hahahah "it's not a tart it's a cup" 😂😂😂 always love the candid commentary and details! i've heard that overnight flights are at a disadvantage bc of the more limited food service but i feel like this is actually a good balance - you get to try the snack menu without overeating. on our flight, they gave fish for both japanese meals and it was a bit too much fish, plus the breakfast one was very dry. oh and agree that light off is better
✈ I've flown both The Room and this older "staggered" product. While The Room does have the new, nice finishes, big TV, IFE, and wide bench seat, I found the length of the bed to be too short for me (6'2"), requiring me to sleep on my side. Additionally, The Room's bed cushioning is really thin / firm, even with the provided mattress pad, so I ended up with a crooked back and struggled to sleep in The Room. Sleep is a priority for me on TPAC flights, so for this reason I prefer the old staggered product.
Flew ANA biz to Seattle a few years ago. Felt it was very average. Food was passable, beverages were weak and seat was OK. It’s no SQ and frankly I’d prefer AC in Biz over the water 🇨🇦
A very detailed flight review. The Room is a much better version compare to their old business class seat. As a Japanese food lover, I always find ANA catering service one of the best. It seemed that you didn't enjoy it that much.
We were originally supposed to fly The Room, but got plane swapped last minute. The red eye flight menu was very underwhelming compared to other Asian airline offerings.
✈ Flying the Flying Honu later this month from NRT (my home airport) to HNL in business class. It's an older style but looks newer than this. I'm racking up Air Canada miles and status to try to the the Room or the Suite at some point.
I feel that ANA biz class is less claustrophobic than JAL biz class. I wish that I can book “the room” on ANA from Seattle but I can’t find any 777-300er from Seattle
✈️ hey Sebby,so it’s either “the Room” or this for ANA business class? My wife and I wanna go in summer 2025 with ANA’s the room but it seems very difficult to book two seats.
I have flown ANA business class a few times either out of LAX or SFO to Bangkok layover in Tokyo, I live in Northern California so it makes no difference to me, always enjoyed my flight as well as the meals, lol feed me, turn off the lights and sleep the flight away lol, I have flown with cathay Pacific to Thailand layover in Hong Kong and I enjoyed that flight as well, I feel so fun with United to Tokyo. I didn’t like that flight so much, if you don’t start your vacation out right it just doesn’t feel the same
Very neat, I'm trying The Room next year. After that I need to try the new JAL first and business to JFK and the old ANA F and J like you did and I will have flown every product available today on Japanese airlines. Unfortunately, I'm beginning work with a new Japanese company and while I'm being paid significantly more than my peers, its just not enough to manufacture spend like I used to.
@@theanimecompletionist 10 days is the minimum mandated by labor standards law. You shouldn't need to be lucky to get the bare minimum working conditions the law requires. And companies that obey the law don't get cookies for doing what they are supposed to. Companies only giving five days in Japan are breaking the law, and I'd suggest anyone you know in such a situation should consider consulting a union, a labor lawyer, or the labor standards office.
Was this flight include an equipment change? I took this flight last year in 2023. ANA schedules their "The Room" as their overnight flight to SFO. It's a shame that ANA doesn't have a full meal after taking off. I was really disappointed when I had to order from the snack menu. I limited myself in the lounge because I was expecting a meal on the plane. Oh well... ✈
just flew the new ANA room from Haneda to ORD. It was good but I noticed the service was reduced. Flew back toJapan with JAL first class the service was exceptional. In ANA they replace the Globetrotter Amenity with Ettinger, which is just Meh. Especially it comes with less items than before.
✈️ I’m planning a trip to Tokyo April 2025 for Star Wars Celebration. What’s the best business class you’ve flown on a trip like this? Would love to try ANA’s “The Room” but I’m having trouble finding availability. I did find ONE JAL business class seat SFO to HND but I dunno if there’s a better option?

thanks im the same height as you. so this helped me alot🫡
I love this set up. It’s perfect for me. Yes the tv on the room is bigger but even in first class I felt the bed too hard

I prefer the "old" JAL business product over the "old" ANA.

whats better for food, this vs room, or they do the same food?

Yeah, crazy to see how much nicer the new products are vs. old ones. Can't wait until all the "old" products are eventually replaced haha
The ANA Lounge in HND is very good, but gets crowded. I thought the curry and fried chicken were solid.
I think I ate like 2 plates of chicken (or at least grabbed it twice) and considered going for another curry haha

I would try and get The Room if possible; much nicer product since it's newer :)

Does the older model have individual air conditioning vents or just the newer ones?
How did I miss this? I’m late but I’m still here to support👍🏽👍🏽
I’m assuming that’s not the Pokemon livery. I’m trying to get that business redemption next month. Even thought of doing a little video about it.
Nope, I wish it was the Pokemon plane!

...And they only give me 10 PTO days...
@@theanimecompletionist Japanese labor organiser here. 10 days is the minimum mandated by labor standards law, so not terribly surprising.
@@nippolitica I’ve seen companies that only offer 5. I’d say I’m lucky.

have a good flight - God bless you
I'm looking forward to taking the ANA The Room back to SFO soon
Enjoy! :)
When Sebby talks about food I get really hungry and when he talks about coffee I really want to have coffee.

The Room is the best but availability is tough. You have a bit of time so I'd probably just keep an eye out, especially for the first 300 day window.
Isn’t this on the 787 as well?
Not Sebby biting the tart *cup 🫣😂
😅
lights off!
Thanks!
Lights off for sure
