I had to comment twice. Also I hate TH-cam's new layout, with how I have to click on a thing to open up comments. Using a galaxy S10+.
biggie would.. big was interviewed by some magazine and he was asked "what do you think about r.a. the rugged man?" his answer was: man.. i thought i was the illest
I've heard a lot of rappers do their thing, but I can clearly say that R.A. is the best that ever lived. Even BIG said that he though he(BIG) was good until he met R.A.
I'm heard this song mad times of the past couple of years, but GOD DAMNNN!!! RA just MURDERED this joint!!! We need a lot more lyricists like this in the spotlight nowadays for real!
R.A himself had this to say about the track:

So true, this is one of my favorite verses in Hip Hop History! One of RA's best for sure but also one of the best period!
Yep I saw that Interview I remember it so perfectly he was talking about all his songs from the old joint with big till this etc.
Fasho, still don't know why he got on this track with some certified vocalists. He should stick to making beats
Rugged Man Ate everybody’s plate…. 🍽
It’s the best verse ever
*R.A. has one of the best verses in hip-hop history. I know everyone says Uncommon Valor but I say this one.*
Favorite verses for me now r from gotta be dope .and all systems go . His new album is crazyyyy
Everything ra touches turns to gold
This is 100% better than Uncommon Valor. Uncommon Valor is dope as hell and is definitely right up there, but nothing beats his verse on this
I feel you on this 1 it's fucking close though hahahahaha ❤
Tragedy Khadafi is sooo underrated
Beat Junkie2016 yes. He is

Beat Junkie2016, do you remember when he was called intelligent hoodlum?
I remember in 1990 when his first Intelligent Hoodlum album came out. Heavy rotation in my sony walkman at that time. That album personally is top 5.
Check out army of the pharaohs he’s on one of the albums
R.A IS TOP 5..... ITS 2020 AND HES STILL DROPPIN 🔥
Almost 2022 he's still amazing best album of his career last year.
R.A.'s flow if fucking impeccable.
I honestly don't know how he raps the way he does, especially this verse.
It's unreal. Nearly flawless.
literally just discovered R.A, one of the greatest verses I have ever heard.
Uncommon valour and learn truth
@@garrettstenlund9561 Beat me to it brother. 😂 salute the real. Love from Australia
This one is the best. The other ones are amazing but when it comes to hip-hop history this is top 3 verses ever.
HELL RAZER ONE OF THE HOTTEST MC IN THE WU UNIVERSEEEEEEE
'I'm Canibus before he met Wyclef'... so true, Canibus was on another level when he first started to come through on mix tapes.
wtf RA the rugged man,i thought his best verse was on uncommon valor, until i heard this, this is on a whole different level wow
everybody bodied this shit, not a weak bar in sight
Tragedy Khadafi WOW. One of the best verses ever.
This is still one of my favorite albums of all time. Every track was legendary

They all killed. I was really feeling Tragedy's verse though
Tamal Krsna FACTS MY G ...TRAG IS MY HOMIE ...SALUTE
Tamal Krsna, do you remember when he was called intelligent hoodlum?
Tragedy best verse on the track.
RA is nasty but I've liked Tragedy's low flow since 1998
Last photo of pac before his Beamer got shot 👽
Trages best verses since LA LA in my opinion!
This track is bonkers...I was reading some of the comments concerning RA and Pun; who influenced who, who's better, who's flow is iller; that's a personal choice; to each his own.

Bonkers it is, homie, bonkers as fuck it is.
And they are all from the Mecca NYC like myself I have been a Hip Hip head since 86 and not going anywhere!
This is true rap. No misogyny, no homophobia, no cars or bling. A true wake-up call for hip-hop, with a sick beat.
This song will forever be dope! But RA wildin in the background makes the video!
RA destroys every beat he's on.
JediMindTricks183 And will destroy Eminem in an instant.
MasterCipher Supreme Y'all need to stop mentioning wack ass rappers. Nobody here cares about eminems
MasterCipher Supreme em shit .. hellmy grandma can rip better flow than that bloke

_His name is iREZARECT'EM I think its meant to be read as I RESURRECT EM , and don't have anything to do with RZA. But I might be wrong..._

You just can't understand some of the things hes saying because you dont know what it means/is. Others do, so don't be ignorant.
Another reason why I like Rugged Man is because he only does collabs with other dope spitters, people he respects for their rap skills.
Tragedy is super underrated 🔥
Hip hop in its purest form. Should be lauded as a classic. we know real when we hear it. This is it.
How have these tracks not got millions of views minds these days are too small thanks for the upload would have forgot about this
RA got the weirdest mannerisms when he raps...but his verse is absolute fire
Gotta hand that trophy to Tech N9ne lol, RA is weird as hell too though haha
Michiel Prak True that, looks like he's casting spells.

Skilled multiple rhyme blaster!!! R.A. ripped it!!!
Definitely a timeless classic in which RA straight bodies the verse and takes over the song!
One of the best tracks of the decade. . .
theres a reason RA was the last to spit on that track
Rugged too nice on this
This song is so slept on that I had to comment twice. Also I hate TH-cam's new layout, with how I have to click on a thing to open up comments. Using a galaxy S10+.
