I've noticed the different styles . I have my favorite the one with the really thick gears. That thing would grind up a tank.

Sometimes manafacturers crush brand new stuff. Bikes, cars, you name it. Such waste is shameful...but very common.
They may also have been copies of brand names. Products like these are often destroyed as well.
