What's It Like Driving the Dangerous Torit Juba Road in South Sudan?

This is a video about travel in Africa. Specifically road travel in South Sudan. I've been to South Sudan a number of times now, and road travel is always the most dangerous part of the trip.From bandits to rebels to poor conditions, if you have the chance to fly it's better than taking the road. I put this video together for the times when that's not possible, just to give you an idea of what to expect should you find yourself traveling the Torit to Juba road. I don't want to discourage anyone from visiting South Sudan, but it's just good to have an idea of what you're getting in to should you find yourself there. My videos are about travel, and I try to keep things as positive as I can. However, if I can use my channel to keep people out of trouble, I will.

The most beautiful land in africa.s sudan.iam.a fellow somali.i have been to heigleig unity state.in the time of omar el bashir.i stayed close to rukon and bantue. The south sudanese are hospitable people.

Thanks very much for the informative video. I support 3 refugees from Torit who are going to school in Nairobi. They usually travel by bus to visit relatives in Torit, but now I will re-evaluate their means of transport and consider having them fly home.

South Sudan, though the latest new country, is not that much dangerous country. Country being the newest and the govt not being the stable the local people in this country are facing hardships of employments, deprived of basic needs like education, health and other daily needs. The soil is so much porous and cultivable. But the problem is most of the people are getting food from the UN funded agencies and they are getting food without being paid. So, this tradition of getting food from the FAO or other agencies is making the locals lazy. Sudanese people are very good though being burdened with poverty.

I don’t advise any tourist to come to South Sudan. I am South Sudanese and I am being honest with you. If you do come for business or any other reason other than tourism please listen carefully to the instructions given by this TH-camr because he was spot on. I know someone will comment and say how dear you say that about your country and where is the patriotism and what not but all I can tell that person is you’re being selfish and hollow minded and don’t let your pride or ego or ignorance take precedence over reasoning. I’d rather help someone keep safe than lie to them in the name of patriotism and love for a country.
