- A family on Staten Island is calling out the NYPD after they say their car was seized without reason. Sarah Wallace reports in an I-Team exclusive.

He absolutely did the right thing in staying calm and remaining silent because one thing you never want to do is talk to or engage with a police officer, or multiple police officers in that case who were clearly on a power trip. However, the other part that he isn’t playing well is he doesn’t plan on suing. That’s the problem right there.

My uncle often asks me or one of his brothers to accompany him when he has to head to Staten Island for business purposes. He's had issues while being in those predominantly caucasian neighborhoods. He's a highly educated, rich, well to do businessman that can't be mistaken for someone who's threatening or up to no good.

Yes, that's where Eric Garner died from an illegal chokehold , which is way worse than what happened to George Floyd. Floyd resisted an arrest the entire time and Garner did not. But I am not sure if it's necessary to blame the entire borough of Staten Island based on these incidents. There is good and bad everywhere and most cops are good people who do their jobs accordingly and act responsibly. But this was very bad.

@Video Blend I do not understand what you mean when you say "cop land." What I will say is that the culture and atmosphere of SI is different than the rest of NYC. Not saying all SI cops are like that but I have been pulled over many times in Staten Island for going 1-2 mph over the speed limit (not an exaggeration) and stopping at a stop sign for 2 seconds instead of 3 seconds (also not an exaggeration). All the tickets I have ever received in my life (I have been driving for 20 Years).. all are from Staten Island and I rarely go to Staten Island. So I will let you be the judge.

I had that same problem in New Jersey. Let my son use my Lexus and from my drive way too the gas station a cross the street a cop say he saw my son just get drugs. I watched the whole thing. I walked cross the street and asked what was the problem when he said he saw him get drugs Right then I said you're a liar . Now get the captain here. This under cover cop jumped his ass in the car and drove away .But this momma bear wasn't done. Can you say no job for him.

I can relate to this video. Years back, late at night from work this lady cop pull me over for no reason. Told me to get out of the car. Put me on handcuffs. I kept asking her what did I do wrong? she never answered. She called back up. She could't find anything inside the car. Thank God her back up showed up as I was getting agitated. She told me to sit on side of the road and I was reactant to do so. Back up came and soon as he realized she was in the wrong, he took handcuffs off and told her to step aside and apologize to me and told me that I was free to leave. I don't know what type of drugs she was on. Crazy world we living in. She also kept telling me what I was doing in that neighborhood, I said check my license please, I am just heading home and I got classes early in the morning.

Forget fixing it, sue and make them buy a new one. Who knows what all they have done to the car. Who knows if they haven’t planted anything in the car so they can have “cause” for a future arrest. And the car will never be the same. The front end alignment alone will never be back at factory specs.

If it's only cosmetic damage there won't be any reason the alignment can't be done. There is such a thing as a frame table that can be used to straighten frames, though that can be expensive. Cars can be fixed properly no matter the damage, just takes money!

This happen to me one time when my wife got pull over a holiday weekend. They impounded my vehicle because my wife left her license , my wife told the officer I was fifteen minutes away because I was on the phone when she got pulled over. Long story short they impounded because it how they make money with the impound lot. I had to wait till Monday while it sits there gaining interest, a total scam and theives

Eric Von Zipper should not even be “some cops”. These guys are supposed to be held to a higher standard and while I’ve always been very supportive of LE, it’s deeply disturbing to me to see and hear the number of cases out there of police who have gone completely off the deep end and I’m disgusted and outraged by it. This is not a case of a few rogue cops. And then when we have an incident like in Buffalo, instead of the good cops being angered by the bad cops who pushed that elderly man, they rally to support the rogue cops who were clearly in the wrong. Tough for me to reconcile that sort of thing

This reminds me of my experience. My dad bought me a Mercedes Benz s500. And we live in Westchester N.Y. And everyday there was a new reason to pull me out of the car & search it. One time my friends on our way back from a Jay z concert in the city. A cop pulls me over claiming the reason was because my friend look dead in the back seat. Never mind its 2 in the morning & he was sleeping. But he's dead okay whatever.

Sounds like she actually bought it for him. He doesn’t drive it often because he’s in college away. In NY, a car cannot be registered to someone who’s address isn’t a NY address. A lot of people park in NJ or certain parts of NY, but have addresses elsewhere, to get a lower insurance rate. They’re cracking down on that. So if the car is at Mom’s home, it has to be registered in Mom’s name, in this case, since the kid’s school is probably out of state.

One would think if this was a legitimate operation the vehicle owner would be given a statement a week later.
I’ve never seen any legitimate operation take a week for a response, usually the same day if any but then again I guess it depends on the location and their policy. Still, it’s really odd that they will take the vehicle, go thru it, release it and no response. Let alone any tickets. It just doesnt seem right, they are fishing for something and they profiled the kid 🤦🏾♂️
