Thank you for this. My sister died in a motorcycle crash on this highway in July of this year (2023) ... I found this video today (Canadian Thanksgiving)... watching it gave me the last moments my sister had in this life. My mom keeps saying that "she died doing what she loved." It is perfect. Her husband rode in front of her, so even the bike in front of her added to the experience of what she would have seen and the joy she would have had. You don't know how special this is to see this ride from "her perspective". Thank you.
My heart goes out to you regarding your sister. Unfortunately, we all are aware of and accept the risks of riding. Although that doesn't make this any easier. I am glad if the video helps even a little bit. It is a wonderful road, one that I have ridden a number of times and always yearn to come back. Perhaps you will make a pilgrimage to this special area to help your healing. I would certainly provide you with a route.
Drove there when I was trucking, it took about 6 hours to drive 200 miles but the views made it worth while and I kept stopping to get out and take pictures
This road is only great if you like the scent of pines, wonderfully clean air, perfectly smooth asphalt and long sweeping turns along gorgeous rivers between mountains. In other words, it is THE BEST road in the lower 48. Period. And then, stop for a beer at the bar in Lochsa Lodge at the top.... Couldn't be better, ever.

Rode this highway both directions on my just completed trip to the Black Hills SD. On the return trip, going East to West, the road from the top of Lolo Hot Springs all the way to Kooskia was nearly devoid of car traffic. I attribute this to fact that there was a fire burning on Lolo peak and many people who would normally have been out fishing and camping elected to not go there, due to the smoke covering the entire area. Anyway, for a motorcyclist that enjoys uninterrupted high speed sweepers it was nirvana. And by the way, I did not take videos of the ride, so thanks for this. It's probably better than I could have done or had the patience to do...
this is the first highway I took a stick shift out alone with my own everything and choice of music. I may be a Californian "beetnik" but I love idaho. just the way it is. do not worry, I see the bikes. I'm here because my home was destroyed. not to tear down more beautiful places.
Absolutely Luv this ride, and been up it several times, and down it only a few. Have yet to take the motorbike there, and hope to before this life cycles.

Idaho Hwy 12 is one of my favorite roads.
doing it this summer, it's only about 30 mins from me
Do not drive this highway in November in a semi. Very dangerous
The music ruins it
